Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Champions Course
About
Situated amongst the foothills of the San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains, Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon boasts 36 holes of scenic championship golf. The two courses, the Champions and the Legends, are some of the area's most popular. The older Champions Course is host to the PGA Tour Q-School and it is a Nationwide Tour Qualifier. It is such a popular tournament location that it is known as the "home of the Southern California PGA." The Champions is a challenging but playable layout with tight fairways and numerous steep-lipped bunkers strategically placed throughout. There is also thick, treacherous rough that will swallow any errant shots. Also included in your tee time is unlimited use of the practice facilities, which include an all-grass driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

Champions
Rode the Blues (6348/71.3/130) with 24hourgolf in 4H early morning using UP. Calm, overcast and chilly made for a long course. Matched up with Sebastian and Diego, 7th and 5th graders respectively. Coming from a family of golf professionals, they both had beautiful swings. The 5th grader had not hit his growth spurt yet and played the red tees. I honestly would have thought the 7th grader was a college golfer just watching from afar. He was consistently 275 in the middle with a killer short game and shot a -2 70 from the Blues?!?!?!
Schmidy/Curley design that is a solid, challenging layout. Not an overly tight layout, but you cannot miss most fairways here by much without bringing penalty strokes (lost ball bushes & native overgrowth) into play. A couple of risk/reward par 4's that longer hitters can have a go at the green.
The tees were at best okay. Most of the par 4/5 tees had good coverage and were decent. Most of the par 3 tees were in mediocre to poor condition with lots of divots.
The fairways were patchy with good coverage, about 50/50 thin/lush.
The rough was lush, thick and penal, especially when wet early in the round.
The sand traps were well raked. However, damp and hard packed with inconsistent depths is challenging to play out of on hard/fast greens.
The large green complexes were nicely designed with mounds, slopes and contours to challenge you whether you were on or off the greens. The poa annua greens were quick. Medium fast to fast speed and firm. Slightly better condition overall than the Legends greens IMO.
This would be a very challenging course to walk, numerous tees were a hike from the last green. The carts have nice GPS. All grass range is a plus. The customer service was excellent from everyone, no drink cart today. Recommended if you get a deal, but I would not pay rack rate for these conditions.
Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!
Best bang for the buck
This course makes you hit your shots. Fun to play! Greens are fast. bunkers are rocky and deep. I’m happy to call this course my home course.
Thank you for the 5 stars!
Bunkers are garbage
This is a great course for the money. The only real issues here are some really bad tee boxes that have you standing above or below your ball and the bunkers. They're not real sand, just raked dirt. You never know if they're going to be rock hard or soft. A lot of them have standing water in them that is enough to lose a ball in.
Friging cold
It was so cold. Difficult to enjoy the course but conditions were on the wet side. Layout interesting. Greens in good conditions. Would return on a warmer day.
A nice surprise
On a cold windy morning, we played 18 holes here in 31/2 hours.
Great greens,
Tee decks need work
Course layout beautiful
Thank you so much for the review. We are so happy to see that you enjoyed your time with us. We hope to see you again soon.
Tough greens and lots of sand traps
Wish I could have played better, but I will be back. Love the layout.

Break out the driver
Very wide fairways, with no annoying homes to give you any reason not to bring out the Big Dog...every single par 4 and 5. Don’t go in the bunkers as they reminded me of bomb craters. Deep and nasty. Greens rolled fast and true, with some big swings. Overall a fun course. Not the courses fault, but sadly we played behind a Cactus Tour event and these young ladies were painfully slow... 6 hour round. Those ladies are going to have to figure out how to play quicker if they ever make the LPGA.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting. We hope to see you again in the future.
Slooooooow
Greens were fantastic and FAST! Fairways were good with a few spots but not every hole. Great layout. But all that means nothing when the round takes 5 1/2 hours. Was behind a tournament but didnt know anything about that until we got to the first tee. Ridiculous.
Nice layout
The golf course had a challenging but fair layout and we finished our round in 4:10 minutes. Staff was friendly and food was excellent! We will be back!

Good day..but windy..!
Nice course for the price we payed.. $33 on golfnow. Some really interesting holes..! First time we played, so next time would be much better to learn the ,"lay" of the course. Would play again.
Marshals need to speed play
Great course, but the marshals need to be more proactive. Every time I play here the rate of play is dreadfully slow. Also, the starter literally placed a foursome and a threesome in front of us and we were a twosome. I have considered joining their membership, but the fee is way too high for the rate of play, horrendous winds, and lack of marshal accountancy. Ladies and gentleman if I wanted to play like this I would go to Yucaipa Valley. At least try to act like you;re one of the best courses in the IE.
Morongo - Tukwet- champions
The course was on a frost delay of two hours. The fairways were ok not great. The greens were fast but not awesome. Pace of play -5 hours too long. The coyote on the tee box - priceless.
Would play again.
Thank you for your 5-star review! We appreciate your feedback and we will make sure we relay this to the staff.
Not as Good as Last Time
We were here 2 years ago when we felt the course conditions were pretty mint. Today the course just ok. It didn't seem to be in as good of shape as we remember..
Thank you for the feedback! We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars. We hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
Good course
Pace of play was good for a Saturday, frost delay put our tee time back 45 min. Course in good shape. Not a real easy course but fun.
Thank you for the feedback. We are happy to see that you had a 5 star experience. We look forward to having you back!
Decent course
Decent course in this area, pace of play would have been better if not for the group in front were playing from the back tees when they have no business to do so.
We were visiting from Georgia where it had been raining just about every other day therefore we were so glad to see sunshine and perfect weather conditions during Christmas time.
Thanks so much for the review and for the 4-stars. We are glad you had an incredible time and hope to see you again soon!
good value
good value for the area. sand traps need more sand in them
