Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Champions Course

The course is in great shape except the greens. They are all punched and sanded. A few bare spots on the greens. Overall course was not fun with the green conditions. Worst part, none of the staff informed us of the conditions. Shame on them for not giving us the option.

Prices are decent. Pace was good. Green were a little fast. Bunkers could use some work but course overall is in great shape. Staff were helpful and informative.

The Champions course is in great condition. Turf conditions of the fairways are the best they have been in years. The green are smooth with speed of about 9. The recent rains in the area have caused some distress in the bunkers, but I'm sure the course maintenance staff will have them in find shape in the next few days. I have played the Legends course at Tukwet Canyon as well and it is equally in find condition. Great courses at great prices. Go Play!

The course is in good condition except for the terrible bunkers. Sands on all bunker was packed down.

Course was in great shape, it played hard with heavy grass in second cut. The green were unpredictable with the cut and uncut lies.

I have played this course a few times and have always enjoyed it. The issue is not specific to this course, it happens everywhere and it is just wrong. When you show up to play and there is no warning that the greens are punched and full off sand it' freaking ruins what is supposed to be a great day out!. There has to be a way for a user to see the true course condition before booking a time. This takes away from a good outing on the course leaving you with a negative experience. Also the folks at the course don't really care. It's always a to bad that's the way it is attitude.

At one time this was one of the best courses in the Inland Empire, now it’s just average. The traps use to be white sand, now it’s just brown gravel. While the lower price is good for playing a well designed course, it has also brought in players who fail to repair their ball marks on the green.

This course has been great in the spring. There was a tournament a few weeks back and they added actual sand to the traps so it’s not just mud or raked dirt which makes them a lot easier to get out of.

Pace of play was a little slow, even with a 707 tee time. Seems the marshal or beverage cart don’t start till later in the day.

Other than that, it was a great time and the course is in great shape.

Pretty typical day at the Morongo Championship course. Tee boxes were in good shape, the fairways were excellent and the rough was very high.

The greens however were cut so close that holding a shot on the green was near impossible, unless you were able to hit an upslope.

Seems to me that they could leave a little grass on the greens, but for the most part, they were muddy and sparse.

A final note, my GPS on the cart did not work on the front nine , so I took the cart back to have it replaced, and the new cart GPS did not work either.

Kind of a bummer that a nice course like this would have such faulty equipment.

Much better than in recent years. Greens good, fairways great, bunkers not very playable since they are dirt bunkers and we're wet with many having standing water.

Enjoyed the round. The layout and views around the course are well worth it.

Rode the Blues (6348/71.3/130) with 24hourgolf in 4H early morning using UP. Calm, overcast and chilly made for a long course. Matched up with Sebastian and Diego, 7th and 5th graders respectively. Coming from a family of golf professionals, they both had beautiful swings. The 5th grader had not hit his growth spurt yet and played the red tees. I honestly would have thought the 7th grader was a college golfer just watching from afar. He was consistently 275 in the middle with a killer short game and shot a -2 70 from the Blues?!?!?!

Schmidy/Curley design that is a solid, challenging layout. Not an overly tight layout, but you cannot miss most fairways here by much without bringing penalty strokes (lost ball bushes & native overgrowth) into play. A couple of risk/reward par 4's that longer hitters can have a go at the green.

The tees were at best okay. Most of the par 4/5 tees had good coverage and were decent. Most of the par 3 tees were in mediocre to poor condition with lots of divots.

The fairways were patchy with good coverage, about 50/50 thin/lush.

The rough was lush, thick and penal, especially when wet early in the round.

The sand traps were well raked. However, damp and hard packed with inconsistent depths is challenging to play out of on hard/fast greens.

The large green complexes were nicely designed with mounds, slopes and contours to challenge you whether you were on or off the greens. The poa annua greens were quick. Medium fast to fast speed and firm. Slightly better condition overall than the Legends greens IMO.

This would be a very challenging course to walk, numerous tees were a hike from the last green. The carts have nice GPS. All grass range is a plus. The customer service was excellent from everyone, no drink cart today. Recommended if you get a deal, but I would not pay rack rate for these conditions.

This course makes you hit your shots. Fun to play! Greens are fast. bunkers are rocky and deep. I’m happy to call this course my home course.
