Coming back or failing?
First I’d like to say that the track layout is not horrible, however the mismanagement of the facility is disappointing.
Has the watering system broken? Under construction? Waiting for God to take care of the watering?
This course is DRY... tee boxes are brown and cracking, the deep tees on 9 look abandoned.
The greens on several holes were not cut around the edges, just straight cuts raised before getting to the edge.
I guess I received what i paid for on a hot deal from GN, but I’d come back and play if Billy Casper management improves the facility.
Stopped in to the restaurant for a bite at the turn and nothing was available for a quick takeaway.
Please respond and give us a plan, because you need one to get this course back into shape....
Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. The input of our guests is very important to us as we constantly work to improve the golf course.
In response to some of your questions;
The course is a bit dry due to no rain and high temps for the last week, however the brown you see out there is actually due to a full course herbicide application that went out for nutsedge. That is a tough weed to knock back and the product is strong, so when it goes out the course does tend to look "dried out" for 3 to 5 days. However, the nightly irrigation and hopefully a bit of rain in the near future will have it green again and the thin areas will fill in quickly. We usually follow these herbicide apps up with a round of fertilizer to help that process along.
The back tees on 9 actually are in the process of being abandoned. That area will just barely fall into the property line of one of the new homes that will go up in the future. Over the weekend, a golfer actually moved a set of tee markers back there for a period of time before we caught on.
The greens cut you are describing is lacking what we call a "clean up lap." The greens get cut in straight lines and then at the end the operator is supposed to go around the edge with a lap in order to get the areas they couldn't get with the straight lines. We will discuss that with the superintendent as that is normally done, but it seems it was not on the day of your visit. That could be due to an equipment breakdown or an employee call off that day, but leaving that undone is definitely not intentional and will be looked into.
As for the restaurant, we chose to take the approach to make everything to order in order to make sure the quality of the food is always high. However, that does result in the drawback of not having anything ready for a grab and go. We carry snacks in the pro shop and we do advise our golfers to call in to go orders at the turn. We apologize for the inconvenience of this and hope we can better meet your needs in the future.
Overall, the course should bounce back from the herbicide very quickly. We know it makes the course appear a little rough around the edges when the application first goes down, but in the long run it will actually improve the conditions. A little bit of time and perhaps a good rainfall or two and everything will be green and have healed up.
Once again, thank you for your honest feedback and we hope to see you back in the future.
nice greens, croakin' gators
First time playing this course...very natural, ample fairways, lots o' water, greens in great shape, a couple of fairways have issues, overall good and love the nature and design!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad you had a fun day at the course and look forward to seeing you again soon!
Very poorly organized on a Saturday morning. Waited to get a cart, no starter, and slow foursomes playing with no clue that they have a line of groups behind them and ranger to try to speed them up
Hello,
We’re so sorry that your experience did not match your expectations. Please help us to improve by providing more information on your experience. We can be reached at info@indianriverpreservegolfclub.com.
The course is always a blast to play. Would be nice to see an impreovement on the pace of play, that is my one critique. I had an 8:36 tee time and rolled up to the 1st tee at 8:30 and there are literally 3 groups of 4 in line in front of me. Never got to play through or get ahead of any of them as there were plenty of groups out on the course ahead of them. Took 4 & 1/2 hours to play 13 holes when i just had to call it quits due to time. Other than that, I have never had a bad thing to say about this place. I do love the course!
Thank you so much for your review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed our course. We appreciate your feedback, and hope to see you back in the future.
Good course
The course was in good condition. Greens are coming back from being punched. Because of a lot of rain. Fairways are soft and frowning. Overall course in good condition and always challenging
Thank you so much for your review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed our course. We appreciate your feedback, and hope to see you back in the future.
Yikes
Course is extremely rough! I’d forgive punched greens but they double punched cigar size holes and didn’t sand properly. All grass on course is dead. Bunkers are mud.
I paid $23, it was worth $10 maybe. The layout has potential and the only reason I’d give this course any stars.
Nice pro shop. Friendly staff. Gas carts.
Lots of construction, maybe when houses are full and course gets members / hoa money it’ll will improve, but i won’t return for at least 3 years.
Thank you for your review and for offering us some feedback. We appreciate the comments of our guests as that allows us to improve the experience for our players when they return.
We did do larger holes than normal (1/4" larger) than we normally do during aeration. This was done because of the severe drought conditions we've been having in this area this spring. The ponds are several feet below normal level and the county has been rationing out water to be used for irrigation. This forced us into limiting water to some areas on the golf course, which made some of it turn brown. However, with the recent rains we have had the course is nice and green. The greens have almost fully recovered (one more week should do the trick) and the construction crossing the first fairway was completed, as we installed a new drain line there and that took approximately one week. We will be laying fresh sod over that area but it is not in play as it is short of the fairway and out past the tee markers.
We think your next visit to the course will be much different as overall, the course is rounding into great shape with the rains and the greens are nearly healed up.
Nice layout
Played today and out side of recent
Aeration on greens, was in good shape. 1st hole was back to the regular configuration after construction. Please note that I was alerted to aeration before booking tee time. Staff was excellent and food was great.
Thank you for leaving us a nice review and for understanding about the aerated greens. While it certainly makes them bumpy for a short time, it is necessary for the long term health. We expect them to be back to normal in the very near future as they are healthy and the recent rains are speeding up recovery!
Nice place
Construction on hole one but it was still nice. Greens were aerated and sandy but still better than most courses. Golf lunch and range balls for 31.00 can’t beat it. Food is good also. Nice place.
Thank you for your review and we're glad to hear you had a good day at the club. The greens are well on their way to recovering and they are very healthy!
Great weather and great course.
Had a wonderful time today. Only issue was greens being aerated, but knew that ahead of time. So no issues with that, other then that it didn’t help my sad putting. Perfect lunch also, so make sure you have time for a meal.
Thank you so much for leaving us a nice review. The greens are almost fully healed and should be playing great again in about a week. Thank you for understanding as we, as well as many other golf courses go through their Spring aeration. Hope to see you again soon!
Thank you for your review and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Great layout
Played this course today, and was in pretty good shape. 1st hole has temporary tee box due to construction, other than that was very enjoyable. Staff was excellent and food service was great!
Highly recommend.
Thank you for leaving us a review and for joining us for a fun day! The construction project should not take very long on #1 and it hasn't impacted the tees or the fairway so luckily it will not be in play. Thank you for understanding and we hope to see you again soon!

First two holes are ugly and chewed up. Most other holes are much nicer. Greens were good. Thanks for staying open for the covid!!!

A few nice holes away from houses. Greens were pretty good but much of the course is bunged up. The first two holes are ugly and unlike most of the other holes. ...back nine is better than the front.
Thanks for staying open during COVOID19
Hi Chris. Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review and offer some feedback. While the construction is certainly not optimal out there right now, we are hopeful that the impacts to the golf course will be very short lived and once it is completed, we will actually have a beautiful new pond on the second hole. The rest of the golf course will be unaffected and should continue to play great. We hope to see you again soon!
N. Brevard Gem needs some lovin
We played this gem on 3-16. The pond clearing operations continue - and frankly are over due. In 10 or 15 yrs I've never seen it done so, good for you IRP. Lots of construction being done on the first fairway... about a dozen homes coming out of the ground at the same time.
This little gem needs some lovin, I played it about 5 months ago and it was near perfect for a public course. Today we saw many bald spots in the fairways - T boxes were in poor shape for the most part, and the greens need attention.... more than fertilizer !!! I talked to the pro he was very accommodating - I recommend IRP - I'll be back for sure, but I'd give them about 2 months to get the course back in shape. Good luck IRP. !!! We're routing for you. The lunch and warm up bucket is the deal of the day. TRy it !!!
Mr. Springer, Thank you for your kind words and for leaving us an honest review. We have had an EXTREMELY successful busy season here at the club and the course is showing a bit of the wear. However, we have already implemented our summer fertilization and maintenance schedule and expect to see rapid results. The course has almost no weeds so we will be pushing fertilizer heavily and expect within a 3 to 4 week period to have the course back to where you remember it 5 months ago. We are excited for the great course conditions this summer and are very excited to have you back!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I apologize your day was less than perfect. Our team is doing a lot of work to the golf course right now that is going to improve golf course conditions in the long run. We look forward to your next visit when we can show off all of the improvements!
The course really produced a great day
Spent my day playing 27 at Indian river preserve today. Got a breakfast sandwich and drink from Amber and staff at the restaurant. The course was under repai but the staff kindly reminded us before the round and provided a great discount and for $5 extra we got balls and lunch. Course was playing great with the only inconvenience of some dredging of the ponds. But they gotta be done sometime so no big deal. Will offered some local knowledge and took care of us in the golf shop. Appreciated bringing my friends there and ended with some awesome wings on the way out.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we are glad you enjoyed your day at the club!
Disappointment
Brought my son;'s bachelor party to the course for a fun round of golf. 9am tee time, got to the course a little after 8 as range balls were included in the round as was lunch, Tried to get a breakfast sandwich and was told restaurant not open until 11am. Went to driving range after dodging heavy equip found the range to be unkept grass uncut weeds all around. Headed off to putt a few putting green was sanded with no signs of it being drug in to work into the soil. poana popping up all over the green. Went into Pro shop asked if all greens where as bad as the putting area told we sanded and the overnite rain should watered the sand in. Not At All. Very hard to get any kind of putt to stay on line. As our round continued found mounds of dredged soil from the many ponds piled along the edges of many of the so called fairways very little grass. After we trudged through our round we went for our included lunch. Once again disappointed Got fish and chips 2 very very small pieces of cod, looked about the size of a fish stick and a few French fries. To top it off 3 12 oz draft beers cost $12 and change. Had to be the worst golfing experience. I've ever had. I worked in the golf industry for 15 years and never have I seen a course run as poorly run as this one, I usually lean the other way with understanding having been on the other side of the counter. Once told my staff a happy customer tells 1 friend of the good things but a unhappy customer tells everyone. Rest assured everyone will know.

We are sorry you did not enjoy your experience at the club today. We certainly have a lot of work going on around the golf course in order to improve the long-term health and conditions of the facility. All of this work combined with the warmer temperatures and rain should have the course in great shape in a short time and we will have completed our cleanup of the ponds. We are dredging the accumulated vegetation in order to keep the ponds healthy for all of our wildlife out here.
Please send an email to randrews@indianriverpreservegolfclub.com and reference this review. We would like to have you back out as our guest in a month or two after we have completed all of the work to the ponds and show you our improved course conditions.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad you had a fun day at the course and look forward to seeing you again soon!
