A few nice holes away from houses. Greens were pretty good but much of the course is bunged up. The first two holes are ugly and unlike most of the other holes. ...back nine is better than the front.

N. Brevard Gem needs some lovin
We played this gem on 3-16. The pond clearing operations continue - and frankly are over due. In 10 or 15 yrs I've never seen it done so, good for you IRP. Lots of construction being done on the first fairway... about a dozen homes coming out of the ground at the same time.
This little gem needs some lovin, I played it about 5 months ago and it was near perfect for a public course. Today we saw many bald spots in the fairways - T boxes were in poor shape for the most part, and the greens need attention.... more than fertilizer !!! I talked to the pro he was very accommodating - I recommend IRP - I'll be back for sure, but I'd give them about 2 months to get the course back in shape. Good luck IRP. !!! We're routing for you. The lunch and warm up bucket is the deal of the day. TRy it !!!
Mr. Springer, Thank you for your kind words and for leaving us an honest review. We have had an EXTREMELY successful busy season here at the club and the course is showing a bit of the wear. However, we have already implemented our summer fertilization and maintenance schedule and expect to see rapid results. The course has almost no weeds so we will be pushing fertilizer heavily and expect within a 3 to 4 week period to have the course back to where you remember it 5 months ago. We are excited for the great course conditions this summer and are very excited to have you back!

The course really produced a great day
Spent my day playing 27 at Indian river preserve today. Got a breakfast sandwich and drink from Amber and staff at the restaurant. The course was under repai but the staff kindly reminded us before the round and provided a great discount and for $5 extra we got balls and lunch. Course was playing great with the only inconvenience of some dredging of the ponds. But they gotta be done sometime so no big deal. Will offered some local knowledge and took care of us in the golf shop. Appreciated bringing my friends there and ended with some awesome wings on the way out.

Disappointment
Brought my son;'s bachelor party to the course for a fun round of golf. 9am tee time, got to the course a little after 8 as range balls were included in the round as was lunch, Tried to get a breakfast sandwich and was told restaurant not open until 11am. Went to driving range after dodging heavy equip found the range to be unkept grass uncut weeds all around. Headed off to putt a few putting green was sanded with no signs of it being drug in to work into the soil. poana popping up all over the green. Went into Pro shop asked if all greens where as bad as the putting area told we sanded and the overnite rain should watered the sand in. Not At All. Very hard to get any kind of putt to stay on line. As our round continued found mounds of dredged soil from the many ponds piled along the edges of many of the so called fairways very little grass. After we trudged through our round we went for our included lunch. Once again disappointed Got fish and chips 2 very very small pieces of cod, looked about the size of a fish stick and a few French fries. To top it off 3 12 oz draft beers cost $12 and change. Had to be the worst golfing experience. I've ever had. I worked in the golf industry for 15 years and never have I seen a course run as poorly run as this one, I usually lean the other way with understanding having been on the other side of the counter. Once told my staff a happy customer tells 1 friend of the good things but a unhappy customer tells everyone. Rest assured everyone will know.

We are sorry you did not enjoy your experience at the club today. We certainly have a lot of work going on around the golf course in order to improve the long-term health and conditions of the facility. All of this work combined with the warmer temperatures and rain should have the course in great shape in a short time and we will have completed our cleanup of the ponds. We are dredging the accumulated vegetation in order to keep the ponds healthy for all of our wildlife out here.
Please send an email to randrews@indianriverpreservegolfclub.com and reference this review. We would like to have you back out as our guest in a month or two after we have completed all of the work to the ponds and show you our improved course conditions.
Disappointed
There was constant construction and noise. TheY had just punched the greens and they were terrible. They had no power in the club house and couldn’t serve us lunch despite another table (probably developers or board members) were eating and having cocktails. I’m never going back.
I apologize about your experience at the golf course today. We do indeed have a lot going on at the club, but it is all in an effort to improve the golf course conditions. The ponds are being dredged in order to remove excess vegetation within the water to keep them clean, healthy, and beautiful all year long. The greens were not aerified today, as it is not quite the season for that, although we did top dress them this morning. While we realize that is not the most favorable playing condition, we have to do it periodically to keep the greens healthy and smooth. As for the power outage, the construction crews at the property next door were digging and accidentally hit a power line off of our property just after noon. I apologize that we could not serve your group lunch. Without power, our hood system in the kitchen does not function and we cannot prepare food any longer in accordance with state health code rules. However, some parties may have already had their lunch served right before you came through which may have seemed like we were still serving.
We certainly realize that this was a very busy day on the course and the power outage was a very unlucky and inconvenient event. We'd like to host you back out on a normal day for a round of golf sometime. Pleasant Round
Course condition, assigned playing partners and pace were all very good until the back nine. Starting on hole 12 the pace suddenly stoppeed. I went up to the foursome in front of asked if they knew what backed us up since I could see two twosomes on the hole in front of them. I was tol a fivesome was in front of the twosomes and had just cleared the hole . The twosome I was originally playing with deserted after the 14th and the single who caught up to us on the 14th tee deserted after the 15th. I finished the 18 but felt a pleasant round had an anoying ending.

We do not allow 5-somes on the course so if two groups did join in front of you, feel free to let us know in the golf shop in the future so we can make sure to split them up and keep the pace moving.

I’ve played this course a number of times in past years and always recommend it. But have not played in the past 2 years and was disappointed with what has happened to its condition. Very nice staff but the course needs help !!
Thank you for your honest review and feedback. Our grounds crew is working very hard to improve the golf course this spring. Growing season is right around the corner and we expect conditions to improve rapidly. The end of the winter season after all of the play is always the most difficult time of the year for courses that do not overseed wall to wall.
We are also doing lots of other great improvements including widening some tees, dredging and cleaning out the ponds, and completing our Audubon certification!
We hope that you will give us another chance in a couple months and see the positive impacts all of the hard work has had as temperatures reach the point where the course starts growing again!
Great course
One of the best we play, lots of fun a Challenge to play. Add the lunch to it and the experience is top notch.

Conditions
I was not impressed with the course conditions. Fairways and tee boxes were beat up.
Thank you for leaving us a review and for your honest feedback. The end of the winter season right before the growing season starts is always the most difficult time of year for us as we have been busy all season and the grass hasn't quite kicked into gear yet.
However, our crew has been working very hard to make sure the course is in prime condition to take off once temperatures climb. We expect the course to be in great shape in short order and hope you will come back and see all of the improvements we are making!
Conditions
I wasn’t impressed with the course conditions. Fairways & tee boxes were beat up.
Fun, but challenging.
Love this layout. Challenging and fair. Wind was 14-20 knots, so today was extra hard. Greens look bad and are very thin, but they were fast and putted well.
Summer will see this course get better for sure. Food service was excellent.
Worth the drive. I have played here many times.
Thank you for your great review! You are correct in identifying the greens and fairways being a little thin as we near the end of the busy winter season. However, the crew has been working extremely hard to have everything in place for some major growth to take off when temperatures arrive. We're also dredging the lakes to make sure they are cleaned up and beautiful!

Wow!!
Probably the toughest course I’ve played in a decade! The wind was 20mph , but the fairways were generous! The greens were very receptive, but probably the most difficult greens I’ve ever read!!! This course made me realize how difficult the pros have and how talented they are! The fairways could use a little thicker grass, but it is February...may be thicker in the spring/summer! I will try my luck again!!

We anticipate the fairways to grow in thick as soon as temperatures reach the growing point. We have put a lot of fertilizer in the ground so as soon as spring hits everything will take off and grow fast!

Friendly staff gets you going. Front nine
sets you up for the more difficult back, although the 9th is no slouch. Conditions
are rough in spots including tee boxes. It
is winter and it appears they are working to improve so they get a pass.
Interesting and challenging layout with numerous forced carries and water ready
to gobble errant shots.Shotmakers course.

Tough track and nice design

Good value could be higher if not for conditions. A little rough in spots but they seem to be working on it. A shame they will surround the course with homes...
Thank you for your honest feedback and review! The crew is working very hard to have the course ready for growing season this spring. We expect that as soon as we get some warmer temperatures we will see a lot of growth. We have put a lot of work into making sure the nutrients and fertilizers are in the soil in anticipation of warmer temperatures.
Worth the dirve
its a little off the beaten path but worth it. I had not seen teh course as Walkabout but know they like so many others had financing issues. The course is coming around to those that know the old conditions. Greens are good, fairways, tees, bunkers will take some time.
This is a very challenging course if you want to shoot a good number. That said , most although not all , have bail out areas for those more timid or less aggressive or talented.
I will be going back soon and suggest you give it a try.

While the construction is certainly not optimal out there right now, we are hopeful that the impacts to the golf course will be very short lived and once it is completed, we will actually have a beautiful new pond on the second hole.
