Course needs some love...
Great layout, great staff, great food. Driving range is terrible as well as many of the tee boxes. Can't believe that the course has fallen so far. Spent all that money on a beautiful club house with great food....and the course is worse then ever....
Good value
Decent course and layout. Menu is good value also.
No complaints.
Nice condition in spite of very dry season
All the lower FL courses appear to show the effects of no seasonal rainfall. Here, however, the fairways still have green grass, and the ground is hard and dry. The greens are also green and carpet like, and I suspect they are cut longer than I prefer tp reduce burning. In any case, they ran true but quite slow. The layout is well designed, and was only in 2 traps, which were a little thin, but playable. This could be a 5 star course with normal rainfalls. And lastly, pace of play, 3.5 hours, and only that long because as a lone single with no one ahead or behind, I caught two foursomes by the 9th hole. Could have passed them but declined offers, it was too nice of a day.
Challenging course. Always fun.
This course has fairly easy holes broken up by extremely difficult ones. The harder holes are fair, but tough.
The course is in pretty good shape. The greens were nice, but rolled slower. Every cheap(er) course is somewhat brown right now, but it played great.
Worth the haul out there from Orlando.
slow
Nice course but very dry like most other area courses unless you pay more
No Ranger and slow groups really keep you waiting - so nearly 5 hour round
Greens are fairly good
Worth the drive!
I like trying new courses out rather than playing the same courses all the time. For me this was a 45 minute drive from Lake Mary. It was well worth my drive. Pulled up to a beautiful clubhouse and greeted by several friendly employees. The course was in great shape and the greens were the nicest around. The layout was tough but very fun. Glad I found emergency balls in my bag as I burned through a dozen pretty fast. For the winter time the pace of play was really good.
Great course
Great course, it's a work in progress. If you want a challenging game, give it a try!
Value for money
Greens are the best part of the course. They roll true, no bare or dead spots. Tee boxes are in bad shape, fairways have thin and bare spots. Perhaps they will improve later in the spring. Staff is excellent and restaurant has great food.
Hidden gem
The course was in good condition and I enjoyed playing it. The course has some unique holes that can challenge the average golfer (such as myself). We also got a great lunch added in for an additional $5.
The pro shop was nothing special, but the restaurant was nice.
I really liked the fact that no 2 holes are alike. Can't wait to get back there.
Good Course with good value
Course is in good condition. Back nine greens a little slow and need cutting. Nice isolated course with no houses or other structures intruding. Water in play on many holes especially back nine.
GOOD BUT COULD BE BETTER
NICE LAYOUT,VERY FRIENDLY STAFF COURSE COULD BE A LIITLE BETTER SHAPE THIN LAYER OF GRASS ON GREENS COULD USE ALITTLE TLC BUT WOULD RECOMEND THIS COURSE TO PLAY
Following the Walking Dead
4.5 hours to play 14 holes and then we just gave up. No ranger to tell group ahead not to fish for their balls. Weather changed and it began to rain so we just quit. Driving in we passed a 3 some waiting in the #15 fairway. #16 a 4 some just teeing off, #17 a foursome in the fairway and #18 an open hole. It is not hard to tell a group at the turn that they need to pickup the pace. 2 hours is plenty of time to play 9 holes with a cart. 4.5 hours is too long to play just 14 holes is too long. The staff needs to get with it or we'll just spend our money somewhere else.
Ok course, bad experience
Used to play here a lot but have been mostly playing other places lately. Came back day after New Year's for an afternoon round. Got around front quickly but hit a backup on 10. Front was empty so figured I'd play front twice as I clearly wouldn't be able to finish back before sunset. Starter actually chased me to first green and was remarkably rude. So much so, that I picked up and left. There are better places for the money not far away that treat players much better. I won't be back.
Decent at best
It's a decent track layout. It's not boring golf that is challenging & makes you think.
The greens are in pretty good shape.
But it's downhill from there.
It's not very well maintained. Lots of rough spots all over the course.
There's nothing I hate more than to be just a few paces off the green & hitting from dirt instead of grass/turf.
I live in Orlando. If I lived around Mims ( I have no clue if there are other courses around Mims)... and it's my only choice, than I'd be happy to have a course near me.
But for me to drive 50 minutes from Oviedo and pay $40 for that course, does not make sense.
I tried it once 5-6 years ago. Wasn't too impressed then. But with a name change, new clubhouse and I presumed.... renovations to the course - I expected it to be in better shape.
I was wrong. It's very unlikely I'll make another 50 minute drive to play there again.
Not disagreeing with the slow play and course conditions but you can't see any of the holes on your drive up except #1 and #10 tee box. So it makes your review seem off.
