Very Challenging
This is a hilly challenging course. If your a good ball striker and in good physical shape then this course is for you. It is not only a fun course for a golfer who can shoot in the 80's or lower. It is a physically challenging
course that gives you a workout on almost every single hole. Make sure your in good shape to play this course.
You will be walking up and down many steep hills.
The greens are some of the best in Socal apart from the Palm Springs are. Best greens for the price definitely.
This course has great view.
I love the lay out of the golf course. Great view on every
Golf hole. I enjoy it a lot, planned on going there again.
One of better courses in Inland Empire
A thinking golfers course. It plays to about 4hrs 15min round. While being a long hitter helps you can't really grip it and rip it on this course. There is a lot of canyons and out of bounds. Not a course for beginners. I usually play the Corona courses Dos Lagos/Eagle Glen/Glen Ivy/Hidden Valley on wknds but this course will now be part of the rotation.
Save your money
First time at this course. As you drive up...your expectations of a great day build. Beautiful grounds. Cart and pro shop staff friendly and professional. So for curb appeal and staff friendliness the course gets 5 stars.
For the golf course itself....conditions and design...can i give it ZERO stars? Ok...one good thing, the greens are fast. But they are SO pockmarked with ballmarks nobody fixed for days...kinda negates that.
Vellano golf experience
I had a great time playing on my first greg norman designed course. It was difficult, uneven lies and fairways. You have to have good course management on this course. The views were wonderful and the mansions around the course were nice to look at. I had the pleasure of playing with the club pro on a couple of holes, he was so nice and gave me a couple of good tips. the course was very well maintained and the greens fast and challenging to judge at times. the staff was very nice and the clubhouse was beautiful and well appointed. A course very well worth playing, the carts have gps and come with ice chests. I will definitely go back.
Remember every hole afterall
great ............
Everyone should play in that course once.
Excellent and noble course, absolute rarity!
We, 4some, had a hot deal via Golfnow.com and super private golf course quality with the incredible low price. Best especially in the winter season.
nice view, great layout!
Beautiful views in most of the holes, condition need a little more attention. Green are little tricky. Love the layout will be back.
Great and Challenging course
It has it all........ Play from the tips and the game is on.....manage the course and you'll be a winner......
Greens are fast and true.....in immaculate shape.....
hitting to the right section of the green is and can be critical, and that's what makes this course so memorable......
Bar was unattended....we were hoping to have a drink and unwind with a recap of the days round, but no one was home............ beautiful bar and dining area......maybe next time......
to those reviewers who trash this course, then you don't know a good course when you see one
I see reviews such as slow play and stuff like that. My buddies and i have played here multiple times and the course for one has been in excellent shape, fast smooth greens and many have complained about brown grass, it's bermuda people, may be brown in spots but never had a bad lie out there. This course is fun to play, you can play various types of shots, use back and side boards, just have to play it. also people complain about slow play, we've played it at least 8 times on weekends and holidays and never had any real long rounds and more often than not, we've had the course to ourselves. well worth the golf now prices
So slow
It took us 2 hours 50 minutes to finish 9 holes. This is the longest 9 holes we ever played. If you really want to play here, prepare for 6+ hours to stay.
Think before playing here
Private club open to public........not really.
Members get to do whatever they want, play slow ( 5 hour golf) , leave ball marks on greens and divots in fairways....horrible--- 30 or more on some greens, and more. To many to list. Poorly managed course. Should stay private. Play anywhere else.
The twosome in front of us left after 4 ( remember we stated on 10) so after 13 holes they jumped around the member 4 some 2 groups ahead, to finsh 8 and 9 ( there 17 and 18th holes). This member 4 some was the worst over five hours.
They start u on 10, because is good for the carts. But bad for lay out, it was made to play 1 thru 18 for a reason. Not good. No ball washers, very poor gps or whever it was, none would be better, its the
Ittle things. Leave it to the members...they deserve it.
We have played 80 some different courses in California this is in the bottom 20 at best...and its a counrty club ....yeah right. Oh and dont wear a hat ...they dont allow hats in club house...except for members....really. Get over yourself.
Some ok views, and great big clubhouse building
Wow, big deal. You have better choices
Nice experience
course is certainly off the beaten path. However, probably worth the drive. They start you out on the 10th hole, where you might experience 12-14 as a pain in the neck. The rest of the course is really nice. Staff was great, as they have been all three times I have played the course. Pace of play was excellent, as I played mid week as a single.
Hold on
Sanded greens and not warned. Local course knowledge a must. Highly penalized if don't know the course.
up and down course
find a good landing is the key to play this course! both fairway and green had different levels! not much flat open holes! fun can challenge
course condition is getting back to par after the new management! new golf cart and new GPS system will be install soon, I heard!
Nice but not for certain players.
Course was awesome. Views unparalleled. Not a course for mid to high handicappers. Too many rolling hills, and you MUST pinpoint your shots. The ball tended to be above or below my feet the whole round, little flat lies....and poor yardage markers, no poles, few sprinkler heads w/yardage, and no stripes on cart path.
Great course
It was my second time, and I loved it! Especially $35 Hot Deal was an awesome deal! The location is little bit too inside of mountain, but the view is so beautiful. My tee time was at 2pm for two, and there was a group of 4 at first tee. So the staff took us to back 9 first to avoid the traffic. I really enjoyed playing there and look forward to play again.
9/13
Played Vellano for the first time . Views exceptionally. A few dumb holes 14& 15. Very windy. If you don't like playing in it don't go there. A definite challenge and it is certainly Big Boy or Girl golf. greens have ridges and if on wrong side you will 3 putt. NO GPS so you have no idea where ridges are.
That said layout is fun , you have to think. worst part to me was there were only ever 8 players on course that I ever saw and they were in the 2 groups ahead of us. We were 3 and waited on every shot on the back 9. The groups were playing the course at 6600 yards and had no place in doing such. So a round that should have been 3/12 to 4 was 41/2 + hours to play. If this courses tee sheet is ever pack we are talking about a 5:30 minute round easily. I understand not having a marshall since so few are out there but POP will be an issue here on busy days
Target Golf
Course was very challenging, be prepared to loose a lot of balls, otherwise not to bad.
