Don't play after 1:30...
...if you intend on finishing all 18 holes. Unfortunately there are a bunch of Asian golfers that really like to take their time on this course. Also the pro shop workers were no help at all; had a tee time for 1 at 1:30 and due to how they were sending people off I didn't get to start until 2 and thus only finished 16 holes before it got too dark.
On the plus side the course was AMAZING for the price. It is a country club but on the weekends you can play after noon for around $60ish which for what you pay for is amazing. Some elevation change but the holes were a blast to aim shots on. THE BEST GREENS I HAVE PLAYED ON IN A LONG TIME.
Play here if you can get a tee time right at noon.
Challenging Course
Played the course on the 10th of October and found the course to be in nice shape. 2 things to remember about this course, huge greens and very fast greens. Greens being so big make sure you figure out pin placement, because marking on the ground can be anywhere from 5 to 20 yards farther or closer. Pace of play yesterday was a little slow, but usually you can finish in about 4 hours. Make sure you bring the wood, because you will need to carry quite a bit off the tee. 3 & 4 are quite fantastic holes, 9 is a beast and 18 is a nice finishing hole.
Enjoy.
no gps on carts which makes it difficult to use the right club as there is alot of elevaton change, blind spots and huge greens.( up to 3 clubs) no bal
has a gated entrance were you wait for the guard to call the shop to confirm your time.is tucked into the hills with lots of elevation changes, blind spots and huge greens that play upto 4 clubs differance.very surprised a private club would not have gps on a course that really needs it.also no ball washers or monuments at holes to show layout of holes. greens were in good shape with o.k. fairways and tee boxes.
great greens
Nice course in good shape. Green in great shape. Needs GPS on carts as hard to find sprinklers for yardage. Lots of wind!!!
The greens were immaculate, tee boxes gave a wide variety of challenges, most of the fairways were in great shape.
A couple of slow playing foursomes created a bit of bottleneck. The course is spreads all over the hills. Quite scenic views and great elevation changes. Glad they have gone semi-private and opened to the public now.
Every hole seemed to have steep sloping. I don't mind some holes with sloping, but every hole?
This course used to be a private course, but it seems that they are desperate for money and have opened it up to the public. The course is challenging, but it seems like every hole is sloped. I am not a fan of this type of course as you have to over analyse and triangulate every hole before you hit the ball. Hard to let loose and enjoy, when you are practically trying to calculate missile coordinates. The mgmt is clearly looking to generate as much revenue as possible as they ended up cramming a group of SIX ahead of us as we approached the 10th hole. We had to negotiate them letting us play ahead as the round would have been 5+ hours had we waited for them. Never saw a marshall during the entire rd. I am not sure that I see this course surviving, but who knows. I will not be back as there are way too many nice courses in the area that are managed with care and attention to the customer.
Almost Ridiculous
This course is hard. Almost to the point it's not worth making the trip out there. It was in decent shape but there's so much trouble and tee shots have to be near perfect (and par 4s are not short). In the hill side, so many changes in elevation and bounces rarely go in your favor. Worth a try, but be prepared to be frustrated for 4 hours.
The course was in good shape but can use markings
It was difficult to determine the yardage to the pin after your tee shot because the carts were not GPS equipped and the course was not marked. Some sprinkler heards had the yardage on them, but here were some fairways which were devoid of any markings. Bring your own yardge marker or you will be hitting your second shot blind
Beauty meets The Beast
Crazy greens, difficult lies, one blind shot after another, uphill, downhill, around the hill, on the side of the hill, at the bottom of the hill, here a hill, there a hill, everywhere a hill or two or three. These greens have hills which can make you put a five break putt. one of the most beautiful layout that i never imagined that I would play. More than just a test, a potential nightmare waiting to happen on every shot.
Bring a lots of golf balls and enjoy the scenery great great looks all day
every shot will be a test
The course is very beautiful until you realize you have to hit golf ball to some very challenging fairway.
After about 5 holes I had this vision of Norman sitting on his boat, drink in hand, watching Robin Williams standup about golf, when he designed this course.
It sits back in the hills of Chino Hills with great views of Pomona Valley and the mountains. Scattered around some of the fairway are small mansions (5 to 10 thousand ft. ).
The fairways are very hilly and sloped away from all the landing areas. The greens roll true but a bit slow for my taste.
Low handicappers will be challenged every shot and high handicappers .... well just bring lots of golf balls.
Great course, challenging but fun!!
Course was in pretty good shape. Green were very nice, not extremely fast but rolled really nice. This course has many challenging holes and putting your ball in the right place is a must. Great outing with your buddies, definitely a great value for the price!!
This course has some very challenging holes
I've never had the opportunity to play this course so when I saw this great deal on Golfnow I couldn't pass it up. I Had heard good and bad things about the course so I had to see and play it for myself. I thought the course was in good shape, had some very challenging holes. The course is very hilly but had plenty of landing spots. Over-all I thought the course was nice and I would play it again.
Most fairways were narrow and have some slope. Green was very slow. I had to walk some distance between the most of greens and cart path.
I think overall condition of course is just average, but the green was way to slow. I wouldn't recommend my friend to play this course on hot summer days. You need to walk some distance between the most of greens and cart path. There was no ball washer at all and the cart was outdated without GPS. The course does not have a noticeable distance mark or post.
this course has potential
no ball washer
no ice chest
no GPS
no drink cart
My buddy was forced to buy a pair of shorts. I wore a pair of long sports, and was challenged. I understand this course is private, but since it is open to public now, I don't believe they need to be that strick on dress code. Besides, the condition of the facility is below my expectation as a private club.
I was seriously considering joining.
Very challenging course, but fun to play.
If you're a beginner, I would stay away from this course. It's very tough. If you're looking for a challenge and a quite place to play, this is a great course.
Elevate your game
I had written a large article but I hit the wrong button and it vanished and I have no time to do another...but!
You have to play this course. It will eat you alive if you cannot control the ball flight. Elevated shots all day with do not miss fairways and slopes that run off the edge of the earth. Just so darn good!
The staff is the best you will find anywhere. It was a private club and its obvious. You are paid attention to and welcomed so well. Staff you have done your job and so well that you separate yourselves from the rest.
Bent Greens = pure roll
Most of the courses in the socal area are poa grass so bumps come w the territory. They heal quickly but you have to hit your putts hard or they will go off line. I love the bent greens on this course bc putts roll true. It takes a little bit to get used to you can't blame ne1 else for missed putts... only yourself :)
Greg Norman courses can get targety in design and this course is no different. It takes 2-3 outings before you know where to miss on the course. There are some very picturesque holes: #4 - par 3 with a forces 190-200 yard carry is a TOUGH TOUGH hole. Right is death on this hole.
It can get windy, sometimes as much as the British Open. Definitely need to develop a punch shot but I've developed some good touch w letting my irons run onto the green instead of just carry and checking on the green. The breeze helps bc it can get hot out but not when it gets really windy...
You need a laser rangefinder or gps unit. There are yardages on sprinkler heads but not enough and carts do not have GPS. The cell reception is bad here so iphones/android may not work well. My Leupold works fine here.
There are dry spots on the course and it looks like they don't water the course enough. Water is not the issue but overseeding. I was told by the head pro that they don't overseed the course with 2 different grasses so it's healthier but not as green as other courses...
It can be tough for older golfers going up and down from cart to green or tee box to cart...
This is my home course and it's not perfect but there is a lot to like. It feels private bc it's so quiet and the homes are amazing. The pace of play can be very quick. I've finished 18 in 2 1/2 hours by myself. I LOVE OUR GREENS HERE... LOVE LOVE LOVE. But it's challenging... Tee it forward the first couple of times and have fun.
Challenging dynamic course
It does take a good game to keep up with the course. It is extremely challenging, but very fun to work through. I will be back many times to play again. Course was rough in a few spots.
this corse seems to be dying! theres a funk up there!!! poor conditions and weird vibes... like its going out of business!
it was a big let down. they better shape up.......
The course is for above average golfers and not for the old. Even with carts you will walk up and down steep hills.
Bring lots of balls and you better like playing in the wind!!!!!
