The Golf Club of California
About
Situated just outside of Temecula, the Golf Club of California enjoys a scenic landscape provided by the rolling hills north of San Diego. The terrain is ideal for a round of golf, offering verdant acres of countryside blanketed with mature oaks, sycamores, and towering eucalyptus trees and accented with redtop grasses, which border the carefully manicured fairways and greens. Although there is an abundance of trees, the course still has many wide-open areas. The pristine white sand bunkers and colorful wildflowers are a beautiful contrast to the lush green of the course. The layout is not particularly long, but golfers should be prepared for a challenging round of target golf. The course features narrows fairways, plenty of elevation changes, and tricky greens that require an accurate approach. There are also a few meandering creeks that come into play.

This course challenges even the single digit handicappers
I can't wait to have our travel group play it for the first time!
Nice course
Even with a tournament ahead of us the pace of play was only 4 1/4 hours. Well maintained. Worth the $60 each we paid and the staff was great.
Nice course to play.
I recently played The Golf Club of California the other day. The course was in OK shape but needed a lot more growin'. The course is spread out all over the place. You could have lunch between holes while ridiing in your cart, They are that spread apart. The fairways were hard and there wasn't much grass, The greens had been punched within the last week or 10 days and we had to invoke the "Waffle Iron Rule" (max two putts). There are a few holes where the pin placement is outright silly. At least three of the greens are outright silly especially the one with a sandtrap is the middle of the green. Speaking of the traps they had nice sand and were well maintained. I would like to play this course one more time in a couple of months to see if fairway and greens growth makes a difference in my opinion. I thought that based on the condition of the course it was overpriced and there was no "Senior Rate". My golf buddies and I can play a lot more courses in Temecula that are just as nice if not better and for a lot less money.
nice to play
good price with fast play and the overall experience is pleasant.
great course
Played as a twosome. Paid a great rate, due to the greens being sanded. This is a nice track with lots of challenging holes. will play again when greens are back in shape.
Like the course a lot.
The course was great, but the greens were sanded VERY heavily, and they didn't say anything before we went out. I thought for the money they could have offered a discount predicated on that alone....Other than that it was fun..!!!
Great course
Had a great time on this course. It was challenging and in great shape. Got a great deal through GolfNow!
Some holes require precise placement of ball or you'll pay.
Overall a pretty well maintained course. The only exceptions are that there are no waste receptacles and cold drinking water provided along the whole course. Additionally for an expensive course no gps on carts.
Very challenging
Course should be played more than once to appreciate its challenging layout. It was in very good condition and is locted in a naturally beautiful environment. Good value.
One of the best in San Diego County
Played the Golf Club of California Tuesday afternoon. As a twosome we completed the round in 3:20. The course was in absolutely beautiful shape. One of our top five in the San Diego County. Sad to hear they are working to take the course private, just another incentive to get out there again and again and again. Highly recommend this course for every level of player.
Enjoyed it -
Fun layout that's not too long but accurate tee-shots needed. A few tight fairways, but most have some room. Well maintained course, but the greens though, were pretty slow. Large property with space between holes that give a sense of isolated play on most holes. Clubhouse and 19th hole are very tastefully done, a good place to hangout after a round and the service is great.
Nice Club Nice Course and Nice People...
Great course with its many roughs and doglegs!
Nothing really to complain about at all. A few too many two-somes around us but it looked like it was being addressed. Greens and fairways were well groomed. Will be back!

Nice surprise
A serious challenge for us high handicapers. Lots of trouble for us to find.
One of the best in SoCal
A private course that is now open to the public. A great conditioned, very challenging but fair layout. Every staff member we interacted with was very friendly and spoke highly if the course and the staff/members. The clubhouse is beautiful and the 19th hole libations very reasonable. A must play for those in the San Diego area and worth the drive for the LA/Riverside crowd.
Wow
Have played this course a handful of times, and have never seen this course in such immaculate shape! Staff was super friendly let us add a 4th friend to our 3 . Can't wait to play it again
Great course! Excellent staff!
Very welcoming staff. The young man in the pro shop very helpful as was the starter.Course is in very nice shape.
I love this place...
In my opinion it in the top five for the money in San Diego county- I just hope it doesn't get too popular :). Great design, always in better than average conditions and has recently become my go to place during the weekdays.
love this course
Of the 25 or so courses I've played in San Diego County, including some "exclusive" ones, this is my favorite. The greens are a little slower than last year but the conditioning is top notch. Maintenance workers are running all over the place to the point of annoyance. This is an extremely challenging course as indicated by the slope ratings. Hitting the fairways is paramount because of the way the fairways run out. Beware the red stakes. They line both sides of virtually every fairway.
Good value for a well-conditioned championship course!
A challenging, but very fair golf course. I liked the "user-friendly" advanced tees for the ladies with us, and good, varied tee choices for all. Interesting holes and excellent course condition throughout. The scenery was very nice, with any housing being very unobtrusive to the natural setting. Nothing to dislike about this course!
