The Golf Club of California
About
Situated just outside of Temecula, the Golf Club of California enjoys a scenic landscape provided by the rolling hills north of San Diego. The terrain is ideal for a round of golf, offering verdant acres of countryside blanketed with mature oaks, sycamores, and towering eucalyptus trees and accented with redtop grasses, which border the carefully manicured fairways and greens. Although there is an abundance of trees, the course still has many wide-open areas. The pristine white sand bunkers and colorful wildflowers are a beautiful contrast to the lush green of the course. The layout is not particularly long, but golfers should be prepared for a challenging round of target golf. The course features narrows fairways, plenty of elevation changes, and tricky greens that require an accurate approach. There are also a few meandering creeks that come into play.

Wow the fairways were excellent they have a great crew and the greens were great. We enjoyed watching a wedding after a great game of golf, cant beat that. Thank you very much!!!!!!
overpriced.
not a country club course. fairways were hardpan.pace of play was okay.way overpriced.
Tough Course
Very challenging but very nice facilities . Couse is very well kept. I will be returning again and again
The course was in great shape
Great experience from the minute we got there. Best course in area.
Best Course we played in the area
Too bad it was the 2nd last course we played while in the area or we would have played it again.
Golf Course is well designed.
Greens were excellent. Fairways good to great. If I lived in southern CA I would play here a lot...
Great course, one of my favorites
Great course, requires lots of shots. Generous fairways, always in good shape. One of my top 10 in San Diego County in terms of value for the money. Always appreciate a grass driving range that's included in the cost of the round. Let's you get there early and really work on your game.
A wonderful golf experience. The course was in excellent shape.
The best place we played on this golfing trip. Not only the staff, but the "regulars" were extremely friendly. The course was interesting and challenging with beautiful vistas. This is #1 on our return trip.
Review
Starter was sending out 5 or 6 member groups and bumping back booked tee times to accommodate members. A slow round waiting at every shot with no marshalls.
Green rolling fairways and beautiful greens.
The Golf Club of California delivers a challenging and fun experience. Each hole offers a different type of challenge with water in play on two par 3's and some uphill and downhill lies that require skill. Playing the course several times will unlock the secrets to a low score. Greens are manicured and putting off the green in the early season is rewarding. The course is very green for mid January. Enjoy the roll of a desert course with gorgeous mountain views. Busier on weekends. Course enjoys enthusiastic membership.
Great course in great shape
The course was in great shape and offered a great round. The clubhouse and course staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. This is a course I definitely look forward to returning to in the future.
Interesting course, good challenge
First time playing the Golf Club of California and I was very impressed. Upon arrival, the staff in the clubhouse was very welcoming. Range balls are provided just a short drive from the large putting green. Each hole had an interesting feature such that no two holes were too similar. Several holes provided risk/reward options for hitting driver versus 3 wood/hybrid/long iron. Good mix of yardage on Par 4's, from short (about 310) to long (440). Significant elevations changes prove an extra challenge. Course was in very good shape, especially considering recent cold weather (frost delay). Would highly recommend this course to anyone in the San Diego area. Definitely need to play it more than once to figure out best way to approach the course.
one of my favories
One of my favorite course in San Diego county, challenging enough that makes you play strategically. Greens are in pretty good conditions, except for one or two. Fairways are in decent shape, but could use some cleaning of dead leaves around the greens, which make it impossible to find the ball even if it's just off the green. In the winter time there are frost delays until about 9 a.m. (which is much better than rost delays at Rancho Bernardo Inn, where they keep you waiting until 10 a.m. even while it's 55 outside), but it's kind of stupid that they don't have their restaurant open at this time with about 60-80 golfers waiting for a hour with absolutely nothing to do, lost revenues, poor management.
The course was in excellent condition. The greens were fast and true. Fairways were groomed with fair roughs.
My first time played experience was excellent! This course provided fast and true greens, along with groomed fairways and fair roughs. I enjoyed the challenging holes which makes me want to play again and again !
I am not a member (yet), however I have family that lives in Fallbrook. The green fees are currently priced fair ( thru Golfnow.com) which I appreciate. Thanks for the experience and I look forward in playing this course in the future.
Top course in North San Diego.
Great value and super course. Better than Aviara but with similar feel. Need to ride a cart because of the green to tee distances. Incredible architecture! Fair yet challenging. Teed off at 7:50 am and done by 11:40 am. Bring your camera. New course but felt like it was mature. I will definitely return.
Great golf course
Needs a little bit of attention with the drainage. there were several wet spots, should have really played cart path only to preserve the fairways.
the greens were a little bumpy, the speed was inconsistent from one green to another. might be related to extremely cold temperature in the recent days.
the pin placement was plain unfair. Overall a great course.
Great value for public play on a semi-private course
Course and facilities are well maintained. Several tee box selections offering different looks on almost every hole. White tees leave "funky" yardages to the pin for lower handicap players. Outstanding views, value and conditions. I think one of the best in SD County.
Awesome course
They were just coming out of overseeding, along with California trying to wash away with all the rain so it was WET. I can say I love the layout, not to hard for me but the average golfer will find it tough as the fairways are tight, the green complexes are vast. They have a lot of different pin locations so you must be in the correct area on the green or it will get interesting. The greens were very wet and stupid slow tho. For 55 dollars it was a great price. I will be back out there again as long as it is not soaked again.
Great course in all aspects
Great layout, beautifully maintained, challenging but fair, a wonderful round of golf regardless of how one scores.
Fun, challenging, and a good value.
This once private course is now open to the public but has all the great features of a private course. Great clubhouse, nice staff, and that country club feel. The holes are all different and challenging but the layout is very fair with very few extremely tight fairways. A cart is definitely required as many holes are quite a distance apart. Fairways were a bit wet but this was due to recent over-seeding. True and not overly fast greens and good bunkers. I will always go back when the cost is reasonable ( I paid $64 on a weekend)
