Empire Ranch Golf Club

Empire Ranch is always one my favorite courses in the area to play. I was surprised to see the course REALLY wet when we played. I'm assuming it's because the upcoming week is going to be 100+ degrees but quite a few of the holes had large soggy spots in the fairways and standing water on the greens.

The staff was nice as always and the course if perfect shape. I was just surprised how mushy the ground was just from standing in one spot.

Finished a Sunday round in less that 4 hours. Started before 8 AM. Course is in great shape.

I drove 152 miles to play this course because I enjoyed it so much the first time I got to play here. To a person, the staff were friendly and spreading joy. Last round I played was at Yocha De He, another Brad Bell design, and there’s just something extremely inviting about both their designs. A front 9 that is welcoming with fun scoring opportunities, and a back 9 that seems more ready to determine whether your golf game is worth its weight in manure. Just so much fun to play. And for the money, you, uh, could do a lot worse. You should play the track while we still have a water supply.

Fairways and greens are in really good condition. But the bunkers need more TLC. Most of bunkers need more sand. They’re either hard or wet. You have to pitch the ball out instead of full sand shot.

It is still one of the best public golf course in Sacramento region.

Overall it’s not a bad course.

Slow pace of play. Greens have a nice speed.

I don’t recommend playing there on a weekend.

Because of the crazy weather, I got to play for $30, layout great, greens roll like ice. Sand traps terrible, not sure why. Course condition good, don't feel it is worth $70 bucks and I live just down the street, I just don't see the value at $70, but at 30 or 40 bucks with this crazy cool weather, great deal to me. Glad I played, challenging course.

The will Robins group is a bummer here. He’s obviously in it for as much money as possible. The groups clog the course with his students day and night. Avoid weekend mornings and afternoons unless you want to play behind groups of 6.
