The Palmer Course is one of two golf courses at La Cantera Resort, it is named after its famous designer, golf legend Arnold Palmer. Firmly situated on 225 acres of Texas Hill Country, the golf course features plenty of elevation changes to keep golfers on their toes. There is also an abundance of mature oaks covering the course, requiring accuracy off the tees. The unique layout incorporates dramatic waterfalls, lakes, and numerous white sand bunkers throughout. La Cantera Resort’s Palmer Course has several signature holes, most notably the fourth hole. This demanding par 3 requires a long carry over a lake with waterfalls along the front of the green.

Finishing hole. The 2nd shot into the green is possible one of the most beautiful shots a golfer can make. Photo submitted by mstacy769 on 06/27/2013

Fantastic views
Challenging with lots of sand. Play forward if you have a high handicap.
Demanding and challenging.
Great layout with fantastic views of the surrounding San Antonio area. Elevation changes and blind shots require your full attention with plenty of risk/reward opportunities. First time playing the Palmer course and we will definitely return. Highly recommend to add this to your must plays.
Every stroke was a pleasure...
You know how playing some courses you have to find the right patch of grass in the fairway, or you'll be hitting off of hard or wet ground? That's not the case at the Palmer course. This beauty is a joy to play, regardless of your lie. You can make great contact with the ball on their plush bermuda fairways, and spin the ball with ease on the awesome bermuda greens. The grain is everything at the palmer course. PAY ATTENTION TO THE GRAIN! Anyway, we had a blast and Golf Now gave us a super rate at $49.00. Get to know the course on their website via the course tour feature. It will come in handy on the blind tee shots. The GPS system tells you how far the group ahead is and marks their carts so you don't bomb them. You have to play here once before you die! It's great.
Good golf course, fun to play.
the golf course was fantastic, but the food and drink were way overpriced.
Great course........
The clubhouse facility is gorgeous. The golf course matches the clubhouse. I really enjoyed the design. The course makes you think, plan, hit all kinds of shots. Greens were in good shape, very puttable. I would highly recommend playing this course.
Only odd thing was that you could not buy food at the clubhouse after the round......
Great layout but.....
The course was in generally good shape with fairways and bunkers ok for February time frame.
But, the greens had issues. bumpy on some, very grainy on others which made them very slow or moderate speed. Played with 3 other approx 10-12 handicapers and all could not make putts. 25 footers either 6 ft short or banged 6 ft past.
Staff was very nice.
Course was great, personnel was excellent.
I chose the course because it was close to my house and the price from Golfnow was great. Plus it's the Palmer Course at La Cantera. The only problem was we were over charged at the club. When I got home I checked the Golfnow price and call the Palmer course. I left a message of Sunday and Monday and still have not received a call back. We were over charged by Approx. $15.00 per person in my group of four, that enough to play another round.
The course is set in a beautiful area and is very well kept.
We started out late due to a frost delay, while waiting the staff was very friendly and outgoing making sure that we were taken care. Excellent staff and resort.
Course was in excellent condition and staff was very friendly.
The course was in excellent condition. Some holes had blind shots but the gps helped emensely. Fairways were generous and greens were smooth and fast. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to play a fair but yet challenging course.
Absolutely beautiful. Nicest staff I've have ever encountered
Well worth the price. You will enjoy the golf and the scenic views. Course is in great shape. Several tee boxes to challenge golfers of all handicaps.
Loved this course.
Challenging course with fantastic staff.
Bermuda just returning to green but the course played very well and the scenery is amazing.
A must play if you're in San Antonio.
Great Hil Country Course
A great Texas Hill Country layout with great views of San Antonio--and diabolical greens!
Great place to golf if your in the San Antonio Area!
Despite many blind tee shots, which adds to its difficulty, most holes are post card worthy! This course is still playable for the average golfer, but an avid player will not leave here disappointed. Definitely one of my favorites!!
Amazing course
Thus was now the second time I've played here and both times I truly was in awe. This is a very fun, yet very difficult course. Bring plenty of extra golf balls. The course is in perfect shape and the greens roll pure and fast. If you're not careful you'll push you're putt right on past the hole. Plenty of risk/reward shots. It's a bit pricey, but remember....you pay for what you get and that couldnt ring more true than here. Play this course, you won't regret it.
Great staff. Course in very good shape for December.
La Cantera always does a great job. Staff is very good. Course in very good shape. It looks like they did not overseed greens for winter which is good as they still rolled very fast and true. On course beverages pretty expensive so bring some extra cash.
great holes, great views, great challenge
we played under windy conditions which made the challenge even greater but the holes are so well laid out it is a joy to play. Great views and lots of elevation changes.
Don't hit it to the right, you will go over a cliff
There's a few blind shots which can make this course a little tough if it's your first time playing. On the holes with the OB cliff to the right, line up to the left and then adjust some more to the left and then finally aim a bit more to the left! Course slopes to the right on those holes :)
Great layout
For the 1st of December the course was in great. Pace of play was good just under 4 hours. Staff is friendly and courteous. GPS is ok but not the best
In awe of this fantasyland course, amazing views, playability in question.
Highly recommend visiting at least once. Though higher priced, truly worth the experience. Attentive staff, immaculate greens, everything in great condition. Elevation changes, city views, and challenging layout are second to none. Some holes are a bit surreal, which brings true playability into question, but a beautiful piece of property that will keep you smiling and in awe.
The Course is very challenging and requiers golf experience
The Course has great features and is very well manyained.
