La Cantera Resort - The Palmer Course

About
The Palmer Course is one of two golf courses at La Cantera Resort, it is named after its famous designer, golf legend Arnold Palmer. Firmly situated on 225 acres of Texas Hill Country, the golf course features plenty of elevation changes to keep golfers on their toes. There is also an abundance of mature oaks covering the course, requiring accuracy off the tees. The unique layout incorporates dramatic waterfalls, lakes, and numerous white sand bunkers throughout. La Cantera Resort’s Palmer Course has several signature holes, most notably the fourth hole. This demanding par 3 requires a long carry over a lake with waterfalls along the front of the green.

Finishing hole. The 2nd shot into the green is possible one of the most beautiful shots a golfer can make. Photo submitted by mstacy769 on 06/27/2013

Did not disappoint!
I was in town for a wedding and decided to play this course last minute. From the time I arrived I was greeted at the bag drop and taken care of with great customer service. After I checked in the pro shop guy introduced me to the men I’d be playing with and showed me the way to the range so I could warm up. As we got ready to tee off the same guy made conversation and gave me a few pointers about different holes and told me about the restricted areas where the carts wouldn’t go due to GPS. The course was in amazing shape and while it was tough it was still really fun to play. I’d highly recommend it and look forward to playing it again
Nice course
We booked a late tee time and was able to finish in 3:30. Front 9 is laid out well. Back 9 - you need to know where to hit it. Overall. Great experience for a late Saturday round
Beautiful scenery, layout is challenging but great to play
Very challenging
Love the course layout and continues to be very challenging
Palmer Course at La Cantera
Challenging, but fair holes. Greens were fantastic. Fast and true. Pin positions were competitive but not too punishing.
Great course !
Slow play/Sub par service
Course is is decent condition; just sanded greens within the past few days. Great layout. Pace of play was less then adequate. I saw the Marshall ( Greg) once on the front and once on the back (#16). When I saw him on the back side I asked him if he was the marshal. He replied yes both the statue and the marshal. I said we could have used you on the back side; it’s been really slow He just replied again that he’s both the starter and the marshal. I played her a year ago. Quality of personnel has slipped
Great Round!
The Parmer Course was fantastic! La Canteras hidden gem, given that most prefer the resort course. Course is tucked in the hills with rolling fairways and serious elevation change. Bunkers are well kept. Greens are receptive but GLASSY! Thoroughly enjoyed my round and will be back!
Amazing course!
First time playing here and it was absolutely outstanding! Course is in great condition and the greens were on point. For me there isn’t much worse than slow greens and these were super fast. Pretty tough course but plenty of holes to score on. I will most definitely be back to play there!
Overall this course design and layout is amazing and pretty challenging. Course conditions are sub par for a Troon course. Bunkers have rocks in them and the irrigation system looks like it needs work. Their sister course in San Marcos (Kissing Tree) is in much better condition and cheaper green fees.
Very scenic
Excellent condition tough but very fun. Greens beautiful but very hard to read. Pay attention to terrain. Loved it.
