The Tribute Golf Club - Old Course
About
A Scottish-themed, links-style track that plays along the shores of Lake Lewisville, The Tribute one-ups the Tour 18 approach of modeling the world’s finest golf holes. Patterned his design after the revered holes of St. Andrews, Troon, Prestwick, etc., Tripp Davis created an immaculate track that rolls over terrain strikingly similar to the dunes and grasses over the Atlantic.
From the tips the course plays to a par 72 7,002 yards, but its most strikingly entertaining feature is its playability from the forward tees. In total, four sets of tees are available to even things out for the high handicappers.
St. Andrews is well represented on the first and last holes at The Tribute, where they offer the world’s largest fairway as a great way to start and finish your round.
Other notes: Don’t forget to inquire about the club’s seven guest rooms and available stay-and -play packages. The facility has hopes of opening another 18 and an adjoining hotel sometime in the near future.
Getting there : From 75 Expressway, take Hwy. 121 west to 423 (main street of The Colony). Turn right (north) to Boyd Road. Turn left, then drive 2.5 miles to the clubhouse.

First Timer
This was my first time playing. Although it was a couple days after a heavy downpour, the course was in excellent shape. Looking forward to my next attempt.
Great place, SLOW PACE
4 hours of golf and only played 9 holes. That's roughly 26 minutes per hole. We had a tee time set but the starter was log jammed with walk ups. I just wish we could have started at forward hole so we could play the full course.
Great place to play fortunately previous rounds were great.
Great Course
Will play again. Each hole is dedicated to a hole in Scotland, and it is interesting to read the description before you tee off.
Great Change of Pace
This is a really fun course to play. It's very different than most other DFW courses in that it doesn't have many trees, there are lots of undulations in the fairways, and every hole is bordered by thick natural brush. The holes are all modeled after Scottish golf courses. Fairways are in good condition. Greens are great, they're slow but check hard (20 yard chip shots will leave a divot). My one and only complaint is the lack of course information available. The score cards have zero detail about the holes so you have no idea if there is a hidden creek 250 yards off the tee that gobble up seemingly great tee shots. You're basically playing blind which is frustrating. I will definitely be going back though.
Awesome course
I had a lot of fun one of my new favorite courses to play. The course was in really good shape
Just like Scotland
Played the course for the second time, unfortunately I booked my time behind a golf outing, thus making the round a little longer than normal. This truly a fantastic course, the wind was gusting giving you the feel of actually playing golf in Scotland. You had holes with cross wind, as well as wind with and against you. One and 18 are replica holes from St Andrews, The Old Course. a beautiful setting for the start of the round. The Tribute is a must play course if you'd like to experience Scotland golf.
Just like the Links in England
First time to play - WOW - great course - all I thought it was going to be . I am a 15 hc - had a great time - must play course.
Staff great - Bob -the starter - very helpful - great information. Will play again as soon as possible.
Conquer replica Holes of Scottish Golf tracts with right strategies
Soak in the ambiance of each hole and picture yourself playing the "real hole" in Scotland. Elevates your experience.
The Golf course can be had, if playing conditions - especially wind, condition of greens, fairways - are favorable. Wind and fairway were non-issues, except on a few holes by the Lake. when I played.
Bunkers are easy to navigate. Pots were not too steep, unlike the real ones across the pond
Bring extra sleeves of balls, You can loose them if you are erratic. Back 9 can be penalizing.
Greens were in poor shape - bumpy and most greens resembled the face of a person with chicken pox marks. Individual green surfaces were a far cry from the practice greens in terms of the roll. Looks like ball marks are never repaired on the greens. Some marks were as deep as "pot bunkers" (tongue-in-cheek remark).
It was fun playing the course after almost 15 years. For keeps sake, have a friend, take a photo of you on the 18th fairway "replica bridge" and do a Jack Nicklaus (one foot on the bridge wall ) hand wave!!
Good course
Course design is great. Still a few signs from the flooding but nothing impactful at all. Greens were recovering well from aerating. Will definitely be back. Greens very accurate to the holes they are imitating.
Great course!
If you like link style courses you will love this one! Bring lots of balls!!!
DFW must play
Even with signs of the flood still present, The Tribute is a great track. 3 of the greens had dead areas and a few of the fairway bunkers were beat up. The staff is very friendly and the starter is very informative.
Tribute is the bomb
The course is awesome. The round through golf now was great. Course conditions were as good as I'd remembered.. Persons we paired with were fun, had a great time. Love the course, will keep coming back.
Good deal for the price
I was not prepared for the conditioni of the greens which were in poor condition for this course. Some of them were sanded and punched. Fairway bunkers were in poor condition. Pace of play was so slow that we stopped after12 holes. However: the price was probably adjusted for the course condition. Never saw any staff on the course to keep the pace moving. We would have been satisfied with the overall experience had the pace been better than 2 hrs 45 mins for the front nine. We waited on every tee box .
Weekend Scramble
We played in a Sunday scramble and the course was in good condition. We have had some heavy rain in the recent past and much of the area still shows signs from the flooding and dead grass. The fairways were in good condition and greens in about the same. I have seen the course in better shape. Overall it was a 4 on 5 scale. Course has a ways to go to get back to its $100 round level. I could have very easliy rated this a 3 but due to rain I gave it a break.
Must Play!!!!!
We got a great deal on golf now for $51 and I would pay that everyday to play this course. It truly felt like you were playing on a course in Scottland. The greens were really slow but 100% consistent, you didn't get 1 green slow and 1 green fast, all 18 were slow. To me I don't care if they are fast or slow just be consistent. You can attack the pins and the balls will stick. Better hit them straight or take several sleeves of balls, you get to far away from the fairway, its not even worth looking for. With all that said its a must play off you love to play golf and for $51 that's dirt cheap to play on a course in the DFW in this condition. We all said we will definitely be coming back.
Great course w great history
Best course in DFW area. Despite the course being flooded and being closed they have done a fantastic job.. I will recommend this course to any everyone.. Will be back..
A Tribute for The Tribute
Great course with a great layout. Some bunkers do not have sand, and have what looked like pebbles instead, therefore unplayable. Most fairway bunkers were unreachable, as the fairways are very wide and forgiving. Other than that, from tee to green, most was lush and green. Holes mimic the real holes quite well. Overall a great experience!
Great course!
Everything you expect and more! Even with the recent flooding the course is in remarkably good shape!
