The Tribute Golf Club - Old Course
About
A Scottish-themed, links-style track that plays along the shores of Lake Lewisville, The Tribute one-ups the Tour 18 approach of modeling the world’s finest golf holes. Patterned his design after the revered holes of St. Andrews, Troon, Prestwick, etc., Tripp Davis created an immaculate track that rolls over terrain strikingly similar to the dunes and grasses over the Atlantic.
From the tips the course plays to a par 72 7,002 yards, but its most strikingly entertaining feature is its playability from the forward tees. In total, four sets of tees are available to even things out for the high handicappers.
St. Andrews is well represented on the first and last holes at The Tribute, where they offer the world’s largest fairway as a great way to start and finish your round.
Other notes: Don’t forget to inquire about the club’s seven guest rooms and available stay-and -play packages. The facility has hopes of opening another 18 and an adjoining hotel sometime in the near future.
Getting there : From 75 Expressway, take Hwy. 121 west to 423 (main street of The Colony). Turn right (north) to Boyd Road. Turn left, then drive 2.5 miles to the clubhouse.

Links golf in Dallas Texas
The Tribute is 18 holes of golf from Scotland's most famous courses. Each hole is a replica of a famous hole on a Scottish golf course. The first view you have of the course is the 1st and 18th from The Old Course at Saint Andrews, and it just continues to be dynamic for the rest of the round. A fellow golfer from Scotland told me that the holes are exact replicas with one exception. He said, "The only difference is the course here has grass in the fairways!" The bunkers are big, deep and strategically placed on every hole. On the day we played the bunkers did not have sand because the Spring rains flooded the course and it had only been reopened a few days before we played and not all of the repairs had been completed. Considering the course was underwater for several days and they had been working to get the course open for weeks, the course was in really good condition. There were a few 'rough' spots, but none really interfered with play. It was really fun being able to play Scottish golf without the travel costs.
Finally they are open again !!!
The rain we had was quite a bit in a short amount of time. That being said, the course was in great shape considering all the weather. Obviously a few holes had issues but that is very understandable and also most bunkers are going to be redone since most washed out with flood waters.
It was fun as always and the cart assistance and girl who was at the 18th that cleans your clubs were very friendly and what you expect at a facility of this caliber. I just wish the people in the pro shop were nicer. I just like to made welcome at a golf course and this was the only sore spot for me since they made me feel like they were uninterested in my round before or after.
Still make it a point to add this to your list unless you already have done so. It is a spectacular course and once they are completely recovered from the floods, it will totally be a course on my rotation.
Worth It
Recent flooding did a number on all the bunkers but the course was in terrific shape considering. The staff was very friendly and the practice range is HUGE. Ill definitely be back. The course was a lot of fun
Great Course and great value
The course was open for the first time since the raid. It was crowded but the pace was pretty good. I really enjoyed it would definitely be back to play again!
The Tribute
Great course. Getting back in shape after the flood. Would play again anytime!
Darn
They gave us a courtesy call to tell us the rain was so bad the course would not be open for play
Excellent Golf Experience with my two boys
Thoroughly enjoyed our round. Just wished the pace of play was just a little faster. Very good experience though. Thank you.
Outstanding links course
First time to play this outstanding links course. Very challenging, Loved the course and found putting a real challenge.
Unique course in DFW
This course is a unique challenge due to its Scottish style "tribute". It was a fun change of pace and in pretty good condition. Played on a Tuesday morning and there was a 20 person scramble going on, but even so pace of play was decent. Saw the Marshal out several times checking on pace and ensuring we were having a good time.
Great Day
The Tribute is a great facility. Great range and short game practice facility.
Always love the history
Always love the tribute. Fun, great conditions. History of every hole. Little pricey, but I consider it a treat!
Tribute
Overall one of the better maintained public courses I've played in DFW. Greens were slow though
great experience
Was looking for a different type of course to entertain some friends that flew in from California. course was exactly what I wanted. Will return.
nice course
for this time of year course in good shape and friendly staff
wide open yet challenging
Very fun course to grip it and rip it. Watch out though, there are little streams of water that cross the fairway and you can't see them off the tee. Very wet conditions cause of the weather but will go play again this summer to see how pretty the course is at it's best.
$49 included lunch and 2 drinks!!!!!!!
What an awesome experience. Booked a time on golf now and when I showed up they gave me their special which was cheaper than what I originally booked for, and included lunch and 2 drinks. When I say drinks, it wasn't just water or a fountain soda, but I could get beer as well.
As for the golf course, the greens were excellent. They really know what their doing out there. It's one of few golf courses in DFW that hold up year round.
Golfers Beware!
Golfers beware! They run great marketing campaigns to get you out there but they operationally cannot handle the amount of golfers. Tee'd off at 1:12pm and 4hrs 30mins later we were finally thru Hole 15! Had to leave because daylight ran out. Went to tell someone at the pro shop and it was closed by 6pm with at least 30 golfers still on the course! All I can say is Wow! won't be back...ever! I'm a 1 handicap
BAD EXPERIENCE
We had a 1:12pm tee time and did not finish our round. It all started when we had to wait 20 minutes to get a cart and then we were on a 6 hour pace and did not finish. We played 16 holes in 5 hrs and 30 min. We never saw one marshal all day to aid in the pace of play. And to top it off, when we pulled up to the club house, the pro shop was closed and we were unable to give our feedback. Pin placement was also very difficult for a day that was so booked and did not help the pace of play. The course was in nice shape, but the slow pace of play ruined the fun and we obviously did not get what we paid for, which was 18 holes of golf!
Watch out for the 19th Hole
Course is in good shape but greens have poeanna in places. Pace of play was good this time. Aside from being a higher prices course, this place takes it to extreme in the bar and for food and beverages. $17 for a double cocktail at a golf course???? $5.50 for a draft???. Play the course but skip the tavern afterward unless you don't mind getting ripped off. Not looking for free but not looking to be gauged either. Bartenders can be surly others have told me too but main thing is prepare to give the bar all you winnings even if you buy a single round. Leaves a bad taste...
