The Tribute Golf Club - Old Course
About
A Scottish-themed, links-style track that plays along the shores of Lake Lewisville, The Tribute one-ups the Tour 18 approach of modeling the world’s finest golf holes. Patterned his design after the revered holes of St. Andrews, Troon, Prestwick, etc., Tripp Davis created an immaculate track that rolls over terrain strikingly similar to the dunes and grasses over the Atlantic.
From the tips the course plays to a par 72 7,002 yards, but its most strikingly entertaining feature is its playability from the forward tees. In total, four sets of tees are available to even things out for the high handicappers.
St. Andrews is well represented on the first and last holes at The Tribute, where they offer the world’s largest fairway as a great way to start and finish your round.
Other notes: Don’t forget to inquire about the club’s seven guest rooms and available stay-and -play packages. The facility has hopes of opening another 18 and an adjoining hotel sometime in the near future.
Getting there : From 75 Expressway, take Hwy. 121 west to 423 (main street of The Colony). Turn right (north) to Boyd Road. Turn left, then drive 2.5 miles to the clubhouse.

great deal
Easy start and played fast. Course was in great shape and the weather complemented the golf. Did not see a cart girl the whole time but the water held us just fine.
Love this course design and layout, very enjoyable.
Fantastic course, a few greens just aerated and sanded, a few tee boxes dry.
Course is very nice and a great layout. Very freindly and helpful staff from pro shop to bar to starter.
Great course in a great setting. Only shortfall/disappointment were the greens that were surprisingly slow.
One that note.....and this is not the clubs fault...was that the greens seemed marked up from golfers who dragged their feet on the greens and did not have the courtesy to repair their ball marks. Made putting a bit frustrating.
Overall a great experience. Challenging and rewarding
Great Links Course, nice change of pace
It is a must play course in the DFW area. If you have enjoyed Tour 18, you will really love the Tribute playing the best links holes from courses in Europe.
Great condition for heat of summertime.
Fairways were a little crunchy, greens were slow and soft due to heat and watering. For the middle of August though, overall it was in very good condition. We didn't wait on a shot, or have anyone behind us waiting. One of my favorite courses, and an exceptional value through this site. Also, the food is excellent and the 19th hole is a great place to have a pint afterwards.
Too expensive, but a unique course nonetheless
I wouldn't play here at full price ever, the course just isn't as special as it is advertised. That being said, for under $50 it's a pretty good deal. You can't really get many links courses in Dallas otherwise. Overall it is pretty easy because it is so open, but the greens are huge and tricky. Find a good deal and head out, otherwise sit on it until you can find a good deal.
Great course, and smooth greens
This course was amazing. All the staff was extremely friendly and the course was in great condition. It was my first time and will definitely be back to play.
Not sure if I'd play again for full price
Got a great deal to play this high-end course on a Saturday afternoon. Overall course layout is great and the stiff winds made it extremely challenging. Unfortunately, the greens were way too soft and looked pretty beat up for an expensive course.
Incredible. A++++
Extremely pure bent grass greens. Held very well. Fairways and bunkers in incredible condition. Primed to score well if you can approach strategically. One of the most enjoyable rounds of old I have ever played! Thanks for a great time!
Good Experience
The course was in great shape but the greens were very soft.
Course was in great shape
Played the course after work as a twosome. We had a twosome behind us and we were not rushed or having to wait on anyone until the 17th hole. Greens were in great shape. The bunkers have just the right amount of sand in them. Hardly ever have a flat lie. The shorter flagsticks took getting used to. Well worth the money.
Great Day and Great Condition, BUT could use some attention
Course was in GREAT shape! Fairways and Greens were pristine and were as good as advertised. Even the 1st and 2nd cuts were plush and well maintained. What keeps me from givin this course 5 Stars are as follows:
1) Need to have the distances re-done on ALL sprinkler heads. I'm not kidding there were times I couldn't read them even on all fours. The addition of GPS or just a new paint job for yardages would be great.
2) This course makes its name by advertising that they have TE best holes from over seas. The stones at each tee are nice, but the small print and misplacement of these stones. Take away from what this course is all about. The opportunity to put your self on these great courses
3) Lastly, although a VERY minor complaint. There were no balls on the range and we had to go back to the clubhouse in order to warm up
All in all a fun and well maintained course. I don't believe it is worth the $79 price, but if you can get a twilight rate it's well worth your time. Again the condition of the course would rival the BEST courses not only in the area, but the state
Great Links Course
Course is very well maintained and is good for all levels of play. Round was completed in 4 hours with a smooth, steady flow around the course. Tees, fairways and greens were in very good condition for the end of July. Clubhouse and restaurant were wonderful and staff was very professional and friendly. Fantastic afternoon!! Would recommend and will definately play again!!
Great value
Booked a discount twilight rate through golfnow.com and the course was excellent value for the money. The course was in great shape and the holes are enjoyable recreations of some of Scotland's most famous spots.
Interesting, challenging and fun course
The course is a great experience with links type golf. The course is well maintained. Greens are good. Fun, interesting and challenging but bring a lot of golf balls if you dont consistently host it straight.
Extremely nice course! One of the best courses dollar for dollar!
I loved this course...it was pouring rain and miserable weather and we still enjoyed ourselves, the course stayed in immaculate condition, and the golf course was very tough but fair when you hit good shots
3 Hours for 9
Teed off at 3pm on a Sunday. Pulled up to a stacked no. 1 tee box and should have just button hooked it back to the pro shop for a refund. Teed off anyway but optimism quickly turned to regret. Waited on every shot. 3 hours and 9 holes later we had no desire to see the back 9. Course was in good shape, but not worth the drive from Dallas when it's run like a muni.
Open Champinship In DFW
The Tribute is a "replica" course of holes in the Open Championship rotation. The 1st and 18th holes look very much like St. Andrews and there are a couple holes that are inspired by Murfiled where the tours are playing this week.
Played The Tribute mainly because it is Open Championship Week. During Texas Summers the hot weather parches the courses and they stuggle to keep them green and watered. This Summer has been an exception and the course was in excellent shape. Bunkers were in very good shape after the rains and turf conditions were really nice. I guess the only complaint I might have is that the greens were very slow. However, with several days of steady rain they probably could not get on them to mow them.
I would recommend The Tribute to anyone looking to play a links style course in the DFW area. Go to www.golfnow.com and you will probably find a good price on tee times.
Great price after three and terrific course.
If you can make the drive out The Tribute is well worth it. We wanted to go out the week of the British Open and it was well worth it thanks to Golf Now. If not for the deal, we would not have gone.
Treat to make the trip out
Since I live in Fort Worth now I never get to make it out here. Made the trip out and it was phenomenal. Course was in great shape, greens rolled out well, and the staff was very nice. Can't wait to make it out again!
