The Tribute Golf Club - Old Course
About
A Scottish-themed, links-style track that plays along the shores of Lake Lewisville, The Tribute one-ups the Tour 18 approach of modeling the world’s finest golf holes. Patterned his design after the revered holes of St. Andrews, Troon, Prestwick, etc., Tripp Davis created an immaculate track that rolls over terrain strikingly similar to the dunes and grasses over the Atlantic.
From the tips the course plays to a par 72 7,002 yards, but its most strikingly entertaining feature is its playability from the forward tees. In total, four sets of tees are available to even things out for the high handicappers.
St. Andrews is well represented on the first and last holes at The Tribute, where they offer the world’s largest fairway as a great way to start and finish your round.
Other notes: Don’t forget to inquire about the club’s seven guest rooms and available stay-and -play packages. The facility has hopes of opening another 18 and an adjoining hotel sometime in the near future.
Getting there : From 75 Expressway, take Hwy. 121 west to 423 (main street of The Colony). Turn right (north) to Boyd Road. Turn left, then drive 2.5 miles to the clubhouse.

Fun playing!
I have not been back to the Tribute in about 5 years. It plays much different than it did then. It is much more playable since then. The tee box and fairways were in great shape. The greens were recently aerated but they rolled pretty well and very receptive. Would play again!
A great snapshot of Scottish links golf!
The course was a thrill to play and was in excellent condition! Playing holes like the famous postage stamp and road hole were great fun and exciting to play. The Tom Morris Pub where it's always 5:00 was a great way to end the day. Everyone should play this course for a truly memorable experience!
Above Average Links-Style Golf
I really like The Tribute and at $50 it was a great deal. I wouldn't pay full rate to play there. The course is very well maintained, I just prefer a course that has a little elevation change and winds through the forest (purely personal preference).
On the Top 3 in Dallas area.
A classic golf ciurse and MUST visit. Stay on fairways. I had 10 OB's. One of the best golf courses in Dallas.
tripp thru history
of all the unique golf courses dallas has , this is one of the best. not only an amazing location away from residential development, but great recreations that come closer to the originals than tour 18. worth the money. take great care in playing the layout, live by one rule...hit it where you can see it.
Play some of the greatest holes in golf!
If you enjoy Tour 18, you will enjoy The Tribute. Getting a chance to play holes that, chances are, you will never see in person is very exciting.
Course could be very difficult to play if ou try and play on a very windy day.
Great condition.
It's very beautiful course. Feel like we were playing in Scotland.
Great golf experience
I have played this course numerous times and it is one of the best in the area. It can be a little pricey at times but if you search, you can find it at a decent rate. Its in great condition and its a tough but fair course. The wind is almost always howling though, so know that going in, but that makes it more British Open like.
The Course is a great layout! Top driving range too!
The course was in top form. The greens rolled very nicel.
My only complaint for the management is, please have your grounds workers get off the green when a player is trying to hit on par 3's or approachs on par 4's and 5's. It seemed like everytime I was hitting to a par 3, the workers would walk on the greens in front of me and I had to wait and it thru me off thinking of hitting them with the ball. This is my only complaint, easy fix, but other than that it was a great day and my score of 84 was nice too.
Best Course around
Can't say enough about this course. From the people to scenery and most of all the golf is all great. This was the 4th time playing it and we had a 30mph wind but it still was outstanding. Will be going back again and highly recommend!
Great conditions, outstanding value
Courses designed after some combination of great holes form other courses can be -- and often are -- hokey. This one carries it off well. We've played some of the courses in Scotland that were the inspiration for this course, and there are real similarities, which is fun, but if you knew none of that, you'd thoroughly enjoy this course. The conditions are excellent for a public course: good fairways, little rough, and fast greens. Play it!
Great Course. Full Price is a little high.
I got a great deal for The Tribute through Golf Now, $49. I think regular weekend rate is over $100. The course is is great shape. The greens were pretty much perfect. The Pro Shop staffer could have been a little more cordial, but the starter and marshall were both very friendly. I would say that the full price seems just a touch high for me. I would pay around $80 full price, but over $100 is a little much. Still, it was a great course and a fun day of links style golf. Something we native Texans don't get too often around DFW. If you can find a deal, definitely make the trip.
Well maintained with a great challenge
Personnel were very friendly. The PA were routinely asking how our round was progressing. Sprinkler head distance markers need to be replaced for better legibility. A great time for my son and I. Thanks. We will be back.
This course was a lot of fun. worth the money and trip..
I am really glad I got the opportunity to play here. The staff and starter very friendly. I enjoyed reading about each hole as we played on the tee markers. Very challenging course with some long holes. Some of the largest greens I have ever played on. It was fun to go to some areas of the greens and putt across them. With 5' pins and large greens my range finder was a great asset. The clubhouse had outside speakers and had bagpipes playing that could be heard across the course. We played in high wind and brief spells of rain.." British open conditions" . I shot in the 70's with an "eagle" , plus making par on road hole. Very enjoyable.
Open fairways, challenging winds, beautiful lake view!
I would go there again. Well maintained. A little high on the price side.
Superb Greens
The greens are awesome, but a little hard. true roll every time and the same from green to green and from one end of the green to the other. Love to play there.
The staff was friendly and the course was in great shape.
The greens are tricky and the bunkers and the layout are
challenging.Would definetly go back to play.
Great course! Very well priced!
Amazing staff! Felt like I was in Scotland! Course layout was perfect!
Average Value
If I had to do it over again, I would have waited to play the course in May or June. The March course conditions were not good therefore the $130 greens fee was excessive.
Greens were in poor condition, no ball marks repaired, and traps lack sufficient sand.
25 mph winds, and poor green surface conditions made what should have been a nice $80 round of golf, not much fun. Very unfair and poor pin positions were a problem. Side hills positions are unacceptable. Wont be back any time soon.
