Shorecliffs Golf Club
About
Shorecliffs Golf Course wanders through the coastal canyons and valleys of San Clemente, heading towards the beautiful shoreline. Situated just steps from the ocean, the course enjoys cool ocean breezes and a temperate climate, which makes it a year-round haven for golfers. Its location also provides the golf course with plenty of scenic ocean views. The course features narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and small greens bordered by sand bunkers. The front nine is shorter and requires more accuracy than the longer, wider back nine. Shorecliffs opens with one of the trickiest par-5s in the area. This dogleg left hole features trouble both left and right. Although the layout does offer a fair challenge, players of all skill levels will feel comfortable taking on the golf course.

Golfer Reviews
Meh
Tee Time, 2:10 did not get off till 2:20 starter was clueless, squeezed in a 2:05 and the hacks in front of us where not good, there was no Marshall to speed play up, super narrow course a lot of red and white out of bounds, greens were first fringes were under repair . Basic Orange County river course, get some land and maximize it dollars great views and beautiful homes. If u r in SoCal and want to experience great weather close to beach but a basic public course $82 on weekend with cart not bad, if have plans after food or beach then good spot, but keep expectations limited, the muni course down the street way better valley
The San Clemente Municipal, harder get tee times. But better bang for your buck. Stuff was really friendly , bathrooms were a mess, good putting area, and chipping area, people super nice, and nice looking bar and restaurant had athe bbq going, good eye candy around, but as far as course average .
Cool weather course
Right off the ocean (blocks away) we played here during a heat wave in our area. Great staff but the course had issues with tee boxes and greens. ( Maintenance crews have there work cut out)
Shorecliffs
I've been playing Shorecliffs for years. Management has spent lots of money to improve the course and it shows. However, they need to improve all of the tee boxes. Make them level.
The main complaint is the timing of groups, every five minutes, that's a joke. Come on, should be every 8 minutes. We had minutes to wait on every hole.
Ok course for a quiet round
Very slow golf course too many par 3’s , otherwise ok for practice
Could be amazing… falls way short!
I want to start by saying the property is beautiful and has so much potential to be a very solid course. Unfortunately, the grounds are in terrible condition. Like terrible terrible. Potholes everywhere, random dirt patches? Tee boxes were miserable. Staff seemed to barely care about operations at all. The potential is totally there for this course to be a hidden gem of SC, but it looks like nobody cares enough to take this course to the level it should be at.
Really good….but.
I played here yesterday and overall, it is a really good course. The staff was super friendly, and the layout is great and looks really nice. However, the tee boxes were pretty beat up. The strangest thing was that they were actively cutting the greens and doing repair work all over the course while we were playing. There was a guy cutting the greens who basically followed us around the entire round, so we were hitting onto the greens as he was working. Additionally, the pace of play was really bad. There were just too many people playing, and the tee times are way too close together.
Shore will
We were pleased with the course. It's not long, but tight tee shots made it quite challenging. Course conditions were like a basic municipal course condition. Greens were very good though. Staff was amazing. No driving range. Come warmed up. We will recommend this course if you're looking for a round near the coast.
Hidden Gem
This course had some beautiful views, and was in fairly good condition with an amazing staff. I’ve heard from locals it used to not be the best, but with the renovation it was a wonderful course the price and location
Shorecliffs is generally a good value for the money. The greens are typically in good shape. Fairways are ok but there are some rough patches.
Pace of play yesterday was awful. We waited on every single shot and took 5 hours for round. Need a marshall out there to push the slower players who don't understand golf etiquette.
Great experience very nice layout beautiful and challenging
Another fun game
We love this course and had played many times. After innovation, it is in much better shape. Our Only complaint was that workers was watering green when we were playing. 🥺🥹😅
Long Time, No See
This was my first round at Shorecliffs in over 10 years. It is clear that much has been invested into the infrastructure, especially the beautiful new clubhouse and restaurant. There have been improvements on the golf course but there is still much work to be done. The course is narrow and quirky and features three par 5's on the front nine. The first nine holes play east of the freeway and underground tunnels allow safe passage between nines. However, this tunnel also carries water run off making it easier to travel by golf cart than on foot. Both myself and another player struggled to navigate without soaking our feet for the back nine. The tees and greens are mostly in good condition. Too much of the fairways are ground under repair areas. We teed off before 6:30 AM and it still took 4 hours to play, which was disappointing to not quickly zip around and take advantage of the early time. This could have been caused by slow play within our group or long distance traveling between certain holes in the routing. Also, the course was *VERY* wet... considering it hasn't rained in months. Certain tee boxes could have been considered casual water areas and given a free drop. I think the course has potential and could merit a return visit. With some imagination in the routing and improved course conditions, this could be a worthy Orange County hidden gem.
Great course staff and greens
I played there for the second time today, and the staff in the pro shop was so courteous, the general manager help me mitigate a problem with my clubs, and the personnel in general are just professional, but cheerful. I’m grateful to them for a great Golf experience. I will certainly come back.!
Thank you,
Thomas Wright.
