About
Talega Golf Club is one of southern California's treasures, offering a challenging Fred Couples layout that sits above the "Spanish Village by the Sea." The course winds through canyons and valleys offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside throughout. The diverse layout will test your shot-making skills and there are also several interesting risk-reward opportunities including two reachable par 4s that will please long hitters. There is an abundance of bunkers coming into play, especially along the fairways, and golfers will be faced with the occasional blind shot. The greens are extremely quick and not a single one is flat. Nearly every green has multiple tiers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of Talega's most memorable holes is the monstrous 13th. This par 5 requires a carry over not just one but two ravines.

Course is in great shape as of 14 OCT 2023
Conditions are pure. They invested extra money into this course and you can tell the difference. As of today 14 OCT 2023 course is in great shape. Worth the money.
Better than previous reviews
Course was overall in great shape despite the previous reviews I had read. Greens had a decent pace to them and had consistent speed from one hole to the next. Fairways were a little over watered on spots but plaued nicely. Pace was pretty good for twilight time at under 4.5 hours. Cart crew was nice and checked us in without needing to go into proshop. No Marshall but didn't really feel held up or pushed most of the day. Will definitely return and got out for under $60/person with a hot deal.
Fairways were thin in a few places but overall very good.
Not what t used to be
The course is in below-average conditions everywhere. Not sure how they attract golfers to this place with the extremely poor conditions.
Challenging but not difficult.
Course is in good condition with the exception of a few tee boxes. Only negative is their range which you have to take your personal vehicle to because it’s not adjacent to or at the course.
Great track
Greens are in good shape. A bit slow but looking good. Some tee boxes and areas of rough are under repair. Great pace of play for an early tee time.
Great course with some issues…..
We have played this wonderful course many times. The weather was perfect, pace was great on first 9 holes, On 10th hole, a three some cut us off, and no Marshal around. No ball washer, no drink water available on course! No drink cart around the course either. We passed several Tee boxes since we could not see Tee rocks——grass are too high which covered the Tee rocks on some Tee boxes！
Low service
Very low services for the price. No water. No drink cart. No marshal. Tee boxes poorly maintained.
New to this course
We played this course thinking it was going to the to the caliber of strawberry farms - we were sadly disappointed. No golf range on site and pretty unfriendly staff. The didn’t even have a putting green. Wish I could ask for my money back. Very disappointed
Not worth $150
This course is ok but absolutely not worth $150. It’s crazy they charge this for golf carts that are probably 15 years old, no gps and just run down. No cart person anytime thru the round no Marshall for slow players etc, additionally almost all tee boxes were tore up or under repair of some sort. The limited staff we saw was awesome but overall they are fleecing you with the rates, San Clemente muni is cheaper and probably in better shape
Expensive meh
High end greens fees for a mediocre experience. Course is in fine shape. Starter was polite and took initiative to get us off on time. The course is just kind of barren… pro shop help was uninterested to the extreme, there is no water/cart concessions at all on the course. Pack your beverages or you’re in a survival situation when it’s hot. Really not worth the greens fees they’re asking.
