About
Talega Golf Club is one of southern California's treasures, offering a challenging Fred Couples layout that sits above the "Spanish Village by the Sea." The course winds through canyons and valleys offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside throughout. The diverse layout will test your shot-making skills and there are also several interesting risk-reward opportunities including two reachable par 4s that will please long hitters. There is an abundance of bunkers coming into play, especially along the fairways, and golfers will be faced with the occasional blind shot. The greens are extremely quick and not a single one is flat. Nearly every green has multiple tiers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of Talega's most memorable holes is the monstrous 13th. This par 5 requires a carry over not just one but two ravines.

Great Layout -- Great test of golf
Course conditions were very good, i was impressed with the faiways and the firmness of the greens.
the group behind us was a 3 some and were very rude as the course is not easy. they were yelling at us from tee box unnecessarily. a 4 some will golf slower than a 3 some. we were following another moderate slow 4 some and were trapped. Some people just don't get it. Not the courses problem. Just some of the people who play there have no idea what golf is
Went to wrong course, easily canceled
I went to the wrong course, was 45 minutes away when realized the issue. I called, explained the issue and they understood my plight and cancelled my reservation
Bad
The cart guys were some of the rudeness people I have ever came across , one guy in particular. We booked to play at 13:40 , they have so many groups going off at whatever time they want on the first team. Every hole we almost waited probably 15 minutes to tee off , when we reached the back 9 , there was one hole where we came to tee off and they was 3 separate groups on the same tee waiting. unbelievable , for the price you pay for a premium course it isn’t acceptable , wouldn’t play back here.
Improved
Course is trying to grow rough which is good. So golfers don’t drive carts where they have it marked not to drive! Only complaint was practice green was much slower than on course greens so warm up actually hurt me . Pace of play was backed up At beginning of round but got better . Carts clean , seeing improvements at this course
Not in great condition
Course conditions did not live up to the price of the round. Most greens were in good condition. However, most fairways were not. Value for this round should have been somewhere around $60 - $70. This was a birthday round for me to share with my brother and sons, so we made the best of the day. With the many other choices in OC, I will most likely not return. Hope course improvements are made soon.
Save your $100
It seemed like the place was closing. No beverage cart, bathrooms locked on the course. It hadn’t rained for a few days and the tee boxes were not mowed, bunkers had not been raked in a while and were rock hard and greens were mediocre. I used to play here and it was always in great shape, but it has gone down hill unfortunately.
