Foxtail Golf Club - North Course
About
Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park offers two championship courses, the North and the South, situated in the heart of wine country. The North Course originally opened in 1974 but underwent a major renovation that completely redesigned the layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The par-72 North is considerably longer and more difficult than the par-71 South. The North features multiple doglegs and strategically placed sand traps that will test even the most experienced players. To make the golf course a bit more approachable, water hazards don't play a prominent role, though they do appear on a few holes, and the forward tees are very player friendly. With 36 holes available, Foxtail G.C. is able to host tournaments and events while still having another 18 holes open to the public.

Nice course
Foxtail north is always a lot of fun and challenging to play. I would highly recommend it to play. Staff very friendly.
good golf
front nine is somewhat challenging, but, back nine is championship golf.
new sand on front side is so fine and though, and hard to play, because no golf course in northern California has a such fluffy beautiful sand.
greens are true and fast among the best

Time to MOW!
This comment is for the South course. Can't speak for the North, but my playing partners said they take MUCH better care of it:
Rainy season has been over for a month now, but the watering of this course is so scattershot it's still got puddles of standing water, areas outside the fairways that don't seem like they've seen a mower in weeks if not months.
I like the course ok, it's a fairly tight driving course, made more so by the untended areas where balls can easily be lost - just a few yards off the fairway!
Ease up on the watering & mow this course!
Nice course
Foxtail is a nice course. It can be very slow and the golfers at times not very courteous. Marshal is worthless .
Nice course
We had fun course is in good shape except for some of the sand traps, rough was like playing in the US open, but overall the course is in very good condition, good job Foxtail!
Overpriced
If golfing in Rohnert Park, golf the south course. Way cheaper and just as good.
Ava’s papa
The greens were great, the pace of play was great, the fairways were good, be careful the rough was very tall, the only downside was there was a golfer with a dog, it was a yapper, had to play through cuz all the dog did was yap!! But I loved the course!!
Good value!
First time here and the Pro shop properly advised us about the condition of bunkers and keeping the ball in the fairway. The rough is long and shaggy. Easy to lose a ball, if you don’t track it all the way. Fairways in great shape, bunkers were not playable. The greens were superb. True roll and a bit fast. Very few players , no one was behind us. Friendly personnel. Nice practice putting and chipping area plus driving range. Nice 19th hole.
Great shape after heavy rains
We played after 2 days of heavy rains and the course handled it very well. Carts were allowed on the fairway. Greens were in perfect condition.
Fun
It was fun to play on. Sometimes i wish they maybe few more bathrooms tho. If you going to drink and play need to use the bathroom every few min. Other wise i allways enjoyed it.
The overall conditions were ok considering the excessive winter rains
The staff was very friendly. We were a 2 some and there were 4 foursomes in front of us. The starter let us go off the back nine and we played the back nine in 90 minutes . We then joined another twosome and played the front nine in just over 2 hours. The greens were running fast and true. Some of the sand traps were fine others were under maintained. Given the wet winter we just had in Sonoma County, the course in general was in pretty good shape. Some areas were unmowed due to the still wet conditions
North Course Foxtail
In very good condition- tough undulated greens, challenging course
Foxtail South
The fairways and greens were in good shape. Form and dry with very few exceptions. The rough had just been mowed after a long, wet winter. Lots of grass ‘hay rows’. I wouldn’t recommend using your best balls. Even if a good shot they will get lost in the hay on the fringe. All around good condition
The Role of Golf Now
I purchased two tee times. One for tuesday 4/8 and 4/9. I arrived at course on 4/8 to be told by club house guy that course was really “mushy” and that it would not be for another week before it was playable. The course with the exceptions of the greens was a mess. Rough hadn’t been mowed this spring, fairways were covered with white flowers (better use a yellow ball) and my first three tee shots pluggers in the fairway. Lost 12 balls on front nine. Played back nine from 150 and in with not tee shots or fairway metals. The course pro told me exactly they condition of the course but obviously GOLFNOW. Either didn’t know but certainly didn’t care. Getting ahold of GOLFNOW to speak to a person is impossible as i was told the wait time was an hour and 10 minutes. Ill eat the fee this time but will boycott GOLFNOW from now on. This course was unplayable!!
