Foxtail Golf Club - North Course
About
Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park offers two championship courses, the North and the South, situated in the heart of wine country. The North Course originally opened in 1974 but underwent a major renovation that completely redesigned the layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The par-72 North is considerably longer and more difficult than the par-71 South. The North features multiple doglegs and strategically placed sand traps that will test even the most experienced players. To make the golf course a bit more approachable, water hazards don't play a prominent role, though they do appear on a few holes, and the forward tees are very player friendly. With 36 holes available, Foxtail G.C. is able to host tournaments and events while still having another 18 holes open to the public.

Enjoyable Course
Though the course overall is in good, the sand traps are horrible. They are no sand, but clay
Nice residential track
I play Foxtail more than any other course since I live minutes away. I usually play the South course because its less expensive, but I decided to spend a little more and play the North.
I arrived a little early, hoping to get out before my scheduled tee time because I had dinner plans. There was an older gentleman with a mustache who flat said, "no way, you're locked into that time." I understood that he wanted to keep the schedule but he was unfriendly and gave poor customer service. A younger guy with glasses saw that I was there as a single and I play there often, so he made it work for me. He was very friendly and helpful.
Foxtail North is across Golf Course Drive, nestled in a nice 1970s-80's neighborhood. Tee box to green is well maintained and the greens were true. The course is flat, but there are undulations in the fairways, doglegs, and some bunkers to keep you thinking. There are houses present on nearly all holes, but there are some redwoods and marshland woven in so the houses don't overwhelm the experience. I was paired up with a friendly husband and wife who were members at Foxtail.
The pace of play was excellent! Our threesome of competent golfers finished the round in 3 hours 20 minutes (we rode carts). It was a great day of golf and I made it to dinner on time.
P.S. The food is nothing to write home about but they have a great micro brew selection if you're into that. They sel Dale's Pale Ale in tall cans to take out on the course.
Fairway and Greens
Course was in excellent condition. Fairways and Greens were plush and ran true.
Back nine better than front nine
The back nine was in much better condition than the front nine. We would play it again.
6/25/15
Course is in good condition and great pace of play on this day.
Very helpful staff
I got to the course an hour early and asked if there was an opening for a single. The said they did but they did not have a cart. Within a few minutes they found me a threesome who I teamed up with. Course is in pretty good condition and pace of play was ok. It took me about 4.5 hours to do 18 holes. Overall I am very satisfied especially walking on as a single
foxtail soth
played the front 9 in 1hr 45 min. then foxtail sent out the league and it took 2hr 50 min to play the back 9. we asked if we could just play the front 9 again and were told no. how about a little help with pace of play.
Awesome
Great course lots of fun the 10th tee was my favorite how to play it again.
Foxtail North Course
I had a 11:30am tee time but they got me out early and were very accommodating. Course played great and I had a blast.
Disappoints again
Foxtail north is supposed to be the better of two courses but it continues to disappoint me. Really, really slow play on a Sunday afternoon. It's just an uninspired course with mediocre service.
Best in Years
If you've played it before , it could be a little beat up. It was in great shape after the NCCAA tournament. Lots of sand in the bunkers and fast greens. Really enjoyed the round.
North course great challenge
The North Course is not easy to play most challenge
Different way good layout and fairway is look so good
Full neat green. And putter green pretty fast roll very nice. Someday will play again.
Foxtail Goif was worth the trip
The course was wide open early and we cruised right through it. It was just tough enough and long enough to use all the clubs in the bag. A great bargain and a real treat.
nice course
Nice course, nice people and two putted 14 times, a beautiful day!
Should have been noted - under repair
Greens recently punched and it looked like grounds crew just dumped sand on greens without spreading it around. There were piles of it on some greens that you had to either putt through or pick up. I understand that they need to do maintenance but they should warn golfers. Hopefully a temporary condition but someone needs to talk with staff.
Nice place
Always a good value for your buck. Friendly staff and a fun course to play.
Great pace of play and friendly golfers
My friends and I had a great time on a well maintained course and even though we are not that good, not one bad experience with the other golfers or the marshals.
Good challange
Played before a women's tourney and course was in great shape. Thick rough, bunkers and water plus wind made for a tough but rewarding experience.
A great Sonoma County value
Friendly staff accommodated our two groups and made us fell right at home. Driving range has plenty of markers, including a bell. Starter was friendly and helpful. Marshal was very tactful. Course is in great shape with some very challenging greens. I am looking forward to my next round there.
Good solid value
Foxtail north is a good challenge, nice variety and an excellent value. Condition is usually very good
