Foxtail Golf Club - North Course
About
Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park offers two championship courses, the North and the South, situated in the heart of wine country. The North Course originally opened in 1974 but underwent a major renovation that completely redesigned the layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The par-72 North is considerably longer and more difficult than the par-71 South. The North features multiple doglegs and strategically placed sand traps that will test even the most experienced players. To make the golf course a bit more approachable, water hazards don't play a prominent role, though they do appear on a few holes, and the forward tees are very player friendly. With 36 holes available, Foxtail G.C. is able to host tournaments and events while still having another 18 holes open to the public.

very slow
They had 4 man best ball tournament thay day and it was so slow we didn't enjoy at all so we left.
Inexpensive and you get what you pay for.
Fairways are missing a lot of grass. Bunkers are crusty. Greens are bumpy.
Great for the price
Beautiful Course , I heard the bunkers were bad but they played great
Super Slow Fivesome ahead of us
My T-time was at 9:54am on Sunday 7/27. There was a fivesome ahead of us with 3 carts. They were older guys and I understand that part but they were brutally slow. It took over 5 hours for us to finish. They did not split up after teeing off and were taking their sweet time. I think they should have been told to speed up and that they should not allow fivesomes to go out...
Great value for the money
Course is city-owned muni so gets lots of play. Needs more maintenance but is well-irrigated. Extremely good value for the money. Friendly staff, often has wedding/banquet facility activity on the weekend so you need to be prepared to mingle with those types of crowds after your round.
No sand
This course is fun to play except
The sand traps have no sand. The traps are basically mud bunkers nearly impossible to hit out of if there is a lip in front of you.
Foxtail N
The staff was friendly. The food and beverage cart was running a good schedule which is good it was a hot day. The only negatives are the sands used in the greenside bunkers is like cement. The construction being done around hole's 9, 10 was annoying.
1st time here
I played in a foursome yesterday @ Foxtail North. We were originally scheduled to play the South Course but members of my group highly recommended the North Course instead so we switched last minute which was a breeze. Nice driving range for warming up and beautiful weather for a 1245pm start. It took us 4 hours to play 18 which was great considering we were behind a slower twosome. The course is very well maintained and has a nice mix of holes and pin placements. Generous fairways in most cases but the bunkers were very stiff and felt more like dirt and less like sand. Other than that a fun course to play though $40 is a bit pricey for during the week.
Fun times At Foxtail
Good times had by all/ would recommend to a friend and will definitely be back soon.
squeezing players in tournament's should be banned.
I am relatively new at golf... so you can imagine the intensity of the pressure playing on a course with two tournaments going on... my anxiety went up, to the point I couldn't even hit the ball? So I left after the third hole.... worse day of golf I've had in my short career as a player. .... so I went to a local nine hole, and par'd all but two holes. ... scored under 35, best game ever!
Good Value / Decent Conditions
Foxtail South is the lesser of the two courses at this facility. But it was in decent condition and was a good value for the price. This is a very walkable course and our foursome played in 4 hours on a Sunday morning. Greens were recently punched, still a little rough (but not bad). Some tee boxes still need work, bunkers have been improved (not great). If you're looking for a quick/cheap round, this is the place. Don't expect pristine/country club conditions and you'll enjoy the experience.
Very nice. The term "user friendly" comes to mind.
Very nice course. We played on a Friday afternoon with two other good players and the time flew. Fairly challenging from the blues. The greens were fairly friendly as well.
Good course
Great value for your money. Great well kept course
Good course for the money
The course is in much better shape then in the past. I play here quite frequently as it close to home and low cost.
Straight shots
The South course is laid out so that if you hit the ball straight, you will score low. It was windy the day I played, so it made the course more challenging than when I played it previously. There was water in spots on the course where it should not have been. I can only assume they had a sprinkler problem recently.
Water and Wind
Foxtail North has recently been aerated. Normally a fast course the greens and fairways played very slow. It was extremely windy with a few challenging holes into the wind that you have to carry the water, fortunately there are bail out areas. They get lots of senior play during the week and pace of play is poor because most walk. Overall, this is a basic muni course that gets lots of play.
Great Fun
Staff was great in moving pace in friendly way , Course is in very good conditions, par 3's were challenging greens very nice I recommend it.
A different course from the Blues
For us mid-teen handcappers, the Blue T's yield some very long second shots for the par 4's. AND some tricky layups on holes 4 & 6.
