Foxtail Golf Club - North Course
About
Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park offers two championship courses, the North and the South, situated in the heart of wine country. The North Course originally opened in 1974 but underwent a major renovation that completely redesigned the layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The par-72 North is considerably longer and more difficult than the par-71 South. The North features multiple doglegs and strategically placed sand traps that will test even the most experienced players. To make the golf course a bit more approachable, water hazards don't play a prominent role, though they do appear on a few holes, and the forward tees are very player friendly. With 36 holes available, Foxtail G.C. is able to host tournaments and events while still having another 18 holes open to the public.

Foxtail North
The course is in great shape and the fees are reasonable.
golf
Great value for the money...would play it again! Greens are fast.
Best course in Rohnert park, Ca
The North course is in good condition. Its chalenging considering the firm and fast greens. The placement of the holes on the green is hard to read but we enjoyed the round as it bring out our skills in chipping and putting. I will definitely go back and play Foxtail again. Next time will try the south course.
This course has great green condition.
Overall this course is good. Some good challenging holes.
Great course, well maintained and a pleasure to play.
One of my favorite courses in all of the SF Bay Area.
Good value
This course is one of my favorites first because it is a great value and second I like the design, not a monster with my erratic game, just a straight forward track. My kid and I played for $34 total. It's about 6,400 yards from the blue tees but seems to play longer because there are some tough par 4's. Some of the fairways have poor watering patterns so there are bare spots and thin turf, but the greens are usually well maintained and fairly fast.
Never play on A Saturday
Clearly the staff has ZERO idea on how to organize a tee sheet. On more than a few holes we had 4 count em 4 groups on a hole...Seriously, for 65 bucks - NO THANKS. The course was so packed they we handing out free rounds like candy. Really bummed out, my buddies and I to look forward to golfing all week and drive 45 minutes up to Rohnert Park to have a 5:35 ROUND, rude folks working there and a terrible time. Monday- Friday may be better but don't go near that place on the weekends....
inexpensive course gets lots of players, needs water or rain to restore grass in many areas
We've played Foxtail South many times and even if it is heavily used, it is an enjoyable, not too challenging course for the less than good golfer. There are few challenges for the straight and long ball hitters, for the average duffer, it make you work..
Flat Track with some challenging approaches
I have always loved these two courses (Foxtail North & South) and for the $$$ you can't find a better deal for 18 w/cart. It's a hidden gem for us weekend golfers!
Super fast Greens!
I've played the course on numerous occassions; I found the course in great shape!
Very plush and borderline over watered for October, considering we have had very little rain.
The Greens were much better/faster than I remember, the course has been very well maintained.
Starting Green Fee's were $50/player; Golf Now got us on the course for $27/player...at Noon!
goog deal
Course was in good shape. Pleasantly surprised at quick pace of play on a weekend ,altho group behind us hit into us a few times,
we weren't really holding them up.
Friendly course and greens are coming along nicely!
Best value in the area by far. Nice new carts, great staff. A few spots could use help but overall a great place to play.
cheap muni
great value. Flat course, poor drainage.
Great greens, lightning quick.
bad taste on the back nine, the starter let a father and two very young children cut in on the 10 hole. Father was quite rude, When asked where they came from the Dad was all attitude. It was a very bad experience.
Nice, fun course
Great greens - fast and true. Nice fairways - lots of room to land shots, but lots of trees to create challenge for off-line shots.
Very nice course
Very nice course, would play again. 2 full 18 holes in great neighborhood.
South Course an excellent value for the casual golfer
Played with a friend of mine on Sunday, August 18th. Tee time at 9:12am. We paid $28/person for 18 holes, including cart. We were ecstatic about getting this price. Tremendous value.
It was just the two of us, but we weren't paired up with another two-some, which we appreciated. We don't play often, so we liked being able to play at our own pace.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable round. The front nine was very slow moving, as there were a few groups bunched up ahead of us, but we were in no rush so it was fine.
I've played the FoxTail South Course probably 6-8 times before, and it is a fairly easy course for the casual/average player. Not too many opportunities to lose golf balls, as long as you keep your drives relatively straight (which I appreciate). There are a few holes with water and some long Par 4s with trees lining the fairway, so I think there are still enough challenges to keep things interesting.
The course is in decent shape, but one thing that REALLY stood out (and I've noticed before at this course), is the amount of standing water everywhere. For the middle of the summer, where it hasn't rained in weeks, the course is borderline flooded in several areas. It didn't really affect our gameplay at all, but it was definitely strange. There were a couple times where I found myself slopping through mud to get to my ball, even though it was barely off the fairway. Just something to keep an eye on, I guess.
All is all, a fun round of golf at a super friendly price. Cheers!
Fun course layout (Noth Course)
My friend and I play every other weekend, he lives in Santa Rosa and I live in Napa and we really enjoy playing the North Course. The course is always kept in great shape with challenging greens. We enjoy the course not only because of location, but mainly you can grip and rip for the majority of the holes. Definitely recommend the "North Course" at Foxtail G.C., an enjoyable layout.
Greens were really fast and wouldn't hold approach or chip shots. Made it challenging.
I would play the course again for the value. There was a twosome in from of us with one player and his 2 year old son. He let him putt after he was done playing while we waited to hit our approach shots.
Advice for Foxtail...no children under the age of 7 on the course. Made no sense at all and it slowed play. That is what the driving range/putting greens are for. Correct?
