Not wonderful in winter conditions -
the fairways are yellow, but a good deal for the money
Goos practice course
Enjoyed playing Wild Wings even though it had been aerated two days earlier (was aware of conditions prior to playing as golfnow had highlighted recent aeration). The course is 9 holes with 3 each par 3's, 4's and 5's. You play two rounds for your green fee. Course was in overall average condition. Some fairwayss needed some water but were playable. Nice staff. Would play there again. Not extremely difficult but a nice course to play when you have not hit a golf ball during the winter months.
course was open after severe storms for several days. drains nicely in some areas and very poorly in other areas.
booked on golfnow. when i got to the course the staff informed us they would not allow carts on the course. this was obviously a good call by the staff due to the amount of rain the course had to endure over a 2-3 day period. the problem was however that the price paid to golf now includes a cart. the staff at Wildwings pointed that out and promptly wrote out a pass for a cart for my next visit.
the greens on this course are easily some of the best in the Sacramento area. the staff obviously takes pride in their 9-hole course. this is why I continually come back. for a 14 handicap player like myself it sure feels good to come out to a fun course and shoot in the low 80's and upper 70's!!!!!
No Flat Greens Anywhere!
This is an awesome course. There are no flat greens anywhere, but they are all consistant. Same speed on all the greens. Staff and course are A-1 in my books.
Beautiful Greens, fun layout.
When you first pull up, the course doesn't look like much. The small clubhouse and nets for warming up look much like some lesser courses I have played. Yet the staff is very welcoming and friendly, the nets do the job for warm up, and the practice green is immaculate. All the tee boxes are nice and level, something I can't say about some fancier courses. At first the fairways look pretty bad. Yet when you get out on them, the grass is still intact, just a little dry. And hitting off it feels the same as green grass to me. Great for fairway woods. Yet the real star of the course is the greens. They are fast, a little tricky, yet the ball rolls beautifully. Probably the best I have ever putted. And I am not good, so if I putted well, the greens must be good. I just wish the course was not an hour and a half away from home. I would play there all the time if it was closer. Can't wait to go back.
obvious best greens around
also has some great sand, sad to be in the bunker, but new sand is like hitting out of a beach. only nine holes, but not a small executive course, it has 3 par 3, 3 par 4, and 3 par 5, total 36. you play twice and they have two different colored pins on each hole.
