Foxtail Golf Club - South Course
About
There are two championship courses at Foxtail Golf Club, the North and the South. Situated in the heart of wine country, both courses enjoy a lush, scenic landscape and pleasant views of the surrounding countryside. The longer and more difficult North Course was completely redesigned to make it more challenging but the player-friendly South Course has remained a favorite destination of both Sonoma and Marin Counties for its playability. It provides a more beginner-friendly option than the North, but there are still plenty of challenges in store. No water hazards come into play but there are several strategically placed bunkers as well as trees lining the fairways. In addition to the two golf courses, Foxtail also boasts one of the best practice facilities in the North Bay. There is a full driving range available as well as chipping and putting greens.

great course
The greens are in great shape -- fairway bunkers are concrete but there is good sand in the greenside traps. FIx your ballmarks, folks.
Good place to play for a real neat price
this is the lessor course at Foxtail but still has enough length and trees on the edges of the fairways to make it a little challenging. I have played this course many times in the past years and always had a enjoyable round.
Simple Ftiday Evening Loop
Nicely gtoomed fairways and challenging greens awaited us on a recent Friday evening ... minimal wind and good use of natural barriers make this course a thoughtful loop that played in about 4hrs. We stuck to the middle of the fairways and played aggressive on the par 4’s and 5 driving past the streams and ditches to setup for approach shots. Trees played well separating outbound/inbound holes on front 9.
All around a confidence builder with no gripes . Give it a try and for the price can’t be beat.
First Time Run
9:09 Tee time. Struggled to begin with, did not have a course map on cart or scorecard. .hazards were well marked
Nice day
We had a nice day at Foxtail.
Pro shop guy was very pleasant. We had a t time of 12:20 and had the option of going to the tee early.
The practice putting green resembled to course greens so that was nice. Range buckets kind of pricey. $5 for a small, really small bucket.
Fairways on the front nine South course needed mowing. We played preferred lies so it wasn’t a problem. The South course was backed up and pace of play was slow.
We skipped two holes and jumped on the North course. No body there. We did carch up to a single and just followed him around.
North front nice greens were slow because they had puched amd sanded them. They still putted ok.
Good Greens...
I played the South course ( First time playing ) It's your typical average golf course with uneven / not mowed tee boxes. Best part were the greens.
the south course is the second one but still good
The South course at Foxtail is not their premier course but is still maintained and is generally in good shape. The traps need more sand but the rest of the course was in good shape. The course is harder than it looks and is a good test of your skills.
easy nice course
pretty straight course with some water and trees but for the most part straight holes.
best time of year to play there right now
Good curses but plays a little wet
Good course for the money they should trim the rough grass was very high .
another day in paradise
Foxtail North is in excellent shape right now. Greens are perfect, fairways are great -- some bunkers still needing sand but it doesn't get much better than this.
North course
Starter was extremely informative.
The towel was a nice touch.
COurse is set up for right to left lay.
GReat for long hitters
Very challenging
Only thing missing was beer cart
muddy in summer?
Many spots were muddy, especially in the rough. Strange when it's summer. It was also like that the last time I played there last year (August 2017). Could be a problem with underground sewer leak??? Also some wet spots in several sand bunkers all over the course. Many bunkers had flies buzzing around. I don't quite understand what's going on with this course. For the bunkers that weren't wet, the sand was hard-packed.
Great course.
Very nice course. Very clean and fresh atmosphere. We enjoyed our play.
