Foxtail Golf Club - South Course
About
There are two championship courses at Foxtail Golf Club, the North and the South. Situated in the heart of wine country, both courses enjoy a lush, scenic landscape and pleasant views of the surrounding countryside. The longer and more difficult North Course was completely redesigned to make it more challenging but the player-friendly South Course has remained a favorite destination of both Sonoma and Marin Counties for its playability. It provides a more beginner-friendly option than the North, but there are still plenty of challenges in store. No water hazards come into play but there are several strategically placed bunkers as well as trees lining the fairways. In addition to the two golf courses, Foxtail also boasts one of the best practice facilities in the North Bay. There is a full driving range available as well as chipping and putting greens.

Did not play
It was too cold and windy to play, so we did not use the prepaid tee time
Greens
Greens are good but traps need sand and are all clay.
thanks
Staff friendly, members friendly, great value, courses both south and north are fun to play.
Good greens and fairways
Overall, the south course is in good shape. Off the fairways was pretty barren. The greens were in really good condition.
Good for the money
Good course for beginner and intermediate players. Greens were well maintained. Good deals on Golf Now.
Excellent Value for the Money
Played this South course on an early Wednesday morning and there was no wait at any hole. Both the fairways and greens were in great shape. Although there are homes along many of the fairways, they are typically hidden/protected by well-positioned trees, so that made for a more relaxing round.
Fox Tail South
Fairways are bad - greens are ok to good. Depending on the green. For the money - its a decent value. Hit'em straight!
Amazing Staff
I wish I remember the gentleman who checked us in, besides his very professional service he suggested us to sightseeing by the River drive onto Bodega Bay. It was a pleasant drive and found another golf course: North Wood, Rio Monte. His service was excellent.
Greens were nice
Course suffering from drought like most Northern California courses
greens, good condition;parts of the fairway are dry and cracked.
I like the South Course, but prefer the North Course. However, sections of the fairway are dry and cracked; bunkers need more quality sand.
Former Resident back for a visit
Used to live near the course and have played both the North and South course many times. The South is a shorter course, but still challenging for a mid-range handicapper. Good mix of short and 2 very long Par 5's. Number 2 and Number 11, you need your big dogs out there. Both very straight though.
South Course
Greens were good. Mostly straight forward holes with only one dogleg Fairways could use some TLC.
very slow
They had 4 man best ball tournament thay day and it was so slow we didn't enjoy at all so we left.
Inexpensive and you get what you pay for.
Fairways are missing a lot of grass. Bunkers are crusty. Greens are bumpy.
Great for the price
Beautiful Course , I heard the bunkers were bad but they played great
Super Slow Fivesome ahead of us
My T-time was at 9:54am on Sunday 7/27. There was a fivesome ahead of us with 3 carts. They were older guys and I understand that part but they were brutally slow. It took over 5 hours for us to finish. They did not split up after teeing off and were taking their sweet time. I think they should have been told to speed up and that they should not allow fivesomes to go out...
Great value for the money
Course is city-owned muni so gets lots of play. Needs more maintenance but is well-irrigated. Extremely good value for the money. Friendly staff, often has wedding/banquet facility activity on the weekend so you need to be prepared to mingle with those types of crowds after your round.
