Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Great Value
Welcoming staff, timely pace of play. Most greens were like on a plateau…encouraging one to think a lot about the approach shot.
Can’t beat it for the price
Greens are in great shape tee boxes are nice, fairways could use a little work. Pace of play on the weekends is always horrendous, but that’s the only down side. Course is pretty challenging and can be tight for beginners.
Still Lovin’ This Course
I seem to play this course every week and though I could suggest some small improvements - it’s an awesome place to play. The pace is pretty good ( and right now it’s great - coming to the end of the season) so we zip along and enjoy the scenery! Look forward to the pub and Paula - master mixologist- and other players who appreciate this course. It’s a pleasure to play Mount Dora Golf Course!!
Elevation change..
Elevation changes, slopes and smaller greens, make this course challenging. Repeat play should lead to better scores after understanding the layout and what to expect.. I enjoyed it enough I would play it again. I'm from out of state, so this was my first round here.
Historic
Pros: Greens in fantastic shape (slow but clean and smooth). Course maintains the old layout keep history. There's a few holes with some elevation which is nice and different in this state
Cons: Fairways were not in great shape. Bunker sand was very hard. Only 1 hole had water, which left layout/challenge lacking (but could be a good thing for most).
100% would play again.
MikeB
Course was much like courses up north_tree lined and fairly hilly. The greens were very small and most were crowned.
Great Course
The course and greens were in great shape. The building/amenities are older but quaint. Pro-shop did not have a large selection of products for sale so don't forget to bring anything you need. Would recommend.
Mt Dora
The old course at Mt dora always presents a fun, challenging round. The staff is always friendly and the greens crew has worked really hard over the last year to keep fairways tees and greens in great shape. The shorter yardage makes many people think this is an easy track, but big elevation changes, smaller fast greens and tough approaches five it plenty of challenge. I play here quite a bit and always feel welcome and look forward to coming back. It's a great value on a nice old fashioned course.
Hidden Gem
I have played here most of the winter and have been so impressed with the conditioning of this course during a rather nasty El Nino weather pattern. Fairways are in great condition, greens are among the best we've played in the area and are on par with higher end courses. With the exception of 3 or 4, tee boxes are in excellent shape. What really impresses me are the little things... bunkers are very well maintained with good sand and well cut edges, pins are rotated regularly, trees and other vegetation are trimmed. All in all the impression is that the course is well tended and cared for. Don't be fooled by the length of the course in terms of a challenge! Greens are small, many of them turtlebacked and some with very subtle but significant breaks. Miss the green and the thick bermuda rough will require excellence to get it close. Having played a number of courses from The Villages down to Apopka, this course is by far the best value we have found. Finally, you won't find better, more friendly and helpful staff anywhere!
Greens were a little slow but in great shape. Chris the bartender was awesome with our post round celebrations.
Course conditions
They have come a long way and we play mostly local and by far the best condition. It's taken a while but for the last month the greens have been very nice...
Okay for a quick round
The course layout was not bad, but this is an old course with very small crowned greens, so some were very tough to hit and keep a ball on them. On one uphill par 5, the flag was in the middle, and a shot hit close to the flag went over the green. The chip back rolled off the green and about 20 yards down the fairway, then a put that went past the pin did the same thing. There were a few others close, but not quite that tough. If the greens were redone, this could be a nice layout. Overall, the course was in good condition, and our round only took 2.5 hours, with not many people on the course. I might go back for a very quick round, but not very likely.
The course has small greens and lots of elevation.
Course was in good shape, but they could take out some trees. The tee box on two par 3s was behind a tree. I couldn’t aim at the green. I thought it was a little unfair.
