Tierra Verde Golf Club
About
Located in a remote southwest part of the city, Tierra Verde is the successful result of Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department’s effort to provide an upscale, daily fee municipal to complement the other public golf options in town.
Labeled with the new and prestigious Audubon International Signature Certification, this course was the first in Texas and the first municipal course in the world to achieve that honor. The certification signifies that the course was “designed, constructed, and maintained using wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement, water quality management, and water conservation.” What this means for the inconsistent hack is that sprayed shots are not out-of-bounds, but instead buried in a “protected environment.” Unfortunately, the penalty still applies and you’ll need to take your drop. The opening hole is a good example–it’s a basic 355-yard hole, but anything sliced right will find a plum tree thicket, which is the same as hitting it into a lake.
In terms of strategy, you’ll be able to enjoy the generous fairways, but the approaches will require much more precision. Look at the scorecard and get your pars in on the shorter holes, then manage your game to avoid huge numbers on the more difficult holes.
One of the better holes on the front is No. 8, a 518 yard doglegger left that bends hard enough to favor a severe hook. Watch out for the multi-level green and its deceptive turns.
Water is more prominent on the back, as you’ll see on No. 9, a short par 4 that requires a tee shot over water. The narrow fairway squeezes toward the green, and it’s nice to know that the green widens on the back side. The par 5 No. 13 is a birdie hole if you pay attention to the flag position on the huge figure 8 shaped green. This one has water off the tee, as does No. 12. In fact, if you’re short on balls at the turn, you should stock up. Water impacts play time and time again. No. 18, a long par 4 at 437 yards, involves a creek in the fairway that must be carried on the approach.
Other notes: Another bonus at Tierra Verde is the club’s three-hole practice course and lighted driving range.
Getting there : Take US 287 south off of I-20. Find Eden Road and turn right. The entrance is on the left.

Great Value! Well Maintained Course.
It's a bit of a drive, but an easy one, to get to Tierra Verde from Dallas, but for the money you pay, the friendliness of the staff, and the condition of the golf course, I always find it worth it. They had seemingly recently punched and sanded the greens when we played last week, but they were recovering nicely, and rolled suprisingly true. I've never had a bad experience at Tierra Verde. The only minor complaint I would have, is I have seen every time I've played there that the pro shop will send out a foursome, a single, a foursome, two twosomes, a foursome etc... Not great management of groups, but that's my only negative note. In general, I really enjoy heading out to Tierra Verde.
Overall nice course
I played this course about a month ago and it was in pristine condition. My second experience wasn't as good because the greens had been punched and sanded the day prior and addition to that the skies opened up after my third hole and the staff closed the course due to the rain and gave me a credit of half of what I paid towards a future round. Great course to play but make sure there is no rain in the forecast because your rain check will be skewed in favor of the course!
Beware of Ron J. - asst. golf pro if using GolfNow
I had to give a bad review. However, Ron ruined the experience. I am an experienced, 46 year old golfer that plays the back tees and try to always be courteous & conscientious. This was my first time to play this course. Due to rain & lightning I went back to the clubhouse. He acted like a rain check wasn't an option. I waited 20 minutes & then asked. He complained about not getting any revenue from a GolfNow booking, and then begrudgingly told me to contact GolfNow for the rain check. He then began to lecture me on playing ahead of the guy they paired me with - claiming they don't do singles on the tee box?? I politely informed him that I went ahead of the guy because the guy they paired me with wanted to ball hawk & that I had the Marshall's permission. Nonetheless, he continued down an arrogant & agitated path. I left politely, but resolved I would not go back. This was my first time to play the course. There are too many good courses in the DFW area to put up with this guy.
Like being in the country, but you aren't.
Wide fairways, huge greens that roll well, country quiet course. One of my favorites courses.
Awesome Course
If you come to Dallas / Ft. Worth area for work, make sure to go out and play this course. Staff is very nice, rental clubs are sweet and course is awesome. Big undulating greens can be tough though.
Best course in FTW
Always great staff, Cours ein great condition. Best for the money
The course was awesome!!!! Fairways, rough, and greens were in perfect condition. There was not a bad spot on the golf course!

True Greens - Tight Fairways at times.
Fairways are tight and if you miss the fairway it's a lost ball.
Well maintained all year round.
One of my favorite courses. Friendly staffs. Course always in a great shape.
This one of the best courses Ive played all year
We come in and start on 1st tee and fairways are in pristine condition and the greens are just as good as the fairway. Most of the holes were very challenging more like a PGA course from the tips where we played.....Awesome! That's all I can say.
Greens are pristine
My new favorite course in DFW! Love the layout, will play again!!!
excellent shape. Excellent staff.
This trac is one of my favorites. The staff was super helpful and cheery. It sometimes can seem with top-of-the-line courses as though you are burdening them or that you are lucky to be playing there, but I never get that feeling at TV. Honestly, the prices aren't too bad either since the course is municipally owned and managed.
I'd rather play a course like this and pay a little more, than get a "good deal" and still fell that I've been ripped off because of shoddy course conditions, etc.
Excellent course and excellent staff!
I have wanted to play this course for two years after hearing very good reports from guys that have played it. Due to the SUPER deal from Golf Now my buddy and I got to play a round. Even though it's a 45 min. drive through Fort Worth from my home to the course it was well worth the trip and we will gladly go again in the near future.
The only downside to an otherwise great experience was it rained the night before and there was a brief shower early that morning (we had a 1230 tee time) so it was cart path only. The fairways were soggy in places and some of the sand traps held water but overall not a concern.
The course is set up for any level player and does require decent shop placement and the ability to hit most of your irons. The greens were in very good shape and looked as if they had been sanded recently so the rain did not effect them.
This course is on my "must play again" list especially if I can book another super deal on Golf Now. These deals are especially important to me and my golfing buddies since we are all on a fixed income and the good deals limits the pressure from the wives to not spend too much money on golf.
Great place to play and pretty,
It's is a good place to play, good par fives, good par fours and good par threes. Very nice layout, fair but can be difficult. Always in good shape,
punched greens
great course if you can get it for under $30.back tees total work.move up for more fun round.
Greens punched and sandy
They weren't very busy on a wed afternoon at noon. In fact I didn't even see the group ahead of me till 18. The greens were very sandy after being punched about a week ago it looked like. I was still able to putt under 2 strokes on all the greens. Being able to hit it straight is a must at this course as the rough will steal your ball!
Add it to your list
It is a pretty good pull from Frisco where i live, but had business out that way. I am glad I took the opportunity to play. Course was in great shape, greens were a tad slow, but rolled great. I'll definitely make an effort to play again.
great if you are a low handicap golfer!!
This is a beautiful course, but it is extremely challenging. If you miss the fairway, you are in tall grass and no chance of finding your ball. There is no playable rough, so bring plenty of balls, and expect a high score. If I was good enough, this course would be amazing. Too challenging for someone with my skill level.
One Of the Best In DFW
After a few holes it's easy to see why Arlington is so proud of this course. There are plenty of demanding shots required off the tee along with trouble on both sides of most fairways - I started out with trouble right on hole one.
The par 3's all take a different club and are affected by the prevailing wind.
Many elevation changes here make this a course demanding a variety of shots - I always struggle on the uphill par-5.
A couple of holes have a creek crossing the fairway - usually right where I hit it.
Staff was very nice both in the golf shop and on the course.
Good value here.
Nice touch course
Well maintained golf course, one of my favorite golf course in DFW area. Would recommend to anyone.
