About
Located in a remote southwest part of the city, Tierra Verde is the successful result of Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department’s effort to provide an upscale, daily fee municipal to complement the other public golf options in town.
Labeled with the new and prestigious Audubon International Signature Certification, this course was the first in Texas and the first municipal course in the world to achieve that honor. The certification signifies that the course was “designed, constructed, and maintained using wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement, water quality management, and water conservation.” What this means for the inconsistent hack is that sprayed shots are not out-of-bounds, but instead buried in a “protected environment.” Unfortunately, the penalty still applies and you’ll need to take your drop. The opening hole is a good example–it’s a basic 355-yard hole, but anything sliced right will find a plum tree thicket, which is the same as hitting it into a lake.
In terms of strategy, you’ll be able to enjoy the generous fairways, but the approaches will require much more precision. Look at the scorecard and get your pars in on the shorter holes, then manage your game to avoid huge numbers on the more difficult holes.
One of the better holes on the front is No. 8, a 518 yard doglegger left that bends hard enough to favor a severe hook. Watch out for the multi-level green and its deceptive turns.
Water is more prominent on the back, as you’ll see on No. 9, a short par 4 that requires a tee shot over water. The narrow fairway squeezes toward the green, and it’s nice to know that the green widens on the back side. The par 5 No. 13 is a birdie hole if you pay attention to the flag position on the huge figure 8 shaped green. This one has water off the tee, as does No. 12. In fact, if you’re short on balls at the turn, you should stock up. Water impacts play time and time again. No. 18, a long par 4 at 437 yards, involves a creek in the fairway that must be carried on the approach.
Other notes: Another bonus at Tierra Verde is the club’s three-hole practice course and lighted driving range.

Not for beginners.
This course has extremely narrow tee boxes. If you have not dialed in your drive you will have a heck of a time playing here. The course itself was amazing though. Probably the best course I have played on yet. And we paid for it too. I will be back one day when I am a much better golfer.
Wonderful course condition
Course was immaculate. It's an interesting layout. Greens roll nicely. Some are tricky. You need to play to know where to place the ball. Cannot tell from fairway. But very enjoyable.

Tee boxes are a little bare! Other than that nice course. A little pricey though.
Our whole group arrived early, so we went off early. Course was in super condition tee to green. Has to be the greenest course in Texas, not one house to be seen, and only one adjoining fairway can be seen.
All you see is the hole you are playing. Our guys found loads of golf balls. Course is very fair, safe landing areas and pins. The bunkers were few, but hard and filled with dirt o sand. Stayed for lunch afterwards and enjoyed the clubhouse.

Good But Expensive
Very good course, but is not a very good value deal. 70+ for a round is a little too much for this course. 45 - 60 would be more appropriate. Course conditions are usually very good. No homes on this track, so lots of wildlife and scenic views. This course will require you to strike your ball well. If you tend to lose your ball - you will not like this place. Once the ball is Out of Bounds - it's usually gone for good. Pace of play is good as long as you're not behind someone trying to locate their ball thats OB - if so, it will be a long day.

Tierra Verde
Tierra Verde is currently in great shape! No complaints from tee to green. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The layout is great and I have never felt like I am being crowded. If the course was cheaper I would play there more often. There is always hope.

Maintenance and cart direction signage
Excellently maintained. Could use both center fairway poles and hole direction signage on a couple of holes.

I love this course layout
I always love playing this course but it is spring and tournament season is coming. Greens are slow but good. I am so happy is now on golf now!
BTW... this is David and Rocket I am playing Sunday and one hot deal left.!!! Forgot to get your number.. lol

Good course

Not in the best shape
Paid $76.00 on Golfnow. Course was rated very high. Price included small bag of range balls which was nice. The range was nice and had grass tees. The course itself was dissapointing. Greens were punched a couple of weeks before and were not filled in so it was no use putting. The fairways were dried out and very hard with liittle grass and alot of bare spots. Sand traps were filled with stones and not groomed to even basic standards. The layout is nice and the staff was great. Bottom line their is much better courses for the money.

Punched Greens
We found out the greens had just been punched only after we got there so the putting wasn't much fun. No beverage cart at all on the back 9. Course layout is nice. The experience was OK for the price.
Awesome but...
The condition and layout were great. My only complaint was no drink cart on the course. It was a very sunny Sunday afternoon, 80° and there was no one out there during our round. That was irritating but the course is top notch

Hit em straight
Very nice course with a challenging layout. It is secluded and has generous fairways to help you keep your ball in play. If you miss though, you probably will loose your ball, along with a stroke or two. Plenty of bunkers to find and the greens were in very good condition. The staff were nice and helpful which made it an even better experience.

Fantastic Golf at Tierra Verde...
There are some courses that, when you can find them on Golf Now Hot Deals, you drop everything that you're doing and go play. Tierra Verde is one of those courses. One of the most challenging layouts in D/FW due in no small part to the greens which are always well maintained, but challenging. Course is in very good shape for late February and we played in 4 hours on a Friday afternoon. This is a course that you need to play and play again.
