About
Located in a remote southwest part of the city, Tierra Verde is the successful result of Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department’s effort to provide an upscale, daily fee municipal to complement the other public golf options in town.
Labeled with the new and prestigious Audubon International Signature Certification, this course was the first in Texas and the first municipal course in the world to achieve that honor. The certification signifies that the course was “designed, constructed, and maintained using wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement, water quality management, and water conservation.” What this means for the inconsistent hack is that sprayed shots are not out-of-bounds, but instead buried in a “protected environment.” Unfortunately, the penalty still applies and you’ll need to take your drop. The opening hole is a good example–it’s a basic 355-yard hole, but anything sliced right will find a plum tree thicket, which is the same as hitting it into a lake.
In terms of strategy, you’ll be able to enjoy the generous fairways, but the approaches will require much more precision. Look at the scorecard and get your pars in on the shorter holes, then manage your game to avoid huge numbers on the more difficult holes.
One of the better holes on the front is No. 8, a 518 yard doglegger left that bends hard enough to favor a severe hook. Watch out for the multi-level green and its deceptive turns.
Water is more prominent on the back, as you’ll see on No. 9, a short par 4 that requires a tee shot over water. The narrow fairway squeezes toward the green, and it’s nice to know that the green widens on the back side. The par 5 No. 13 is a birdie hole if you pay attention to the flag position on the huge figure 8 shaped green. This one has water off the tee, as does No. 12. In fact, if you’re short on balls at the turn, you should stock up. Water impacts play time and time again. No. 18, a long par 4 at 437 yards, involves a creek in the fairway that must be carried on the approach.
Other notes: Another bonus at Tierra Verde is the club’s three-hole practice course and lighted driving range.

A winter's game
The grass here is dormant in January but is not a deterrent to playing. It was supposed to be 65 degrees but was bitter cold. It's a nice course but I was just trying to stay warm.
Hidden Gem
This is a top shelf coarse and facility! Blessed that I don’t live far, the practice area and range is one of the best around. The course will test you and some holes are blind dog legs, but the fairways are generous. The greens are receptive, roll nice and well kept. I would recommend this coarse!
Also, the restaurant/ bar serves great food.

Green Earth
The course layout and conditions of the Tee Boxes and Greens were superb. The only thing that dampened course conditions was the winter weather. This course is challenging, but a fun time. I recommend trying it out if you have not!

Some wonky holes but a fun track to play
We booked on a day there was a junior tournament behind us. Played the gold tees (one down from the tips) but on a third of the holes, this day, the gold was behind the tips and every hole they had us playing from the longest tee box. played very long for us but yet still had an enjoyable round with a good test on the greens. Not running particularly fast but they were rolling true. Most holes in good shape considering the winter conditions. We were off around 8:30am so not much foot traffic around the hole. All in all a good track and I would recommend playing this one.

Great public course option

Beautiful course
Took a vacation to Dallas and played this course after finding out it was theb#2 ranked public course in Dallas so I had to check it out. Nice fairways fast greens. Tee boxes (played from the silver tees) some had some long grass and weren't cut. But other than that for October golf the course was in very good condition. When in Dallas I will definitely play this course again. Friendly staff nice putting practice green and good wide driving range. Also has restaurant and normal snack bar.

NIce course out of the way
Overall a very playable course for all skill levels. There is a variety of terrain. The terrain and layout is very similar to Texas Star in Euless. The course was well maintained and the greens were in excellent condition. There price was reasonable. The day we played there was not many people on the course and we were done in 3 hours and 30 minutes. It is somewhat out of the way if you are in the metro Dallas area, but is easy to get to.

Needs work
I played this course 2 years ago. It was one of the top courses I played. I was looking forward to returning. The course was a little chewed up and tattered. Tee boxes, greens, traps all just worn and tattered. Greens had a lot of spots, the cups were tattered and beat up, one sand trap had actual sand in it - on the ninth hole in the right fairway bunker - that's it. Glad I played half price on Golf now, otherwise I would of been quite upset! It's as though they are already in Winter mode - get it together management - this is a golf course in need of some work.

Was impressed
Have to say I was impressed with the greens wasn't punched always a plus. The fairways were in great shape too. Always have loved the layout of this course. I would play moore but hard to get a good rate just can't play all the time for the higher priced. But other than that a give a A+. And the staff was pleasant
Hot. Slow play for 2
There were just two of us we both hold low handicap. But each time we play there the back 9 bogs down. People appear from nowhere in front of you and do not allow you to play through. Not much marshaling.
But, a nice course. Little pricey for week day play.

Vistas Galore
What an excellent course. Fabulous layout and quite challenging. Some blind tee shots and a lot of elevation changes. Can't wait to play a second time when I am visiting in the area. Greens and fairways were perfect. Shot 83 with 3 birds the first time. It really helped having my laser range finder. Bring yours if you have one.

Tierra Verde, hands down, is one of the nicest golf courses in the entire DFW area....not just beautiful, but challenging and great shape in all categories,...fairways, greens, tee boxes, you name it, and all is great. Always friendly staff....I would recommend this course to anybody and everybody! Great food in the grill, too!
