Tierra Verde Golf Club
About
Located in a remote southwest part of the city, Tierra Verde is the successful result of Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department’s effort to provide an upscale, daily fee municipal to complement the other public golf options in town.
Labeled with the new and prestigious Audubon International Signature Certification, this course was the first in Texas and the first municipal course in the world to achieve that honor. The certification signifies that the course was “designed, constructed, and maintained using wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement, water quality management, and water conservation.” What this means for the inconsistent hack is that sprayed shots are not out-of-bounds, but instead buried in a “protected environment.” Unfortunately, the penalty still applies and you’ll need to take your drop. The opening hole is a good example–it’s a basic 355-yard hole, but anything sliced right will find a plum tree thicket, which is the same as hitting it into a lake.
In terms of strategy, you’ll be able to enjoy the generous fairways, but the approaches will require much more precision. Look at the scorecard and get your pars in on the shorter holes, then manage your game to avoid huge numbers on the more difficult holes.
One of the better holes on the front is No. 8, a 518 yard doglegger left that bends hard enough to favor a severe hook. Watch out for the multi-level green and its deceptive turns.
Water is more prominent on the back, as you’ll see on No. 9, a short par 4 that requires a tee shot over water. The narrow fairway squeezes toward the green, and it’s nice to know that the green widens on the back side. The par 5 No. 13 is a birdie hole if you pay attention to the flag position on the huge figure 8 shaped green. This one has water off the tee, as does No. 12. In fact, if you’re short on balls at the turn, you should stock up. Water impacts play time and time again. No. 18, a long par 4 at 437 yards, involves a creek in the fairway that must be carried on the approach.
Other notes: Another bonus at Tierra Verde is the club’s three-hole practice course and lighted driving range.
Getting there : Take US 287 south off of I-20. Find Eden Road and turn right. The entrance is on the left.

Playing here again
We played again on Sat afternoon.
They (often) had someone who drove the cart to the car to pick up players and asked about tee times, orient players and such.
The whole course is now punched, fairways, not greens (yet).
Greens are still ok. I've seen better greens at this course.
Green on #14 (par 3) has lots of divots marks, especially on the ridge in the middle of the green. Hope they have someone fixing that because of too many balls hitting the green at high angle.
We saw a couple roadrunners today :-)
Otherwise, 4 stars overall (1 less because of green condition).
Good course, Friendly staff
Green were ok, could be better.
Somewhat challenging course,
Back 9 fairway was punched (greens were not). Hole #9 fairway bunker was redone with beautiful white sand. I wish all the other bunkers were like that.
Has range area, large putting green and chipping green with practice bunker.
The course is next or within an Audubon Society wildlife reserve. So, I often see road runner in the summer.
Expensive in the Weekend mornings. Join Frequent Player Program to get discounts on afternoon hours.
We played here many times.
I think there is a 3-hole practice round, but we never played it.
There is a ball and shoe cleaner at every hole, but no club cleaner at the carts or GPS.
At that price level, GPS is expected.
Don't miss out
Sunny and 70 degrees in Texas on the first of February with a 12:30 tee time...... how can it get any better ? Well, how about if you drove to the course in the car that had your golf clubs in the trunk ! Sadly, as excited as I was to play Tierre Verde for the first time, I did not choose cars wisely. I explained my dilemma in the pro shop and the pleasant response was...."No problem, go get your clubs...we'll work you guys in."
As for the course...it didn"t disappoint. Beautiful rolling fairways, nice greens with some tough par fours nicely balanced with a couple of gettable par fives. My first trip around Tierre Verde was a really fun experience and it won't be the last. Gorgeous course, decent value and the staff was outstanding. Good job Arlington, Thanks
Not As Great as they make it out to be...
I live 2miles from this course and I only play it maybe 3 times a year, and that is only if I have a coupon. The price point of this course is way out of wack. It's just not worth the price. They don't allow push/pull carts and for no good reason. It would increase pace of play, but they don't allow it because they think it makes the course look like a municipal course. Forget about the fact that it is a city course.
It's just not worth the cost.
reat !un To Play! Nice Surburban Setting.
Great Course! Lots of fun, course is out in the country so no homes or roads or highways around the course which makes for great scenery and peace & quite. Food is good, staff is friendly, course ran on time and we actually finished our round in 3 hours fifteen minutes. My only complaint was we wanted to play the front nine 1 more time after our original 18 holes since we finished early, there was nobody on the box or waiting to play but they wanted to charge us $40.00 each to play the front nine again, it was 3:45 pm. Other than that everything else was spot on!
We like to play here
Tierra Verde is usually in very good condition. The other Arlington municipal courses are less expensive but we like to play here once in a while. The staff is great and help get your clubs onto the carts. Its a quiet and scenic course with a much better restaurant than the other places we play.
High handicap golfers might have trouble getting their drive over the frequent unkempt areas between the tees and the fairways.
Secluded gem
This is a great secluded golf course you forget you are in the city
Love thisncourse
Everything about Tierra Verde is awesome. The course is perfection. Challenging. Gorgeous. Every hole is its own picture.
The one complaint I have is that staff treating me as if I was guilty of a crime for ordering my round on golfnow.
I mean, I brought 3friends almost 30 miles to start a tee time in the afternoon and was treated as if I was less important because I didn't pay a full price. That was pretty disappointing but the course is still one of my favorites in Dallas/Ft Worth for sure. If you have time to spend some quality time doing a day of golf, I highly recommend this place.
very nice golf course
This is a very good golf course -"very fair and pure iayout. Precision off the tee is paramount! Accomplish that and the course can be had. Very traditional golf with a solid layout. The only other thing you must do is pay attention to pin placement -some greens are up to 45 yards in depth!! Enjoy.
Tierra Verde Golf Club
As always Tierra Verde Golf Club did not disappoint! Played a round with friends from France and they loved it!
Course was in great shape, pace of play was perfect and staff was amazing as usual.
I love this course
I love the course and it is one of the most beautiful layouts in the Arlington area.
Top notch track
Difficult to understand how a municipal course is consistently in such such great shape but the folks at Tierra Verde deliver. Greens are true and fast. Fairways and tees have been mowed sharp on every round I've played here. Course design is imaginative and the natural characteristics of the site make this a special place.
Great public course!
True shots are valued here. Beautiful course with lots of wildlife. I look forward to playing here on any trip to the Dallas area.
Fun course to play for all levels of golfers.
Must play course if your in the Fort Worth area. Friendly staff and excellent food.
Long wait times
The pace of play was horrible this day. Not sure it's like that all the time. Started at 2:40 and finish at 7:35 in the dark. Waited on every hole at least 8 mins before we tee off.
Pretty good
Wow
We love this time
We are play next week one more time
Very good
Great course in great condition
First time playing the course. It was in great condition. Love that you are in the woods with no homes around. Each hole feels like you are the only ones around. Greens were not fast but rolled true. I would definitely recommend this course and I look forward to the next time I can make it out here to play.
Awesome
Defiantly a must play course, right off the back we were greeted by staff in the parking lot with a cart! The pro shop guy was very friendly and the course was top notch!
Course is in Great Shape
Played a late afternoon 18 starting at 4pm on Friday. There were others on the course, but the pace of play was great. The course is in great condition, with the greens looking quite well given the hot July and August we have had. This course is good for all levels, as there are (I think) 4 or 5 tee box options. I will say a range finder is beneficial on this course, as many of the holes play shorter than they look. Overall, the staff is exceptional - pick you up from your car to the clubhouse, and have have a member waiting at the 18th green to clean your clubs. Watch for the hot deals, as this course is a steal when one is available.
Thank you for your recent positive feedback on Tierra Verde Golf Club. We strive to deliver quality customer service and a enjoyable experience on the course as well as in Ventana Grille. Remember, you can always Play it Forward* to assist with some of the forced carries of the tee. Hope to see you at the course soon.
