Tierra Verde Golf Club
About
Located in a remote southwest part of the city, Tierra Verde is the successful result of Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department’s effort to provide an upscale, daily fee municipal to complement the other public golf options in town.
Labeled with the new and prestigious Audubon International Signature Certification, this course was the first in Texas and the first municipal course in the world to achieve that honor. The certification signifies that the course was “designed, constructed, and maintained using wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement, water quality management, and water conservation.” What this means for the inconsistent hack is that sprayed shots are not out-of-bounds, but instead buried in a “protected environment.” Unfortunately, the penalty still applies and you’ll need to take your drop. The opening hole is a good example–it’s a basic 355-yard hole, but anything sliced right will find a plum tree thicket, which is the same as hitting it into a lake.
In terms of strategy, you’ll be able to enjoy the generous fairways, but the approaches will require much more precision. Look at the scorecard and get your pars in on the shorter holes, then manage your game to avoid huge numbers on the more difficult holes.
One of the better holes on the front is No. 8, a 518 yard doglegger left that bends hard enough to favor a severe hook. Watch out for the multi-level green and its deceptive turns.
Water is more prominent on the back, as you’ll see on No. 9, a short par 4 that requires a tee shot over water. The narrow fairway squeezes toward the green, and it’s nice to know that the green widens on the back side. The par 5 No. 13 is a birdie hole if you pay attention to the flag position on the huge figure 8 shaped green. This one has water off the tee, as does No. 12. In fact, if you’re short on balls at the turn, you should stock up. Water impacts play time and time again. No. 18, a long par 4 at 437 yards, involves a creek in the fairway that must be carried on the approach.
Other notes: Another bonus at Tierra Verde is the club’s three-hole practice course and lighted driving range.
Getting there : Take US 287 south off of I-20. Find Eden Road and turn right. The entrance is on the left.

Tierra Verde Golf Club
As always Tierra Verde Golf Club did not disappoint! Played a round with friends from France and they loved it!
Course was in great shape, pace of play was perfect and staff was amazing as usual.
I love this course
I love the course and it is one of the most beautiful layouts in the Arlington area.
Top notch track
Difficult to understand how a municipal course is consistently in such such great shape but the folks at Tierra Verde deliver. Greens are true and fast. Fairways and tees have been mowed sharp on every round I've played here. Course design is imaginative and the natural characteristics of the site make this a special place.
Great public course!
True shots are valued here. Beautiful course with lots of wildlife. I look forward to playing here on any trip to the Dallas area.
Fun course to play for all levels of golfers.
Must play course if your in the Fort Worth area. Friendly staff and excellent food.
Long wait times
The pace of play was horrible this day. Not sure it's like that all the time. Started at 2:40 and finish at 7:35 in the dark. Waited on every hole at least 8 mins before we tee off.
Pretty good
Wow
We love this time
We are play next week one more time
Very good
Great course in great condition
First time playing the course. It was in great condition. Love that you are in the woods with no homes around. Each hole feels like you are the only ones around. Greens were not fast but rolled true. I would definitely recommend this course and I look forward to the next time I can make it out here to play.
Awesome
Defiantly a must play course, right off the back we were greeted by staff in the parking lot with a cart! The pro shop guy was very friendly and the course was top notch!
Course is in Great Shape
Played a late afternoon 18 starting at 4pm on Friday. There were others on the course, but the pace of play was great. The course is in great condition, with the greens looking quite well given the hot July and August we have had. This course is good for all levels, as there are (I think) 4 or 5 tee box options. I will say a range finder is beneficial on this course, as many of the holes play shorter than they look. Overall, the staff is exceptional - pick you up from your car to the clubhouse, and have have a member waiting at the 18th green to clean your clubs. Watch for the hot deals, as this course is a steal when one is available.
You need to play Tierra Verde
Overall the course is in great condition. Spring flooding has been overcome and the course is looking great. There was one sand trap on #2 with water in it, but overall it was JB great shape. Greens rolled true and could be faster, but very playable for all skill levels. Terrain and layout gives you many looks you don't see often on public courses. Tee positions are available for all skill levels and ages. There is no GPS on cart which many courses in this price range offer, so having a range finder helps even with many yardage markers and 6 pin placements marked. Staff and grill crew are very friendly, food and drinks are all reasonably priced compared to other courses in this range.
Don't miss out on a great course and add this to your rotation of play. We routinely play here and get around in 4 hours early mornings. And 4.5 hours as the morning brings some slower players.
cool layout
Nice track, but had some overwatered spots on a couple fairways, and a couple green edges.
Great course
Nice fairways, great greens. Only knock I have is some of the tee boxes need work.
bring your driver!
this was a lovely course. very cool holes. the conditions were stellar.
the most important thing about this course is driving the ball well. there are many forced carries and/or narrow driving lanes. if you are struggling off the tee you are going to have a bad time.
if you get off the tee well, then this course if very playable and gives you lots of opportunities to score.
i gather from my friends that it's pretty rare for the public to get a chance to play this course, so if you get the chance you should definitely do it.
Nice layout
The course was in pretty good shape considering the heat of the summer. The greens were smooth but not particularly fast. If you're not hitting it straight expect to lose some balls. Overall though the course is not unfair it just doesn't allow for many wide misses.
Great course!
The course is in excellent condition, with fast greens!
This course has great features.
Each hole has five sets of tees, sculpted fairways, strategically placed sand bunkers and water hazards, and is accentuated by beautiful native grasses.
I think very good golf course.
Great place to play
Very much enjoyed Tierra Verde. The course was in good shape and posed several challenges, but also enjoyable and forgiving at times.
My only critiques would be the lack of front 9 cart service, our group was not serviced at all for the first two hours.
Also, there was no starter on the first tee box. The group behind us started to soon and pushed up behind us for the first 5 holes. When the marshall took notice he rectified the pace for the afternoon.
Neither of these things would ever keep me away from Tierra Verde, it's a wonderful facility in a convenient location.
Don't Miss
Played this course over 15 years ago . Only David Graham design in metroplex. It has matured beautifully and can be as challenging as you want . Super condition right now and a better value than Tangle Ridge . Go pay this wonderful track .
