About
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is a Tom Fazio design that is challenging, but with five sets of tees it is versatile enough for players of all skill levels. Fazio deftly utilized the native wetlands and numerous lakes that are interspersed across the landscape, incorporating them along the expansive fairways and angled greens. The tricky greens have been carefully molded and contoured to offer a variety of pin placements. In addition to the water hazards, there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The golf course will test your shot-making skills as well as your creativity. To complement the golf course, Hilton Head Lakes offers an equally impressive 36-acre, double-ended practice facility with target greens, bunkers, multiple practice greens, and even a par-3 short course.

Avoid until they fix the greens!
Poa annua grass has overtaken every green. They are virtually unputtable. The surfaces are similar to putting on the moon.
Do not book unless you get confirmation that this has been resolved. However given the conditions I witnessed today it is unlikely they could recover them this year (2023). Don’t know how they could have messed this up so poorly.
They are offering reduced rates but you should avoid this as well. Right now it is not worth playing at any price. I wish I had taken some pictures of the conditions.
I would gladly take a refund.
Worst green’s ever
I can honestly say that the greens were the worst that I have ever experienced.. such a mess. They should be ashamed asking for that kind of money, when the conditions are so poor.. save your money!

3/12/2023 round
Greens are horrific, basically unplayable due to the infestation of poa grass. I have this course many times over the years. This is by far the worst I have ever seen it. See attached photo.

Biggest Gator Ever
Very nice layout. Overseeding made greens tough . But biggest Gator I have ever seen crossed the cart path beside us on the 15th tee.

should get our money back
course conditions are terrible. greens are overrun with some weed that makes them unplayable. the course should have told us before we booked our tee time. the fairways don't have grass either, just weeds. the sand traps sand were all crusted, like a cement layer on top. golfnow should NOT list this course until it gets fixed. i can't see the greens getting any better unless they are weed killed and regrown. that could take upwards of a year. we were ripped off, they shouldn't be charging to play this cow pasture.

Terrible Greens
I liked the course layout but the greens were terrible. They should not charge $55 when the greens are this bad. The greens were the worst I've ever played. It was like playing bumper pool when you putted or chipped. There was a weed/grass/poa annum all over the greens and the ball would shoot off in random directions, never knowing which direction the ball would roll.

Bumpy Greens
The course is battling a weed that cannot be rectified and the greens were horrible. The fairways weren't much to speak of either.

Greens are Trash!
For the price I paid for this course, it was horrible. Best thing about the day was the friendly staff. Very nice course layout, but the greens were horrible! Our ball was rolling like it was on top of popcorn popping! Nice clubhouse but it wasn’t open. I’ve golfed way better courses for the price I paid to play. I recommend if you go here to call ahead and ask if there greens have recovered first.

Terrible greens - save your momey
We were very disappointed at the quality of this course for the money we paid. ($67.50 each). The tees and fairways are clumpy which is expected this time is year (February). But the greens were in terrible condition. At first we thought they were over seeded with something they were trying to grow but it was actually some kind of invasive grass everywhere. It was like playing plinko! And huge patches of ground under repair on the greens. Will never go back. We e played several other courses in the HH/Bluffton area in the past few weeks and this was by far the worst.

The greens were terrible. 3 foot putts bouncing left and right forget making a longer putt.

Disappointed
Nice lay out and especially liked layout on back nine but greens were in poor condition making for a disappointing round.. Staff was friendly but unable to confirm if water was available ( drink at your own risk)

Missing Greens
Course layout is great. Back 9 is scenic. Greens are a mess. Like playing on painted dirt. Po Amun everywhere. Played this course last year and it seems it took a turn for the worse on the most important part of the course.

Poor condition of golf coarse
The greens were terrible, many bare spots. Ridiculously priced at $70 for LOCAL rate, asinine! Won’t be back for a while and warning my friends.

Gone Down Hill
This course used to be one of my favorites. They had the course in great shape and it was really fun to play. Played there yesterday with some out of town friends and was really embarrassed that I had taken them there. Greens were poor to fair all the way around. No over seeding on the fairways. No water or cups at any of the tee boxes. The course, as I found it yesterday, is well on it's way to being a third tier course (Not recommended) and was definitely not worth but I paid to play it yesterday!
