About
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is a Tom Fazio design that is challenging, but with five sets of tees it is versatile enough for players of all skill levels. Fazio deftly utilized the native wetlands and numerous lakes that are interspersed across the landscape, incorporating them along the expansive fairways and angled greens. The tricky greens have been carefully molded and contoured to offer a variety of pin placements. In addition to the water hazards, there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. The golf course will test your shot-making skills as well as your creativity. To complement the golf course, Hilton Head Lakes offers an equally impressive 36-acre, double-ended practice facility with target greens, bunkers, multiple practice greens, and even a par-3 short course.

Crowned holes
This is a fun, challenging course. Biggest negative is the crowning of the holes. It is impossible to lag putt. The ball is pushed to the side before it gets to the hole. If you put faster, it flies over. It is easy to lose 5 strokes on a round of 18.
Another enjoyable golf course
Playing Hilton Head lakes for several years I have found it very enjoyable. Staff is always helpful and friendly.
The course is challenging and fun to play. I personally love the back nine.
The price to play is spot on and there is always a sale at the Pro Shop. Since the grill has open we enjoy stopping for a bit to eat and a drink.

Excellent facilities snd staff. Course is a good challenge. Good layout with mix of doglegs both tight and left.
Was a great day of golf!
The staff was awesome and we happened to have great weather. The course was in great condition and dry challenging. We will play this course again in our next visit.

Great Layout
Great course. Nice layout. Greens were on the quick side. The staff was helpful and polite but was surprised to staff behind the counter chewing tobacco and spitting in a cup. Not used to see this taking place at other courses we play while visiting the island.
Wanted to Play a Course Designed By Tom Fazio
Played on 11/19/20.
Course was in great shape. I’m a 66 year old, 20 handicap, so I chose the green tees at 5600 yards.
I’ve played other Fazio courses, the best being Pelican Hill in Newport Beach California. The layout here was fairly typical, but fun. The front has quite a bit of new housing construction, while the back is mostly “through the woods.” There are no narrow tee shots from the “geezer tees,” and the water hazards are very manageable.
All in all it was a good round.

Low Country Quality / Value Course
Worth a trip off of Hilton Head in search of "golfing value." Course layout is challenging with mix of narrow landing areas, target golf concepts, "domed" greens, water hazards (plentiful), and limited sand traps. The course is extremely well kept, particularly fairways and tee boxes. Greens appear to be rolled Bermuda (roll really well, just not as aesthetically pleasing). Pace of play is quick as the crowd tends to be more local and respectful.

Really enjoy playing this course for the value. It's fairly new and trees need to grow in, but wide fairways make this course nice to play especially on a day where you are not straight off the tee!

Nice people and nice course
I couldn't have had a more pleasant round, meeting good people who know how to enjoy a good course and facilities. The cart master was helpful and encouraging: a keeper. The same is true for the woman running the snack bar: obviously a knowledgeable golfer and happy human being. We also met a gentleman from Ohio with a Buckeye tattoo on his arm: his daughter, only four, was a delight, too.

Will always come back for another round. Only reason not 5 Stars was Very Wet. Not much course can do.

Tee times don’t always matter.
When we arrived we were offered to go off early to beat a group of members. Course played well. We came to 6th hole and caught up with a twosome. The pace came to a crawl. We we made the turn the starter started another twosome in front of us (at the 10th) who were just beginning their round. I confronted the started and he was unapologetic about it. This group was even slower and we lost all rhythm watching these people hack their way around. The course claimed to be super busy but no cart person on course.
