Teal Bend Golf Club
About
Teal Bend Golf Club runs alongside the Sacramento River, enjoying a lush landscape covered in natural wetlands. One of the characteristics the course is known for is its stunning scenery, which works against the challenging layout by being almost too distracting. All of your attention will have to be focused on successfully maneuvering past the mature trees and natural rough areas that sit along the edges of the undulating greens and narrow, winding fairways. Long hitters will enjoy this golf course, which stretches to 7,000 yards from the back tees. There are also some interesting risk/reward holes that will appeal to both low and high handicappers, which is why it is one of Sacramento's most popular public courses. The well maintained driving range is also a popular feature at Teal Bend Golf Club.

flying with the aircraft
My regular golf buddy & I had a great round, hot, sunny, LOTS of Mosquitoes. The water in the scheduled hazards was a little high, sand traps were a little compacted. My buddy said that, I don't play in the sand. All in all, we are anticipating our next round & I think the earlier the better.
Very Pleasant
Nice course. No big surprises. Very nice staff. Certainly recommend it.
Peaceful, lovely, very manageable course
This is a peaceful and beautiful track with no houses, fairly easy if you aren't wild. Can be a good value at twilight, online specials, etc., but green fees are too high for prime times otherwise. Bermuda rough, nice greens. Reachable holes.
Note: must have your bug spray handy. It's 100 yards from the river.
One of the best we played all year
With all the water shortages, I never expected this great of course for such a reasonable price. The staff and pro shop were very good also.
Mosquitos
Course was in good condition, only drawback was the mosquitos.
Level but interesting
I'll start this out by saying that I'm from Colorado so when I say level, take that with a grain of salt... I'd play this course again and really enjoy it. We were there during a very bad drought and I was impressed how well maintained it was given the drought. There are tons of bunkers that give the course some of its difficulty and a few water obstacles. The trees are beautiful and some tall grasses line the fairways...if you find a few balls in there, you're welcome! My favorite part was the wildlife; we saw wild turkeys, geese and rabbits all over the place, but none were an issue.. Turkey's seem a bit smarter than geese, which I've not experienced before. My one distraction the day we were there was a fella walking in the field next to the course shooting at rabbit. Dude, there's a Safeway a few mikes away; nah, to each there own, but gun shots are a bit annoying when you're lining up at the tee box.. Not the courses' fault though... Enjoy this one.
Teal Bend 8-29-2014
The tees, fairways and 17 of 18 greens are in fine condition. The coarse is cut through the trees but the fairways and rough are very generous. A pleasure to play.
Grrens were rough
Our only complaint deals with the greens. We weren't told that they had been aerated and sanded recently. That resulted in poor putting surfaces. Several of the greens also had significant damage to the grass, with bare spots.
The fairways were well manicured, however. When the greens get back to normal Teal Bend will once again be a totally fantastic course overall.
Seems the Greens are ALWAYS punched or have fungus.
I like the layout.. Fun course.. but they have really got to improve the quality of the greens... I've NEVER been here and thought the greens were good. Get it together TB!
Terrible greens!
Greens were in the worst condition I've seen them. They had been punched about 2 wks ago and seemed slow to recover, but also, many had large patchy areas that desperately need attention. Fairways and tee boxes were ok. The course was also a little soggy in places. Overall, a dissapointing day thanks to the condition of the greens. The guy in the golf shop claimed that the greens had recovered to 85%. I would beg to differ. They seem to have much further to go than that.
Fun course
I've played this course a few times and it gets better every time. This last time I could tell the greens had been recently aerated, but that wasn't an issue on most of the holes. Nice course to play and there usually aren't that many people playing it during the week. I've only been golfing for about 8 months and I love playing this course because it's a great challenge for my current skill set.
Green
Green gree green. Nice forgivin greens . All i see is green
One of Sacramento's best
I played this course for the first time this week, and will definitely plan to play it again with friends and relatives. It has fairly wide fairways that are tree lined and gives it a beautiful, rural park-like setting. The greens had just been punched about a week ago, so if you are thinking of playing here you may want to wait another week or two. Otherwise the tees, fairways and even bunkers were in very good condition. Probably my favorite in the Sacramento area now.
Thanks for the great review! Thanks again for coming out, hope to see you again soon.
No notice on greens
Booked on GN and there was no notice that greens were being aerated. At check in they provided a free bucket due to no notice, which was nice, but while at the range the sprinklers turned on getting us, all our gear and even the cart parked 40' away wet - not a great start to our round. Minus the greens, course was in good shape and fun to play. Didn't see the cart girl until on the green at 17 despite being a hot morning. I'll be back, just not so early that hit with the sprinklers while warming up...hopefully.
Punched greens
We purchased a 52.00 deal and there was no mention that the course had recently had the greens punched and sanded... tee to green was good, but the greens were in terrible shape.. We had played the course before and never had an issue... when it was mentioned to us that they had been punched.. it was more, oh well... putt the ball harder.. green conditions should have been noted on the purchase page.. we would have paased on this deal because it was too much for the course conditions..
Beautiful, Natural Course
Teal Bend is overflowing with natural beauty. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are all in excellent shape. There are loads of amazing birds and abundant wildlife to keep the round interesting. We had to pause our tee shots while a ten point buck worked his way across the fairway. There is also plenty of water, as well as bunkers placed in strategic places. This is a course that demands target golf.
A real gem
Best course I have played in 5 years. Each hole unique . Conditions fantastic. Reminded me of playing in South. Completely away from the City. Near the Sacramento River. Would be great reason to move to the area. Very tranquil.
One of my favorite Sacramento area courses.
The course is in great shape. Many holes require well placed tee shots to score well.
very conforable
Had a excellent time. Was a bite warm (98) but there was lots of water.
Too hot for golf but this course is way cool!
It was 104 degrees yesterday but the course with its many trees provided nice shade throughout the course. Course condition were great and greens rolled nicely. Only compliant...we are in a drought and some of the fairways are muddy. These areas are usually near the greens. Otherwise, our threesome moved along nicely on a very nice course. Teal Bend is one of the best tracks in the Sacramento area.
Im sorry to hear you have only played when our greens are less that perfect. Call me next time you are thinking about playing in a few weeks, and I'll let you know how the course conditions are. You gotta play when the greens are good! Just ask for the Head Pro when you call. Hope to hear from you soon.
