Teal Bend Golf Club
About
Teal Bend Golf Club runs alongside the Sacramento River, enjoying a lush landscape covered in natural wetlands. One of the characteristics the course is known for is its stunning scenery, which works against the challenging layout by being almost too distracting. All of your attention will have to be focused on successfully maneuvering past the mature trees and natural rough areas that sit along the edges of the undulating greens and narrow, winding fairways. Long hitters will enjoy this golf course, which stretches to 7,000 yards from the back tees. There are also some interesting risk/reward holes that will appeal to both low and high handicappers, which is why it is one of Sacramento's most popular public courses. The well maintained driving range is also a popular feature at Teal Bend Golf Club.

Fun Time at The Bend
We really enjoyed our round at Teal Bend. The course was in decent shape considering we hadn't had much rain up to this point. Greens were extremely fast. All in all it was wall worth the money.
Not So Good
The course was half Dead and half actual green stuff. There were tons of mosquitoes. There seemed to be a bunch of regulars who wanted to play the course in three hours. We were rushed though the entire course and at on point the marshal followed us for a couple holes (which made our experience worse). Overall the course was not in the best shape and the people playing there were not very friendly. This was my first time playing here and the last. Hope everything goes well for them.
Good course design
The set up has good variety. The greens were in great shape. The fairways, bunkers, and rough were in poor shape however. A mosquito haven, so bring protection. Average prices for the course are between 50-60 dollars, which considering what you get, makes this overpriced. Worth a look if you've never been, but if you already have, until the fairways, bunkers, and rough come back to life, not so much.
Always enjoy playing here
Great views, excellent condition. Will definetely play again
Lightning
The greens are like lightning, and that is one of the features that make this course so much fun. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Teal Bend Linkstyle
Winter has escaped Northern CA so far and the golf courses have been the beneficiary. Teal Bend is no exception with bermuda fairways as interstates and greens like stairways. There is no stopping the ball, pure link style fun.
Played last day of year with a gentleman from Napa who was very impressed with Conditions at Teal.Firm and fast led to a challenging day with all clubs but fun and amazement with every shot. Teal played like a wind-swept links course without the wind. I could have used a putter all day with ultimate course conditions.
Great playable course with friendly staff
First time at this course and I will be back. True and fast greens, friendly staff, and nice layout except for the airplanes taking off.
Was playing slow due to the mini groups going out
Normally a fast playing course. Today we were stuck behind the same group for 5 hours into the night. Had to book for two players minimum. Wasn't able to find a second so it was not such a great deal.
course with character
nice course which is offering blended scorecards for
tee selection nearer to a players ability. recent work on the traps
has upgraded that part of the course significantly. greens with
gentle slopes that run much faster than they appear. a good challenge for anyone who loves some variety in their golf courses. need to hit a lot of different clubs. cannot reasonably expect to just hit driver after driver. very nice practice area.
one can actually practice all kinds of sand shots for example.
Fast greens
Lightening fast greens with challenging hole placement made this a tough course.
Great course and friendly staff
We played first out in the morning. The course held a lot of water and dew which took a long time to dry out do to the time of year. Not the courses fault. The greens were soft and attackable. Staff was awesome and greeted us with enthusiasm and a smile. Highly recommend the place, but this time of year puts it to an afternoon course for me. Early summer would make it a all day type of place. Had a great time. Go out and enjoy Teal Bend
Normally an enjoyable course but on this day very poor pace of play and conditions due to lack of starter and marshalls tied up by tourney set up.
I actually like this course very much and think it is one of the better ones in the area. Good people, good design etc. But this day was a bad luck day all around. There was no starter or marshall availability as they were tied up with tourney set up. Unfortunately this allowed many groups to jump their tee times, not follow pace of play, ignore basic course ettiquette and rules and be generally rude and discourteous. This destryoyed the entire experience for any players behind them forcing some to leave the course before finishing the round due to their frustration with the rude players and pace including myself and playing partner. Normally I have had very good experiences here but it just shows how important it is to make sure the people who are using the course are doing the right things and sometimes need course staff to help manage them and course conditions. So due to this I have to rate this day a 2 when on a normal reasonable day the course is a 4. I will also write some other reviews for other days even earlier this week when the course was a great experience. To be fair it was a bad luck day to some degree with these unmanaged conditions and some course debris due to previous day high winds but maybe one stater/marshall could've prevented and or quickly rectified the whole player group related problems and kept pace normal for everyone.
Good value
Got a great price on GolfNow, Staff was very helpfull. Course was in better condition than I expected, will play agin when I'm in the area. Suprised how quiet the course is for being next to airport, planes were never an issue.
Bunkers Like Hardpan
Went with wife for a Sunday afternoon round. It's been a bit over three weeks since they aerated the greens. While they weren't too sandy they were still bumpy and the ball didn't roll as well as it did earlier in the summer. (Come on people and repair your pitch marks!) This course is doing nothing to groom any of the sand traps on the course and as a result they are very crusty and some have compacted into almost a hardpan. I find this to be a major flaw in the course's maintenance. I usually go during twilight rates but if I were paying $46 - 65 to play this course I'd be pretty upset about this. Come on ClubCorp you can do better!
This course is fairly challenging and is located right off of the river. We had a great time and we really enjoyed the course.
This course is fairly challenging and is located right off of the river. We had a great time and we really enjoyed the course. The greens were still recovering from aeration but other than that everything was in great condition.
Disappointing
Teal Bend advertises themselves as a "premier" golf course. They charge premier prices but the greens were absolutely the worst I've ever played on. The lack of maintenance really showed. Inconsiderate golfers there do not fix their ball marks but the course does nothing to fix them either. The worst was a 6" gouge some angry golfer took out on the 11th green. It wasn't fresh damage which means the maintenance staff has mowed over it numerous times without taking notice to fix it. What's worse is that they cut the cup 18" away from the gouge. No excuse for that. And the bunkers were some of the worst I've ever seen. I probably will not play this course again. On the positive side, I loved the layout and the challenging holes.
Greens were recently punched!
This is a great golf coarse however difficult to enjoy when the greens are not playing in average condition. When booking on-line, the web-site should be telling you when the greens have been punched and that the greens have been sanded.
Thank you!
It has a beautiful setting for play-a more established course.
It is a great course to play if you like a challenge( dog-legged fairways, off-set pins, wet traps, some undulating fairways and water-frontage 3 pars. Particularly, today(8/14/013) it was difficult because the greens were aerated and sanded, however, I treat them automatically as two-puts. Overall, I like the course very much- it is very country-ish. If you play in the early morning hours, be sure to bring your bug repellant-lot of mosquitoes. Overall, it
was a good experience at a great price.
Great course. Awesome staff.
Enjoyed the course and fast play. Very well maintained. The staff from the pro shop to the grill were awesome. Even got free lunch with our deal. Looking forward to the next time out at Teal Bend!
greens were aeriated but overall course was in pristine shape
one of my favorite course to golf and always in great shape
