The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

More information
I got the tee time on golfnow.
Then, when I got the golf course the staff told me " only back 9, and cart path only"
???????
Before I got tee time if I had a kind of information I would never get this tee time.
I have played this course very often. But, this time?
"No no no no good"
Decent condition
Course was really wet from all the rain the last few weeks which is understandable. Bunkers were filled with water. Other than that though, the course looks better than it did when I last played it a few years ago. It will dry out and probably be in great shape.
Going downhill
This course used to be so much nicer. It has a great layout with some very challenging holes but it is clear the city of Frisco is not putting any money into the course. Every single bunker on the course is unplayable. And it appears they have been that way for a long time. On one par 5, I lost a ball in a bunker that was full of muddy water - no way to find the ball in the mud puddle which was easily 6” deep. This course could be so much nicer if it was cared for but sadly that is not the case.
Overall great shape for late May
The course was in overall great shape for late May - considering all of the recent rain we’ve had. The course was mostly dry, and seems to have drained well. The greens were in fantastic shape. They rolled fast and were soft - I was impressed. It was cart path only for 4-5 holes total, but all others were wide open. The fairways were in great shape too like the greens. The only knock was the bunkers. They were ok pretty bad shape, but somewhat understandable given the rain. However, this could be addressed with some mild maintenance. We teed off at 2:30 and finished a 6:30 with a foursome. Good pace of play with the nice weather we had. For the price and the shape of the course, I’d play here again without a doubt.
Rough
This course is typically my go to. But wow, today no bunker was playable. Even if we didn’t get rain they would still be more dirt than sand/ hard as a crushed granite.
Fairway were balding and greens where patchy. Not happy. Better value at oak hollow for same conditions and half the price... back on no play list
Too narrow
So tight and so much water, too narrow and difficult to enjoy. Greens were hard and fast
Hard pan central
Nice course, but no grass right now. Also pin placement on some holes were ridiculous for how fast the greens are right now. Playing real tough.
Turn on the sprinklers
Course is in terrible condition...dry, dry, dry! It’s like playing golf in a Walmart parking lot. Bunkers are rock hard too.
Great value: challenging
We decided to play from the tips out here and it was a long one. No need to be long off the tee, set yourself up for the next shot. Lots of false fairways and running slopes. Great course
Challenging
This course challenges every aspect of your game. You cant hit driver off the tee on every hole. Pace of play here is slower than usual i think its because the course is difficult. Greens were tough too. Course was in great shape
