The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Nice golf course.
Fairways are in great shape, greens are in good shape. I like this golf course, is challenging, and if you mishit you are taking a penalty for sure. I think the only thing they need to improve is the sand traps, is not bad, but could be better.
Great Challenging Course
I played on a hot Summer afternoon and the course was still very responsive. The grass was green and the greens were soft. They had just punched the greens so some putts were bumpy but that is to be expected. The course layout is great but it is very challenging. You don't have much margin for error and if you miss the fairway on some holes don't even bother looking for your ball. Overall this is a great course but its not for a beginner golfer. I would recommend this course to most intermediate to advance golfer for a fun weekend round.
Top notch course
I would give it a five-star but they have just aerated the greens. This is a awesome course ,it is a pga caliber type course if you can't place your shots there is a lot of big scores available. You may want to bring a lot of balls because there is alot of hazards and out of bounds lurking. The fairways was in great shape, also bring a rangefinder hard to find distances in some areas. Booked on golfnow on a weekday and got a excellent price. This is a course you would love to play.
Think Twice Before Playing Here
We entered the pro shop where Paul was behind the desk. I can not say he greeted us as he only words were very short and to the point. He needs to learn to say "Welcome, to smile, and if nothing else pretend to enjoy his job and the people who pay his salary (which is all of us who golf there)" He said he had only been working there since May and I told him he needed to find a different place to work. The pace of play was sooooo slow. The marshal out on the course was more interested in finding golf balls than speeding up the really slow players. Once we got done golfing we decided to go into the bar/restaurant to cool off as the heart was 101 outside and a cold beverage and room would of been nice. It was very warm in there. The staff even had a large fan on them. If the owner would select better people and drop the air down so his employees and customers would enjoy it there this place might be worth us trying it again. However I don't believe we will ever be back thanks to Paul and his unfriendly attitude .
Why can't course tell you they have punched the greens when you book tee time
I had not played this course in years, but about 6 weeks ago, went and played and have now logged about 4 rounds in that time. From the tips it is challenging and fun and would recommend it. I believe their marshall are good and try to keep pace of play up, which these days is unusual for public and private courses. My issue is that playing yesterday, I learned after we paid and were on #1 green that they had recently punched and were about 50% healed. I believe courses; including this one should let their players know about any work, closed greens or tee boxes prior to booking. I will be back, but I will have to ask how the course is before committing to a tee time or; I guess even teeing off.
Not worth it
I had an 8:28 tee time and we didn't get to tee off until after 9:00. Starter said that was usual. Then every hole was hit and wait. Way too much overgrown grass around, snakes everywhere
One of my new favorite courses!
Played 18 at The Trails of Frisco for the first time today. Gotta say, I was really impressed! Course was in really good shape. Fairways were lush and rough was stout. Greens were awesome! Soft enough for ball to stick and even back up a little, and they rolled extremely true.
Green fee was $30 at 3:40, and we played in an even 4 hours with not a soul in front of us for 18 holes. Very good overall value and experience.
Kind of a haul from north Fort Worth, but well worth the drive. I will definitely go back.
Solid Course
Course was in great shape. I liked that you couldn't use driver on all of the tee boxes which made it challenging. Greens were rolling. Pace of play was the only knock. Had to wait often before hitting next shots.
Nice Layout & Greens
Course played well - Rangers kept pace up and got done in <4hrs. Cart Gals were prompt and cold water where needed. Fairway drying out so hope it rains or the water them. Greens were holding very well, plugged in instances. Overall excellent experience i will be back.
1st time
Really happy I had a chance to play this course, fairways and greens were in great shape, layout was great a few blind shots and tight fairways . Clubhouse a little pricey on drinks. Overall will play again
July 1, 2016
Course was in very good shape and was a challenge...I will play their again!
Bring a lot of balls
The rough is THICK- you can lose ball in rough! and very tight driving course with lots of danger on each hole. I normally lose only 1-2 balls in typical round- but on this course I went through 8! :-(
Best fairways of anywhere so far this year!
After a winter of barren lies and a spring of sparse grass, the round at The Trails was a welcome event. The most lush fairways so far this year and the overall course conditions were excellent. I'm returning soon!
Great shape!
Trails is in great shape right now. I paired up with a single, we flew through the course. Driving range grass is really poor right now, but the course conditions made up for it. I feel bad for those houses at the end of the range, they must get peppered all day with range balls...
I gave 3 stars for the Off-course amenities - the sewage must be bad, because the clubhouse/restrooms/bar area ALWAYS smell horrible.
Other than that, great place :)
Dallas
Second time to play the Trails. Fun course in good shape. North of Dallas bout 20 miles
Great round!
Very nice course, friendly helpful staff, some holes challenging…overall a pleasant experience
Sunday afternoon 18
Played 18 in 4:20 - not bad for a nice Sunday afternoon. Greens were solid, fairways were greened up, tees were groomed. As other reviews stated - bunkers were awful and unkempt. North winds made several holes extra challenging. About the course - lots of cut-off fairways for big hitters like me. Quite a few blind tee shots as well. Annoying to hit it well off the tee and see the ball ended up in a native area. Lots of 200 yard into the wind second shots. About the staff - nice enough, but sold me range balls for a tee time in 25 minutes and then got called to the tee after hitting 5 balls. Overall - average to slightly better. Take extra balls, you will need them.
Greens in nice shape
Had a great round but the sand traps were hard as
cement.Bunkers need sand badly.
Like the course, but pace is terrible
I had a 1:30 tee time on a Friday, and the pace was terrible. It took 2 hr. 45 min to play 9, after which I called it quits. We were backed up 3 groups on number 2. I like the course layout, but I would advise getting an early tee time. That would be a big caveat to recommending this course.

I agree. But i dont blame the course(s) right now. Ive played several courses whos bunkers are like that. All because of the rain. Later this summer when it is dry there should be no excuse for hard bunkers.
