The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Golfer Reviews
Good variety of green approach
Good variety of patterns of set up. Some sand traps were under construction.
Trails has issues
Course in good shape considering time of year. NO GPS is tough when not enough markings in the fairways.
good test
I am 2 handicap and found the course challenging but fair. Greens were quick with lots of undulation and challenging if you got above the hole. fun course
some target golf required
Nice course, many fairways with blind shots and creeks traversing them
tough course
tough course, especially when the wind is howling 30mph and we are playing from the tips!! Love the layout, winter fairways are in already though, so balls are rolling forever..
An excellent Golf Course
Friendly staff, excellent fairway, beautiful layout. Should have more signs for direction, the greens are slow
Great Course
Greta course. Just moved to the area and decided to play this course. It is not just a driver every hole course. You need to play smart and decide when you want to do risk/reward. I would play here again for sure.
Great shape course
First of all, this course has a pretty pretty good shape, greens are perfect and fairways looks great. It's a good challenge play there. No doubt I will come back
Good times
Course in good shape. staff was friendly. Great day to play.
Sand Traps Need Work
Course is in excellent condition considering the local water restrictions. However, you will need to take a drop from the bunkers. They contain a clay-like substance that is a poor substitute for sand.
First time at the Trails
This course is in great condition and is very challenging. Many hidden obstacles such as creek, tall weeds, and a lot of sand traps.
Nice Track!
Greens were excellent and the rest of the course was in GREAT shape. Staff was friendly as well.
Great shape
Great condition. Greens near perfect. Pace was awesome.
Sand traps should have sand
The track was in pretty good shape for this time of year however the sand traps were in shocking condition. I am sure there is a local rule about playing from these traps as the surface was hard baked clay not fine, silky white sand. The pace of play was good and the cart girl was very nice. Good value for money but a location that would do well with GPS on the carts. If you decide to play here......buy the yardage book. Some holes are very tricky regarding where you want to land you T shots and approach shots.
The club house is looking a bit tired and needs to be updated but the staff is friendly and the pro-shop well equipped.
Balanced layout with its challenges
Course had a very nice layout that requires you to hit precise shots and others that were wide open. The greens and fairways were in great condition but the bunkers were unplayable and should be filled in and seeded with grass if they are going to be kept in that condition.
I would play the course again but would automatically drop out of the bunkers.
very attractive track
considering they got 6 inches of rain the course just a few days prior, it played very nicely. fairways were clean and fast although three had some hardpan on them.greens were little slow but rolled true and consistant, I will for sure be back it was just bad luck that the course was packed with teen girls qualifying for what one would think was the u.s. open. just hit the ball!!!!!!! anyway, maintained nicely.give it an A-
Horrible Bunkers - Trash everywhere
I play this course often and it has just started turn into a goat trail. The staff seems to care less. Bunkers drainage is exposed, and it is not sand; more like hard clay. Trash and deposits from the rain everywhere. If the course is in bad shape, why charge full price??? Close the course and fix your issues! Frisco Lakes or Plantation are better options in Frisco.
A Must Play for "Ou-of-Towners" visiting
Trails of Frisco is definitely in my "black book" of top 10 favorite course in the Metroplex.
Always a tuff track no matter what skill level. Great layout, plenty if hazards along with just enough width of fairway to keep ya from loosing every bad shot.
Greens are in great shape due to good rain and respectful players doing their part (repairing ball marks) which keeps them rolling true. Anyone who hasn't played here.... Gotta play it!!!!
Great course - provides plenty of challenges
The golf course is in excellent condition, with the exception of the bunkers - which needed considerable maintenance and grooming. This course has a variety of difficulty, and a significant number of blind approach shots - which creates an additional challenge to anyone that has not played the course previously.
Greens are excellent - and roll very true.
Driving range and practice facilities are excellent - but the driving range has a limited capacity, and was a bit crowded. It was good to see so many families and children at the course and learning the game.
