The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Golfer Reviews
Wonderful Golf Course
Greta course. Fairways was in outstanding condition. Can't wait to play here again.
The sand traps are hard pan with tons of rocks.
Was happy with all but the sand traps. Get into one and good luck getting out without damaging your clubs.
Late May review
The fairways are in in good shape. The greens are not good att his point. Very bouncy.. It looks like they've been sanded but not aerated. I've played this course frequently. I like the course but greens need improvement soon. Always a pretty course to play with all the big beautiful houses around . I would recommend this course in quorum tour of good and fun places to get in a round of golf.
Golfing with my Son-in-Law
Used GolfNow to prepay for the round and got a reduced rate. Had to call and change tee-time due to commitment my Son-in-Law had. Course changed tee time with no issue and did not charge any additional amount.
Course in good condition, greens rough, dirt bunkers, no sand. Found out they are going to aerate the greens in a few weeks.
Course is challenging especially first time on it. Pared up with a Father and Son-in-law as well. Great time on the course.
Issue now is my son-in-law did not know it was prepaid, so he paid another green fee. Will see how the course will handle.
Nice layout, interesting variety of holes.
A fair but somewhat challenging test. Easier if you can work the ball off the tee. Not much bailout room on approach shots to the green. An advanced player would not be bored on this course.
Trails of Frisco
Great course. Busy but no one hesitated letting me play through. Greens need a little work but not much to make it a perfect course.
Decent
Decent shape. Greens spotty but does not affect most putts.
Fun golf course
This is a fun layout. Several tee shots are a challenge. Greens a little lumpy in places, bunkers had very little sand. But a good value for the money.
Great Layout
The course is nicely laid out with some very challenging holes. I am not sure if I would have been as pleased if I paid full price for the round.
Don't know what good condition means
Asked the pro shop if the course was in good shape... Don't lie I will still come play just will have lower expectations worst shape I have ever seen place is going downhill since new management
Probably the best in Frisco
Fun to play course that is well maintained. My only real complaint is that the greens can be bumpy and really inconsistent from round to round, and for some reason this course seems to hold more water than any other course I've played. If it's rained in the last 24 hours, don't wear your nice shoes. Still a fun and challenging course where you'll have several decisions to lay-up or go for a tricky green in 2.
Trails of Frisco was a 3hour mini-vacation
It was a pleasure playing at Trails of Frisco. The course is in great condition and will only get better with the rain we had this past Sunday April 20th. Greens are all rolling true and the fairways are in great shape. The bunkers are hard packed but easy to pop out of if you know what your doing. Overall the course was treat and like I said it was my 3 hour mini vacation. I highly recommend this course. They also have some really nice quality Titleist golf hats on sale.
Greens in bad shape!
I have played this course many times over the years. On this day (4/20/2014) it was the worst I have seen the greens. They were horrible! Looks like they have not been watering the greens. They did not putt true, very bumpy, and were very discolored. I'm not sure if they changed management or not, but this course has definitely gone down hill. In addition, they need to add sand to the bunkers. If you were hitting out of sand it was like hitting off firm dirt. It's a shame because it used to be a nice course with great greens!
Inexpensive but upkeep...
For less than $30, it is decent value as long as you don't mind not having markers directing you to the next hole, nonexistent hole markers, nonexistent sand in bunkers, and greens still in winter mode a month into Spring. And don't go after a rain -- I can tell this course will need time to recover.
But it's golf. I went on a weekday and pace was okay because the course was not crowded. People are still slow if you have enough of them. On a weekend with the course difficulty, I could see it backing up.
I played this course when it first opened - great design, tough course, conditions were good although in a low lying area, we were met with mosquitoes -- but that was 6-7 year ago.
Now housing has grown around the course, and the course design is still great but with the drought, the native plants are more "natural" and not green, the fairways are still decent, and it is a challenge. The fairways slant, and native grasses exist to hide you errant shots.
If you do not control your drives or approaches, it's a 2 sleeve course, so bring at least 3 sleeves of balls.
The range? It's there and footing was lumpy. It's fine for hitting a few balls before a round but I would not make it my practice range.
I would recommend this course if you wanted a test of golf and did not mind poor maintenance.
Bad manners from the manager
The course is getting worse with rock hard fairway and bunkers. The manager was a bit of rude and arrogant. I wouldn't go back there unless I have to play with my friends.
Flood plain course
The course was a nearly unplayable due to heavy rain from two days before. I had no idea that the course would be in that bad of shape two days after rain. For the price being charged, they should have warned players before paying or offered some type of replay coupon.
The staff was very nice and the marshall was apologetic of the conditions, but I feel duped.
A Good Challenge
Enjoyable round on a nice day. Got paired up with a congenial person, and will be ready to play again. Will likely participate in their frequent player offer.
Nice layout, mid spring condition
Nice layout. Very busy mid Sunday afternoon. Paired up with another twosome. Given the course was packed with foursomes, that was a good thing. Course was brown and hard, lot of roll. Greens were all right for time of year. Bunker were rock hard, almost unplayable. Range was not in good condition. All sand. Probably would be better condition later in year.
Crowded with no marshal
The course was crowded for a Friday morning. My son and I don't like to be rushed and we played with some real nice guy's but the grope in front of us were not going to there ball after hitting and getting ready they would sit at the tee box till the grope in front of them were walking off the green. We only saw a Marshal on the first hole. It made for a long afternoon. The roughs were not cut well, and the greens were fast. In my opinion not a good combination. I can live with that but I do better if the first cut is shorter.
Slow group in front
pace of play was pretty slow. got rained on at 15 and decided to quit cause the group in front was slow.
