The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
About
The Trails of Frisco golf course is one of Jeff Brauer’s most unique designs -- primarily because it doesn’t fit the mold of his other courses. Brauer, who’s known for his open, straight-forward courses, designed this one to tip out to a par 71, 6,900 yards, loaded it with hidden creeks, scenic wetlands, extensive bunkering, and massive greens. In fact, first-timers will be confused here. They’ll face intimidating views off the tee that leave doubt as to the problems that loom ahead, and it is definitely possible to lose all of your balls off the tee if you’re struggling.
The golf course is just flat-out challenging, especially on the front nine. No. 1 opens up with a creek on the left that cuts in front of the green and generally makes its presence known on every shot. The play here is to stay right and stay away from its subtle presence on the left side. The creek comes into play on Nos. 2, 4, 5, and even No. 9, where it chutes from the fairway in front of the green and surrounds the green of this challenging par 4.
All told, water and waste areas are in play on 16 of 18 holes (including every par 3), and the creeks are enhanced by visible lakes and ponds on the back side, even though it is considered a bit easier than the front.

Golfer Reviews
Good times
Course in good shape. staff was friendly. Great day to play.
Sand Traps Need Work
Course is in excellent condition considering the local water restrictions. However, you will need to take a drop from the bunkers. They contain a clay-like substance that is a poor substitute for sand.
First time at the Trails
This course is in great condition and is very challenging. Many hidden obstacles such as creek, tall weeds, and a lot of sand traps.
Nice Track!
Greens were excellent and the rest of the course was in GREAT shape. Staff was friendly as well.
Great shape
Great condition. Greens near perfect. Pace was awesome.
Sand traps should have sand
The track was in pretty good shape for this time of year however the sand traps were in shocking condition. I am sure there is a local rule about playing from these traps as the surface was hard baked clay not fine, silky white sand. The pace of play was good and the cart girl was very nice. Good value for money but a location that would do well with GPS on the carts. If you decide to play here......buy the yardage book. Some holes are very tricky regarding where you want to land you T shots and approach shots.
The club house is looking a bit tired and needs to be updated but the staff is friendly and the pro-shop well equipped.
Balanced layout with its challenges
Course had a very nice layout that requires you to hit precise shots and others that were wide open. The greens and fairways were in great condition but the bunkers were unplayable and should be filled in and seeded with grass if they are going to be kept in that condition.
I would play the course again but would automatically drop out of the bunkers.
very attractive track
considering they got 6 inches of rain the course just a few days prior, it played very nicely. fairways were clean and fast although three had some hardpan on them.greens were little slow but rolled true and consistant, I will for sure be back it was just bad luck that the course was packed with teen girls qualifying for what one would think was the u.s. open. just hit the ball!!!!!!! anyway, maintained nicely.give it an A-
Horrible Bunkers - Trash everywhere
I play this course often and it has just started turn into a goat trail. The staff seems to care less. Bunkers drainage is exposed, and it is not sand; more like hard clay. Trash and deposits from the rain everywhere. If the course is in bad shape, why charge full price??? Close the course and fix your issues! Frisco Lakes or Plantation are better options in Frisco.
A Must Play for "Ou-of-Towners" visiting
Trails of Frisco is definitely in my "black book" of top 10 favorite course in the Metroplex.
Always a tuff track no matter what skill level. Great layout, plenty if hazards along with just enough width of fairway to keep ya from loosing every bad shot.
Greens are in great shape due to good rain and respectful players doing their part (repairing ball marks) which keeps them rolling true. Anyone who hasn't played here.... Gotta play it!!!!
Great course - provides plenty of challenges
The golf course is in excellent condition, with the exception of the bunkers - which needed considerable maintenance and grooming. This course has a variety of difficulty, and a significant number of blind approach shots - which creates an additional challenge to anyone that has not played the course previously.
Greens are excellent - and roll very true.
Driving range and practice facilities are excellent - but the driving range has a limited capacity, and was a bit crowded. It was good to see so many families and children at the course and learning the game.
Great course, horrible bunker conditions
Trails of Frisco is a great tough layout. Everything is great except for the conditions of the bunkers. They are horrible! The concrete cart path is softer then the bunkers. And it's all the bunkers not just some. They really need to improve the bunkers because it soured an otherwise great course, clubhouse and staff.
Great Course
First time there and it was really great. Staff was friendly, course in excellent condition and the lay out well thought out. Depending on skill level the tee boxes offer it all. If I would suggest anything it would be to give a new person better knowledge of the course. A few holes had no markings at the tee to let you know where you were on the course and it would be great to know hazard distances etc... Great experience overall and I will be back!
Course in good condition
Course in great shape! The greens are slow but in great shape. We went off early with a foursome and played in 4 hours. They have come down on their daily rates which makes it easier to swallow. They had two drink carts on the course.
Greens very rough
First time playing this course- called and asked staff about course conditions before booking tee time. They assured me that course and greens were excellent . In reality the everything but the greens were great. The greens had recently been punched and were extremely uneven and in pour shape. Course was fun overall- staff needs to watch what they tell people
Great Course
The course was in great condition from the tees to the greens.
The Trails of Frisco
Great course and a heck of value. Extremely challenging for the lower handicaps. The course is in near perfect conditions.
the layout was awesome.
For the hot deal I got this course was on par with a very expensive daily fee course. This course was worth in the range of $50-$60.
Great value course
I was visiting the Frisco area and a friend recommended this course and I was glad he did. This isn't an easy course for someone who has never played it but it was in great shape and not overly difficult. I was there on a Friday morning and it was fairly busy but the marshals and starters keep everyone moving and pace was good. This is a really good value and I will play this again when I am I'm the area
Good challenging layout with potential
Other than the greens - which were just punched maybe a few days before and were slow and bumpy - the course was in really good shape. Unfortunately, most of the bunkers were muddy with very little sand in them and hadn't been maintained in a while and the greens were about a week or two from being really good. The washes and creeks have really grown in and if you miss the fairway by much, you'll be in trouble. Overall, a good challenge!
