The Good

The golf course is very challenging and has several memorable holes. The course was in good condition.

The Not-so-Good

The facility was completely booked with all tee times filled. As we waited for our tee time, a large group of golfers without tee times wanted to have a tournament so the course accommodated them and we started almost an hour late. The course was so full that once we did get started it took over 6 hours to play.

Another issue that bothered me (maybe just a personal thing), was that I was given my own cart when I arrived and was asked by the starter to pair up with another person in the group that had their own cart. Ordinarily, I would have no problem with this but the person they wanted me to share a cart with was smoking like a chimney. I asked the starter if I could either keep my own cart or pair up with someone in another group because of the smoker and was given a very definitive NO, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM response. Needless to say, having to inhale second hand smoke for over 6 hours was not the kind of day I was hoping to have.

I used GolfNow.com to get a good rate at this course. Much better than normal price. I found that this would be a little pricey at the normal rate. Overall the course was in good shape, friendly staff, and excellent practice areas. There are 3 9 hole courses. Did find them the Oaks and Creek course to be slightly different. Greens on Creek course were very hilly and difficult while Oaks were not. Plenty of garbage for poor shots but good lies for good shots. Pace of play was good, luckily we were ahead of a large tournament. Would play this again for good rate.

The course is awesome. Great layout making you use all your clubs in the bag.. Good challenge and the staff is awesome!

I didn’t bring my clubs on this, our first trip to San Antonio so when the opportunity to play came up I jumped at it. I got a Hot Deal and called about renting a set. The pro staff were great and 8 got a nice set of M2 clubs to use. The cart had GPS as well... a great opotion and was a great help for a first timer to this 27 hole track. The only thing that I would have liked would have been more lush greens. Once we played through a slower foursome we cruised right along. Worth the trip there. Outside staff were equally friendly.

Played an afternoon round. Course was in good shape. Always know what I'm getting here and love playing when I'm in town.

I have played Hill County many times since the course opened in the early 90's.

The layout and spring time rains make this a beautiful track.

The only issue was the sanding of the greens. Which I was not told about prior to booking my tee time.

But for the price it is a great value.

I have played here fairly often over the past ten years.

They have an amazing pro shop and the staff is very friendly, especially Dallas who was all by himself on Good Friday and handled it very well.

Aaron is the starter and he has been doing a bang- up job for many years here. Cordiality is the word here.

These courses are in the best condition during both winter and summer over the years. It's one of the few operations that overseeds in town. Winter playing condition are the best.

The Lakes, Creeks, and Oaks are the three nines.

The original 18 was designed by Arthur Hills in the 1990s. In 2005 he added an additional nine holes.

This venue will require all the shots in your bag.

There are lots of water and sand bunkers. The greens are smooth but undulating.

As a resort course, you will have to deal with slower players at times.

First time playing the course on a day that was not very busy, a lot of singles and 2somes, my wife and I finished in 3.5 hours. The Starter was great, lots of info, and redirected us at the turn to the less busy back nine. Played the Creek and Lake 9's, both were in similar good condition, however found the greens to be a little slow. Nice locker room with shower and towels. Not typical​ resort quality, but good value for less than $45.

Nice course. With the hot deal it was definitely worth the money! I give it 4 stars just because I'm comparing it with top of the line course like the Palmer. But his course does top the majority.

What a hidden gem of a course. Can't wait to play again. 3 different 9 hole courses will bring me back in the near future.

Beautiful course that is well maintained. Challenging design but still a lot of fun to play!!

Great courses with superb layouts. Course is in excellent condition.

My wife & I enjoyed this course. It was still in winter condition and just had a couple inches of rain which left course conditions less than best. Also the course was full of players causing slow pace of play. Good for the course, not so good for us! However, we enjoyed our day!
