The Golf Club of Texas
About
The best testament one can give The Golf Club of Texas (formerly known as The Golf Club of Texas at Briggs Ranch) is that it hosts some big local tournaments. The large greens and tee boxes are some of the very best San Antonio has to offer. This is truly a high end facility. If you have not been out to enjoy this course you really need to. The place is all greened up and with the unique landscaping it's just a real pretty experience with great golf. The golf carts are outfitted with GPS which gives accurate distance to the pin and shows the contours of the greens. This track combines Links Style golf with Hill Country golf, giving players a taste of both types of golf. The course is among the best that San Antonio has to offer. The senior staff is very experienced and the service is all that you would expect at a high-value public course. The new clubhouse is beautiful and features a full service restaurant. After playing a round, you will really enjoy just sitting on the porch and taking in the view.

Fantastic Experience All The Way Around
First off I am a 0 handicap and frequent this course quite often. The course is always in fantastic shape and the amenities are of the best value in the city. Overall between the course and the amenities I think this course is the Best Value in San Antonio. I am not a member because I don't have time to be but their membership rates are the best in the city plus all the amenities to go with it. Weekly golf tournaments, weekly restaurant deals, weekly beer specials, and a great course to go with it. This course sets up for Advanced golfers and beginners. During the summer time the greens may be a little slow but are plush and roll true.

Got an awesome deal on golfnow.com, the course had a great layout, the greens were in exceptional shape, lots of contour in fairways. Derek at the pro shop was very professional and attentive. Trini was very professional as well as easy on the eyes. Traveled in from out of town for the weekend and I definitely recommend others to try it out. We will be back in the near future. The experience was mostly enjoyable because of customer service that the staff provided. Thank you, Joe M - CC, TX.
GPS System
Most annoying GPS system ever !!! They use it to force advertisements to your cart and you have to wait for a period of time to return to golf. Basically forcing you to read it. It's like pop-ups. Very annoying
Great to see this course back in playing shape
Had not played this course in several years - it had fallen into disrepair.
I was pleasantly surprised at what great shape the course was in. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
The golf club of Texas is back on my list of places to play in the San Antonio region!
I really enjoy the layout of the course. It just fits my eye for some reason, and I really like having to hit all kinds of different shots. Another selling point is the speed of play, every round I've played has been under 4 hours.
Beautiful natural West Texas setting! Great Value!
My wife and I greatly enjoyed the natural beauty of the course. The greens and fairways were in wonderful condition and playing on zoysiagrass was a first for us.
The value at this course is tremendous considering that we both played for $55 including cart and range balls. The GPS in the cart was most helpful as we had not played the course before. We highly recommend this course to all and had a great experience there!
Overbook much?
This would have been my second time playing this course. My previous visit was very enjoying and I was happy to be able to play it again. It had rained a lot the day before and the driving range was closed so that was disappointing. They had a kids tournament going on and we were going to have to start on hole ten, which was not a problem, but the starter had no clue as to when to let us go. Our tee time was at 1:50. We sat in the cart waiting until 2:20, at which point he finally sent us out only to wait for a group who just came off of nine. They had a foursome in front of us who they pulled off after they had sent down due to some confusion. That is when they sent us down to even more confusion. We turned around and left and went to another course and got right on with no wait. I will not be coming back to this course. If you do book it be sure to ask if they are having an event because if they are they are not competent enough to handle it.
Great layout in solid shape
We played following roughly 2 inches of rain. Greens were good and true but slightly slow. The staff was awesome and we will be going back. From the tips this track played long.
My Type of Course
This is the second time for me to play this course. I am from the east coast and transplanted here 4 1/2 years ago, I live an hour away but now that I have found a course in South Texas that reminds me of my east coast courses, that hour is next to nothing to travel. I thoroughly enjoy the zoysia tee boxes, fairways and greens. The track is waiting for you to take the challenge and take the risk and there will be a reward. I play mainly in the afternoons, so that pace of play is great. I would suspect that the pace is pretty good during the morning rounds. My new favorite course in the greater San Antonio area. Hope to meet you there one day!
