The Golf Club of Texas
About
The best testament one can give The Golf Club of Texas (formerly known as The Golf Club of Texas at Briggs Ranch) is that it hosts some big local tournaments. The large greens and tee boxes are some of the very best San Antonio has to offer. This is truly a high end facility. If you have not been out to enjoy this course you really need to. The place is all greened up and with the unique landscaping it's just a real pretty experience with great golf. The golf carts are outfitted with GPS which gives accurate distance to the pin and shows the contours of the greens. This track combines Links Style golf with Hill Country golf, giving players a taste of both types of golf. The course is among the best that San Antonio has to offer. The senior staff is very experienced and the service is all that you would expect at a high-value public course. The new clubhouse is beautiful and features a full service restaurant. After playing a round, you will really enjoy just sitting on the porch and taking in the view.

Lovely back 9. 3.5 average Stars
The Golf Club of Texas was a nice place to play a quiet evening round. Conditions will improve in the summer when the Zoysia comes in completely. Fairways were nice, but harder than average and had some other grasses coming up in them in places. Tee boxes were a little hard at times, but did not hurt play at all. Bunkers were all raked and sanded. Looked good. Greens were hard, but had been recently sanded. The had some spots around the fringes that were looking a little bad but did not hurt play at all. A small rain would be good for the course. Layout was very nice. Contrast between the front and back 9s. The front was a 3 star, back would've been a 4. Can tell some of the improvements will do the course some good. GPS system on carts were great. Clubhouse was very nice. Fire pits/ driving range/ practice greens were all very nice. Definitely a nice course for an evening round. I would play again.
Really enjoyed playing this course
And good food at club house
Would definitely come back when in the area again
Would recommend to everyone to try out this course
Beautiful golf course!
Great layout, great conditions, beautiful and scenic. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Golf Club of Texas
I did like the overall layout of the course. The greens did have some bare spots but overall in good condition in winter months. My one and only complaint is the fairway bunkers. They were filled with small gravel rather than sand. I messed up my sand wedge hitting out of one. With that being said green side bunkers had sand but the sand was thin. I would play there again.
Hidden Gem!
This course is close enough to San Antonio and feels like your really in the country. The bar and grill is nice and the staff is really great!
Vacation golf
We had a great round on a beautiful day. The staff was bending over backwards to help us enjoy the day since we were right in the middle of some tournaments. We were very happy with the pace and conditions. Can't wait to come back someday.
Course has lots of potential to be better then good
Some of the par three greens had lots of ball marks. On the plus side though the course was playable (cart path only) after a very very hard rain the night and early morning hours before. I was unable to complete my round (quit on 16th hole) due to slow play from two to three groups ahead.
Interesting Couse
This was my first time on the course. I am just out to enjoy myself on the golf course and I was not disappointed with The Golf Club of Texas. The early season conditions were fair. I spoke with local player who told me about how much work has gone on in the course by removing much of the junk which there still is plenty of for bad shots but not for slightly off shots. Grass was fairly good. I am guessing during the hot summer that this course is lighting fast but right now was reasonable. Staff was nice and clubhouse was good. Scored a great rate on Golf Now.
like to play when in Texas
This course used to be not so nice, but in the last couple of years we love to play this course when we visit Texas. Is challenging and staff is very friendly. The hamburgers after golf here are great.
For playing in Midwinter, the course was in excellent condition and well taken care of by the staff. Lunch and drinks were fairly priced.
Great golf
I feel the course was in really great shape for this time of the year. I cannot wait until everything starts to turn green again. I will definitely continue to play here and look forward to inviting some of my out of town friends as well.
Hot Deal
I was never fond of this course layout but have come to enjoy it everytime I play out here.
Greens are looking amazing!
Great course at affordable rates
staff super friendly! Been to some courses that charge way more and not as good as GCT.
Best December Course
This is my second time playing this course in about a year, I was greeted warmly by the pro shop & felt welcomed, there was a slight backup so they gave me a complementary large bucket to warm up. This time I noticed the greens were like a billlboard table & fairways were "winter plush", not green but a smooth brown.
This is a links course with lots of gorse that almost starts as the 1st cut ends, so I recommend bringing extra golf balls, & take consideration the wind it does blow here so try to play when it's down bc you'll def be challenged.
For some reason there was no cart girl driving around & disappointed bc I hadn't eaten anything yet, the only bogey that day. My only gripe is I wish they cleared more junk close to the greens, I had lost a ball on a par 3 and saw it landed just outside the fridge I went to look for it but couldn't. I know most Course designers want to keep everything "natural" but it's no fun losing balls.
All I can say is play to your true handicap (blue & gold tees for the 10+) bc this course will expose your
weakness if you try to hit from the tips.
Overall the Course is challenging & has a great layout,
but wished they cut into more of the gorse so we normal golfers can look for our ball.
But def give the course a try & if you have a tough round the bar & grill at the 19th hole will make you forget it.
Best steaks & cold beer in Texas.
Great course....great value!
Course is in good shape...great value for the money. I'll definitely be back.
