Staff has done a Awsome job but mother nature burned them and part of the back nine is blocked by a sinkhole I love this course.but need to adjust rates until repairs our done.if you don't mind not playing 13 14 15. 16 then go play it is still a lot of fun to play.Staff food and rest of course is outstanding .they let you play 10 11 12 17 18 over so that helps you still play a lot.

Had a nice time golfing, took a break between 9th and 10th holes. When we returned to our cart both of us were missing a club each. I'll end up having to replace a putter worth just over $200. Other than that the folks there are extremely friendly. Just keep an eye on your stuff.

Greens are rough and have a wire brush feel to them.

Perhaps they need more time to mature. Fairways & around greens are nice, but did need lot's of cutting due to recent rains. Rough was about two feet tall and if you missed a fairway, forget finding that ball. The numerous commercials on the GPS screen was very annoying and required constant touching to return to the golf. Course is over priced at this time.

If you get a good rate it well worth the trip.

Actually really like the course layout. Staff at the pro shop very friendly especially the restaurant...the manager was very accommodating. Give it a couple more months, I think it will be in great shape. I don't mind golfing at this course again.

A really nice layout that will challenge your length off the tee. Greens are equally a quest for accurate placement to score well.

The course is in much better shape than it used to be...but there was nowhere to go but up considering the miserable conditions before. That being said, it's not as great as everyone says. I think their reviews are based on the improvements that have been made rather than an objective, memory-free experience. The layout is nice but the grass still needs to grow in quite a bit. It is thin pretty much throughout the course, including the greens. Please don't get me wrong...it is vastly better than before. So before it would have been 0 stars; now it's 2.5 in my book.

We played the course from 6000 yds and found it relatively easy. Next time we'll move back. The greens were a little rough and need filling in. They were also hard and only the highest shots would hold. The fairways look to be filling in also. I'll definitely go back.

Played at the re-done Golf Club of Texas. Grass was in decent shape, still recovering from the winter. Greens were in better condition that most other local courses, this time of the year. Rolling fairly quick and true. I'm excited to come back later in the year and see what the conditions are like once the grass grows back in. Will definitely be back a couple time this summer.

They let a group of five people play in the afternoon. This really slowed the pace of play. The layout was the same as before. The greens were more of brownish green than green and play really fast. I paid $30 because of golfnow. However, it's over price on a regular day. To play there is not worth $60 and still had to pay for range balls. Will only play it if the deal is up again.

Course was not in good condition compared to others of same or lesser price I have played in the last few weeks. Staff and starter were very friendly and pace of play was pretty good considering there was a college golf tournament with groups of 6. Fairways were in pretty bad shape, weeds all over fairway and especially close to rough. Greens had sandy patches and fairly dead, but did roll nice on a few of them. Played this course before and after renovations, I paid $40 for 2pm tee time and could have found many other courses, including municipals in better shape in San Antonio. Asking people to pay $80 on a weekend morning is just wrong at this course. I understand you need to make more money for upkeep and to pay off renovations, but wow. Not a bad layout, but a long way to go.

My girlfriend and I traveled to the San Antonio area in a fifth wheel trailer for the month of February. After playing The Golf Club of Texas for the first time we joined with a one month membership. The course has been completely renovated with Zoysia grass. Although we were still in winter conditions the fairways and greens were in excellent condition. While the layout is fair the course does require you to use good course management. There is a nice putting green, chipping and putting green and driving range.

So much for the course. What set this course apart for us were the people. They welcomed us with open arms and truly made us feel at home. We were always greeted with smiles and handshakes by Bo and Clay in the Pro Shop. Todd, the GM, does a fantastic job of running the food and beverage side of the business. The course always has something going on from golf specials to food and beverage specials.

All in all this is a great golf club with all of the amenities and friendly people. I just wish we could have stayed longer!

Had a Great time at Golf Club of Texas. The course is not as good as it was when it first opened but it is much better than when it closed for business. Good test of golf and great practice facilities.

Redone course w/Zoysia grass thru out. Very nice on the greens, needs one more grow in season on the fairways. Holes present a very nice vista, greens are large and smooth with enough undulations to provide a great putting challenge. They are adding a set of middle tees (6000 yds) which will provide a nice yardage for the senior golfer. Numerous options for pricing but just a little to high for the senior/military community that is so abundant in this area!
i will go back but not often at current prices. Very nice food and beverage layout.

Let's start with the bad then end with the good. The course is a little out of the way if you're coming from San Antonio. The other bad is that the greens are really tough to read, not very undulating, but the ball rolls real funky, so it's pretty hard to sink puts in. There many good things to say: the course is in pristine condition, it plays long (so get that driver ready), it's challenging, great staff that takes really good care of the place, very scenic, decent amount of hazards, decent elevation changes, the facilities are top of the line, the GPS unit on the cart definitely a plus, and free bottles of water spread on a couple of the tee spots.

Very hard course if windy. Greens can be tough to read especially if windy. Staff very nice. Food pretty good also.

Course is in great shape for the time of year. The facilities are really great and the GPS enabled carts are are nice perk.

The course has a COMPLETE make over. You gotta play it to see all they have done. AWSOME and its winter time. I can't imagine how beautiful this place is going to be in summer. I will find out.
