About
Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.
The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.
No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.
Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Coming back fo sho
I played here one time some 15 years ago and had a fantastic round and time. Flash forward and repeat. Granted my round wasn't as good scorewise, but still a great time. Course has tightened a little bit with houses and apartments (used to be nothing but land way back when) but it's in immaculate shape. Staff was friendly and treated us as if we were family. Everyone there deserves a raise. Great job and great track..
Summer end
Great course, nice challenge, great condition, I liked almost everything except for lack of authority from marshall. There was a 4some of intoxicated players who ran cart up next to green, almost into bunkers, played multiple swings a ball, we couldn’t tell if they were playing a best ball scramble, own ball or just practicing shots. A group skip them another group gave up and left,, we stayed behind them watching all their antics. The marshall just said, we have had multiple people complain. about them but what can we do. Yes what can you do, maybe will wait a couple of weeks before visiting this jewel of a course
Group of 6 allowed to play
I’ve never seen a course allow a group of 6 play together. This has been a terrible experience. The pace of play is terrible as well.
Exceptional course
Just love to play this course. It is so scenic and the couse layout is awesome. The course has quite a variety of holes that challenge and also reward good ball striking. The back nine is probably one of the prettiest public courses I have played. I would recommend this course to any player of any skill level. The tees support all levels of the game and the amenties are also exceptional.
Dependable Good Conditions
Always enjoy playing Star Ranch as I know the course will be in good shape, the staff will be friendly and accommodating and the water Coolers will be full throughout the 18th!!

GREAT TIME WITH MY TWO SONS AND A GREAT COURSE IN GREAT CONDITION. IT WAS A WINNER FOR SURE!
Great layout
Great layout. Fairways, rough and greens were in great shape. Very enjoyable round.
Nice Course, bunkers were concrete
Course in nice shape, greens very good. Bunkers were not in good shape, likely were not machine raked before our round. Heavy rain previous evening resulted in hard packed sand, so bunker play was like hitting off the cart path. I am sure when weather cooperates, they will be fine. Play really slowed after hole #10, and we left after #16 both due to slow play and rain.
