About
Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.
The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.
No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.
Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Quality course
The greens were well kept and the driveways were gorgeous.
Always great shape. Expensive but actually worth the money
No complaints, other than the fact Turn on all the tea boxes are in great shape. Otherwise, I really like the layout and really appreciate the quality of the greens. No weak holes and no overly tough holes. Just a real good layout.
Fun time on nice course
Played with 3 good friends and had a great time. Star ranch never disappoints.
Absolutely Gorgeous Course
Golf club at Star Ranch was gorgeous. We arrived at 2:40 PM for a 3:40 tee time to check in and enjoy a snack and beverage before our round. The pro-shop manager informed us that we had picked an excellent day to play the course as the conditions were optimal.
Needless to say he may have undersold the experience. The course was in perfect condition. We were paired with a lovely two-some and had an excellent time on the course. I would absolutely recommend this course to a friend and I will definitely be back to play again in the future.
Pace of play poor
Wish the starter would adhere to the tee times and not send us out 15 minutes early only to wait on every hole at least 5 and sometimes ten to twenty minutes. Makes no sense. Normally course plays at a regular pace, but today took almost 5 hours to finish.
The greens still had sand on them from 3 weeks ago, which was somewhat surprising given rains last few weeks. But overall conditions were good. Will only play early morning to avoid heat of the day if this is the normal pace of play .Normally give at least 4 stars but pace of play knocked it down to three.
A star, even on a hot afternoon.
Course plays as advertised. Fast and true greens. Tee boxes were okay, but not on a level as the rest of the layout.
Will be back.

Tee’d off at 3:30 , it was crazy hot but the course was perfect , pace was great! Star Ranch is a great course always !!!
Enjoyable round with open fairways on most holes
The Fairways are in great condition at this time with all the rain. Greens have just been sanded so are slow compared to their normal conditions. Disappointed the driving range was closed from 12 for 2.5 hours.
