About
Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.
The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.
No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.
Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

My Favorite Course
I’ve played almost everywhere in Northeast Austin and Star Ranch is the best. Beautiful course with a relatively easy layout. Course conditions are always prime as they shut down the course once a week for watering and maintenance. Practice facilities are top notch and staff is friendly except for one guy at the front desk. Great value if you’re playing a morning weekend round or a weekday twilight
Horrible pace of play
Horrible pace of play, no marshals on the course monitoring it. This course used to have good pace and you would usually finish in 4 hours on a busy day but the last 2 times i've played here has gone downhill. Feel like Star Ranch is trying to take the title away from Teravista as the home of slow play.

It had been raining a lot lately and it was muddy overall, but it was a good course.
Always Enjoyable
Star Ranch will always provide good layout, very fair tee shot landing areas, a little more wind then you think and a starter that gets you out on your tee time. Be On time!
Greens were the standard slightly fast and would hold approach shots fairly easily. Sand traps were being raked by Star Ranch crew while we were playing and that's always great to see....a grounds crew taking care of the course!
5 star course
Always a great round when I play at star. First off my buddy booked it the day before and we switched tee times for a later time and he got charged the full amount…which was kinda our/his fault. The staff at the pro shop only charged us half for our round to compensate. They didn’t have to do that and they go above and beyond. 2nd the course conditions are in amazing shape… very wide open fairways, and the greens role so pure. Just go and experience a true 5 star public course for the price. Forest creek jacked up their prices and star did not. They also give you free range balls which is a major plus.
