About
Hutto’s been put on the golf map now that the first-class Star Ranch has opened up on what was once a cattle ranch, boasting a unique collaborative effort from the Morrish brothers (Jay and Carter) and the Bechtol, Russell design firm.
The course sits on a hill and is built around a centralized lake, featuring the typical spectacular Hill Country topography highlighted by plush, undulating fairways and bleached white sand bunkers.
No. 2 is one of the most difficult holes and the first real challenge of your golf day. The 417-yard par 4 has more of an open feel than some of the other holes, but it’s length generally means a rather long approach, and the green is surrounded by several massive bunkers.
Getting there : From Austin, take I-35 north and exit Parmer Ln. Turn right and go east on Parmer to Dessau Rd. Turn left and go north on Dessau, which becomes FM 685. Go 5 miles past FM 1825 in Pflugerville and the club is on the left.

Guest Friendly
Great course to take visitors who are high handicappers. Finished in 4 hours and 20 minutes.
One of the best in Austin
The course conditions were excellent from the tee boxes, bunkers, greens, and the fairway, and the 20-25 mph winds and gusts that day made this course fairly demanding
Beautiful even during Texas Heat Wave
Only complaint was the 4some in front of us. Could have easily been 30 min shorter round.
Wish our cart hadn't died in a cellular dead zone....
We spent around 45 minutes stuck in the middle of the No. 14 fairway because our cart didn't have enough juice and then we were unable to get a hold of the club house because at first no one answered and then both our phones lost cell service altogether. Luckily, we let the group behind us know what was going on and they were kind enough to track down an employee to help bring us a new cart. Luckily our cooler was adequately stocked but it killed any chance of us having a legitimate round. I'd play the course again but I feel like the course should have offered us a discount on the round or at least given us another opportunity to go out and play a legitimate round.
Dependable Joy
Even at 105 degrees this course is always a dependable enjoyable round. During our summers, its one of the few times that I really love the constant windy conditions----sometimes gentle sometimes more but you always have something to work with. Greens and fairways were greener then most for July unless your playing CC courses all the time. Good starter, good staff, good rate and cart came around often enough.

The course is fantastic!
I would highly recommend playing here — the course is in great shape, just challenging enough without being overly difficult, and the practice amenities are wonderful.

Great course!
Highly manicured overall with very nice “green” greens… not burnt like many others in the area. People very friendly… we were a 5-some with some new golfers and let 4 groups play through we were the slowest group in the course so pace was great. We enjoyed it, great course…. Great job Star ranch crew!
