Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
About
Heritage Ranch serves up an especially challenging par 72, 6,988-yard Arthur Hills design that rolls through the oaks and pecans just outside of Fairview. And while it’s part of a gated, active-adult residential community, the course is open to the public and especially fun because it integrates well with the neighborhood. Houses line some fairways, but a fair number of holes provide that natural, rural feel that is always so welcome on a golf course.
While the course is not particularly demanding off the tees, the real challenge at Heritage Ranch comes from the mound-shaped greens. If your irons aren’t dialed in, you’ll be working hard for ups and downs.
No. 1 is a unique opener because it bends left down to a fairway and green that aren’t visible from the tee. Big drives can get close, but the recommended play is to take a long iron and draw it over the hill.
The par 5s on the front are nice holes. No. 3 doglegs right and requires a good tee shot, followed by a relatively easy second shot into a widening fairway toward the hole. The trick is nailing the short iron (almost a blind shot) into the elevated green guarded by bunkers on the front. No. 7 is longer and offers a good chance for birdie, again because of its wide-open nature.
No. 16 is the signature hole: a par 3 masterpiece that plays along a natural spring waterfall. You’ll need to nail a long iron over the valley and avoid the trees that overhang the fairway from the right.
No. 18 is a good finisher–it’s a long par 4 that doglegs left around a few large fairway bunkers, then works its way uphill to an elevated, mound-shaped green surrounded by bunkers. Ups and downs are possible here if you miss the green back left, which is easy to do when you approach with a fairway wood.
Getting there : Only 20 miles northeast of Dallas, take I-75 north to the Stacy Road exit, then turn right and drive to the dead end. The road jogs to the left, then right, and continues as Stacy Road. The entrance is 2 miles down on the left.

Challenging
This is a great course! One of my favorite in TX so far. I was greatly surprised by the amount of elevation change, deep bunkers, placement of bunkers and other hazards. It was a tough challenge. The greens were in excellent condition, fast, and very challenging. This is a great shot makers course. Requires good course management and makes you think about each shot form tee through the green.
Great place to golf!
I've played here a few times, having the same great experience every round. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers all well manicured and in great shape, especially the bunkers. Very true fast greens that roll so well. Blind shots, undulating fairways, elevation changes, it's got it all. The gentleman in the pro shop are great and inviting, the starter as well. This club is on point!
A must play by avid golfers
The hospitality of the entire team is by far the best in the metroplex. It's obvious they take a lot of pride in making your round an enjoyable one. I played this course on an extremely windy day and even though I'm a high handicap player, I had a blast. The lay out was challenging for both low & high handicap players, yet fair and extremely enjoyable. It's challenges you to think. The greens were fast, fairway manicured, the rough is easy to recover from & the pace of play was fast as well.
Greens were good
Greens were excellent. Pro shop had a lot of good equipment. Person behind the counter seemed to pre occupied. Lost my range finder on the course and went to talk to him and he seemed like he didn't care enough to take a number just in case it got turned in.
A very nice experience
The staff was wonderful, from the cart / bag boys, to the pro-shop, and the starter. The course was tough but fair. The conditions were what I expected for February, and the sun came out on the back 9, which was nice! I will return to play again! Thank you!
Easily one of DFW's best course
Have heard great things about this course and it definitely lived up to the hype. For winter golf the conditions were amazing. Greens rolled true, fun layout, and a staff that made you feel like they wanted you to be there. Can't wait to come back and play this gem again.
Great course!
Great layout. Outstanding greens. I can only imagine how good this can be in the early summer. On the list of golf courses I will visit again.
Heritage Ranch
The course is in good winter condition. The greens are superbly maintained and roll true. Fun layout with some risk/reward holes. The staff is very friendly and let us know about course conditions before heading out.
Lived Up to Previous Reviews
I was very pleased with my experience at Heritage Ranch. The course was in surprisingly great shape given the season and the staff were friendly. I teed off on a weekday before 9am and largely played without seeing a soul in front or behind me.
The carts are really high quality and the GPS features are impressive. My only minor complaint was that the driving range seemed a bit in need of an overhaul, with some pretty unforgiving uneven sandy ground.
Great course layout
Was a good as it gets. Greens were impeccable.
Wonderful course
In great shape and a great challenging layout. Will play again.
Worth the drive
Only complaint I have are the extremely slow greens. I played here twice and both times I was not happy with the speed of the greens. Other than that, the course is well maintained.
I notice a lot of local Seniors from the surrounding neighborhood playing on this course. Very friendly staff and golfers.
Excellent Conditions topped Great Experience
The course was in top notch shape, Greens were quick and smooth. Fairways and rough all excellent. The layout is challenging but not too hard. The staff was friendly and treated me like loyal member. The club house has lots of amenities including showers for those traveling. We played on Saturday and the course was wide open in front of us and we played 18 holes in just over three hours - never felt rushed or slow. Really can't ask for more from a golf course.
Great course
We were in town visiting over Labor Day weekend (from Tennessee) and had a chance to get out for a round. Found a good deal on golf now and was pleased with my choice! I was the only person to tee off at my time and played the entire round in ~ 3-1/2 hours. Will play again when in the area
Great find!
I love this course! You can find a great deal on the hot deals every now and again for a last minute break out. Course is in great shape and fun to play. Greens are pretty challenging. Tees, fairways, bunkers, rough, and greens are all kept really well. Greens are relatively quick and hilly. Definitely one of my favorite public courses to play in the N Dallas area.
One of my favorites
I got this for $15 but a GREAT! value even at $25. It feels very secluded and you don't feel like your playing in the metroplex. I would so recommend this course, there is a few holes where knowledge is important.
Oustanding Course
This is the 2nd time I've played the course. The practice facilities are nice with a chipping and putting green. The few staff we've run into have been incredibly nice and courteous. The course condition was excellent and the layout is fun and interesting. There are no boring holes. A great find.
HR - Nice Track!
Great layout and wonderful first-time experience! Was able to play 18 holes in 4 hours on a Sunday - and got in an extra 9 - bonus! They're getting new carts with GPS - which should assist with course knowledge. Definitely on my list to play again!
Heritage Ranch
Excellent course, highly recommend for any level of golfer.
