Waterview Golf Club
About
Rowlett’s first course has been laid out over a flat range of pasture, supplemented by 15 acres of lakes and over 1,000 new trees. Designed to be hacker friendly, the lack of mature trees provide an especially generous look and feel, tempting the mid-level handicapper to tee it up from the 7,191 yard tips and go long off the tee. Bent greens are the highlight of the round here–they roll true and provide solid opportunities to snake in a few long putts.
Getting there : Off of I-30 exit Dalrock Rd. and drive north through Hwy. 66. A half-mile past 66 veer left on Princeton, which dead-ends at Liberty Grove. Turn right into the Waterview division and take Waterview Pkwy. to the clubhouse

good fairway condition
Tee box area was well maintained as well as green.
Rebuilt Course
Greens were tall and bumpy - the new tiff greens will take a while before the improve.
A few holes had the same old drainage problems with the area just in front of the greens were wet and boggy.
No improvement there.
Needs more time to get good.
Rewards good shots, punishes bad ones. Good course.
Like my title says. It's a mostly straight away course with nothing really hidden. If you miss the fairway, it has mature trees, water, and sand in landing zones that can penalize your shot. Some previous reviews posted about the saturated ground around the greens. That was also the case here, but it was manageable and didn't hinder play. Social distancing measures gave us different carts and pace of play was awesome.
COVID19 closure
I could not cancel my reservation when the course had to be closed
Fun course
It's a favorite of mine. The staff is always friendly. They have done a lot of work to the course. Hopefully will see those dividends pay off in the spring.
SWAMP FRINGES EVERYTIME
not once, but every time I play this course (3 times now) it is a complete SWAMP around EVERY green it is horrible. shots that don’t carry all the way to the green will plug in a MUD BATH, and if you do land on the green, you better pray it holds because the greens are like concrete.. VERY HARD GREENS that will only hold a perfect sky high shot. Greens rolled VERY SLOW and were grainy and BUMPY, not smooth! Borderline unplayable, and disappointing.
Much nicer courses to play in the area trust me, don’t waste your money here!
Not ready
They are keeping the fridge around the greens so wet that it was unplayable. They need to close the course until it’s ready for play. FIND SOMEPLACE ELSE TO PLAY!
Great staff
I am traveling and do not have my clubs. I showed up with a makeshift set my buddy made me, no putter nothing. I asked the pro shop if I could borrow a putter but they had none. The starter However was unbelievable, not only did he let me out with time to spare but he literally let me borrow his personal set of clubs. That’s the greatest customer service I have had at a course. I hope this man hears how appreciative I was. The course is a nice track with fresh greens and bunkers. Lots of tight lies this time of the year but got a lot of roll off the tee. I had a great round walking and I definitely would play again.
Wet conditions
Every green is like a swamp area surrounding it. Plugged multiple balls. Mud and footprints everywhere. Inside, the grill smelled like sewage.
These issues need to be addressed.
Fringe
The fringe around EVERY green is a swamp. Nasty, muddy and way too wet for play. You can't chip hardly at all, the greens are rock hard but you can't hit bump and run chips because if you do and they hit the green, they run forever and anything short splats in the mud. They need to look at how they water the greens because it is horrible to play with it like this. We had a beer after the round and the restaurant area smelled like backed up sewage. Just a horrible experience.
Around the greens
The course is in ok shape for this time of year, especially the bunkers. The only issue I've had with this course is it is always wet and muddy all around the greens, and I mean ALL of them. You can sink down almost to the tops of your shoes. This isn't the first time either, it is pretty much wet and muddy around the greens every time We've played it.
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE!
The grass around every green is a sloppy, muddy mess. Since we haven’t had any rain lately, they must be over-watering. Multiple times we hit a ball 5-10 yards off the green and couldn’t find it because it was buried in the mud. And the greens aren't in great shape to begin with. They shouldn’t be charging full/normal price for this course. There are far too many courses close by in much better shape. I won’t be playing here again anytime soon.
Renovated! Great shape
They just had a $2 mil renovation in 2019 and now it's in great shape. A little soggy around the greens due to the new grass, but the greens, bunkers, tee boxes and fairways are awesome.
I bet in the spring and summer of 2020 it will be one of the best in shape courses around.
Needs cleaning and work.
Mens room looks and smells like they haven't been cleaned for over a week. Muddy mess around most of the greens. Land a few feet from the green and expect a plop as your ball hits mush. Other than that, good course for a cheap online price. Rest of the course was in good shape.
Great for a hot deal.
This course is great for a hot deal. Even without one the normal price is reasonable for this course. If you can get there early the pace of play will likely be fantastic. I got paired with another single and we finished in 2.5 hours.
The course itself is a good track. Some tough holes and a few that will make you feel better ;). In the fall/winter be ready to lose a few balls in the rough, nice and thick. The greens need some recovery, I'm told they are a year or two away from being back to form. They roll fairly true, but slower than you would expect as they're quite hard. There also seems to be a drainage issue. Around every green and various spots around the course you will unknowingly step into a marsh. On the approach you must know this or a shot into the fringe is likely to plug.
Otherwise this is a fun, well priced course. I've been considering their development program (players club), but it might just a bit to far away for me.
Swampy
Today I played for the second time since the course reopened. Both times the greens, many areas on the fairways and many places in general are just swampy. They’ve done a lot of work on the course but not sure the drainage was ever touched. No other course I play has this problem. Great layout, friendly staff but I can’t understand why the course seems like it was built below sea level or in a swamp.
Gman22
