Waterview Golf Club
About
Rowlett’s first course has been laid out over a flat range of pasture, supplemented by 15 acres of lakes and over 1,000 new trees. Designed to be hacker friendly, the lack of mature trees provide an especially generous look and feel, tempting the mid-level handicapper to tee it up from the 7,191 yard tips and go long off the tee. Bent greens are the highlight of the round here–they roll true and provide solid opportunities to snake in a few long putts.
Getting there : Off of I-30 exit Dalrock Rd. and drive north through Hwy. 66. A half-mile past 66 veer left on Princeton, which dead-ends at Liberty Grove. Turn right into the Waterview division and take Waterview Pkwy. to the clubhouse

Fairways Great - Greens Not So Good!
Played with friends from East Texas who had heard about the Club and wanted to play. Overall it was a good round - a course built in a housing development with homes surrounding the course (however, it didn't make for a "tight course" ) fairways were fairly generous and enough hills, traps, and water to just make it interesting. One caveat - the bent grass greens have been hit hard with a fungus resulting in a lot of "interesting" putts over bumpy bare areas on the greens - it generally made putting not a good experience. Disregarding the greens, the course is fair and suited for a wide range of golfers.
Great layout, greens on front lost
Second time playing this course. Great layout with wide-ish fairways. First time I played conditions were great. This time The front nine greens were so badly lost there were huge areas of dirt to putt through. Back nine greens were okay but had spots with shaggy grass. Guess they were afraid to cut even with temps getting milder. Should be required to mention green conditions that bad. I guess the low rate should have tipped me off!
Greens are not in great shape
Over all the course was in normal condition only downside is the greens are not in good or average shape at all.
Play another course
I haven't played Waterview in almost a year, and the conditions were terrible. They are not doing anything to maintain this course. Greens were half bald in some places, with no upkeep whatsoever. Several bunkers had grass growing in them, and unmaintained, several bunkers had shreds of the lining cluttering the perimeter. It appears if all they are doing is mowing and picking up no debris or emptying trash cans. Very sad, as this used to be a beautiful course to play. The only thing positive is the staff, both in the pro shop and the grill were friendly.
Lack of work in greens
I have played this course many times before, but the greens are in really bad shape, too many brown spots, thiscourse was in a absolute great shape before, a pleasure to play it,but now it's not that good.
Disappointed
Enjoyed playing this course previously in the area but on this day the greens were in awful condition. Cart girl didn't show up till the 16th hole.
The breakfast sandwich was great though, kudos to the lady in the cafe!
Past better than present
This is a course I enjoy playing. All holes are straight; no dog legs. It is a challenging course. Bunkers to test your bunker play. I usually rate this course 4 stars. However to give a true description of the course conditions I have to rate it lower this time because of the greens. This course used to have some great greens but most of the greens are in poor condition. And players have done a poor job of repairing divots. Having said that about the greens, I will play it again and again.
The greens are in terrible shape. The grass off the greens are so thick that we had to find the ball. Bunkers were hard. Bottom line it is not worth the price. They need to discount it by at least 50% of the do not want to maintain it.
Greens in bad shape.
Greens are in really bad shape. One of the worst greens I played on this year. Might take a month or two for the greens to recover, call the pro shop before booking.
Bent Greens are Dead
Had an enjoyable round with my buddies but definitely had to write a review to warn about the course conditions. I first want to say that I really like Waterview but several of the bunkers are in bad shape (have roots, grass, etc. growing in them) and the greens were mostly dead due to the heat and the fact that they're bent greens.
After the round, we did ask the pro shop about the conditions. They said the greens will be fine in another month or so but did have anything to say about the bunkers.
Not sure it's worth it to anyone to play it until then as the greens/browns are very bumpy or simply are bare. It seems as though nobody that's played repaired their pitch marks on the greens either. You could spend a lifetime repairing pitch marks on most of the greens.
I hope you have better luck with the conditions that we did. A huge disappointment for what was a nice course.
Challenging course but....
Course had some challenging holes and was enjoyable overall. Fairways had a bunch of large weeds and the greens had dozens and dozens of divots that clearly had been there a while. Doesn't seem to be well kept overall, especially the greens. Very playable course at a good value. Would play again.
Course has lost it's luster.
Waterview has a nice course layout.
Be prepared though for bunkers that are hard dirt instead of soft sand. The greens are suffering from players not fixing their ball marks. The staff was keeping water on the greens on a warm afternoon.
Cart girl was available on a Sunday afternoon.
Range balls come with your paid green fee.
Lacking just a little
I can't blame all of this on the course staff. but the greens were kind of soft and it looks like people who played this course before us were not very good at cleaning their ball marks and lifting their feet while walking across the greens. Way too many ball marks not fixed and player dragging their feet. Green were slow and not true due to players not taking care of greens. I was fixing about 10 ballmarks per green.
Food staff were very kind but way unorganized. This part of the review gets very very low marks.
Better than average
Good layout. Sometimes they struggle with maintaining the greens and green complexes but overall a good value
Good place to play
Other than Marshall not speeding up a very slow beginner group I would say it's a nice place to play. Grounds were a 7/10.
